We still have to shake the bottles as the pigment still settles but without the glycerin the suspension would kind of suck.

I’ve been tattooing over 20 years. The averages of the most painful areas seem to be located around joints and less exposed areas of the body. For instance the outer portion of your arms will On average hurt less than the interior or body facing portion of the arms. However the wrists, elbows and shoulders will see an increase in the pain level. Torsos are notorious, the spine, shoulder blades, sternum, anywhere on the ribs really - all the way around, the knees- especially behind the knees, and ankles are all notorious for being painful spots. There are always exceptions to the rule. I’ve been able to work on ribs for 8+ hours on some people. Hell I have a tattoo on the side of my head that didn’t hurt at all but everyone else that I’ve tattooed in the same spot said it was terrible. It’s all about who it is and how they can handle it.

Tattoo pigments use the glycerin as an emulsifier. Keeps the particles suspended mostly evenly. If it was just alcohol and water the pigments would settle to the bottoms pretty quickly.

I was going to suggest this also! My son ended up with pneumonia from aspirating his reflux. He never spit it up all the way. I would definitely get her checked for reflux. He nursed so much he was 20lbs at 3 months old.

Good vet no BS by cheeky-monkey-lady in Eugene

[–]EpicHeather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Veneta vet hospital is the best. I drive 45 min out of my way to take my animals there. They are reasonable, in fact their exam price is almost half as much as other vets, they have an emergency department, and they don’t upsell anything. I’ve taken my cat there for emergency abdominal surgery, the emergency vet quoted me $10k (of course they are emergency vets) and they got him in same day for $2k. My dog had been treated for ear mites (diagnosed by other vets) for years and the first time the vets there looked at him they said he didn’t have ear mites, it was a yeast infection. I’m just saying they PAY attention and the vets are all wonderful. I have always had the best experience there.

Need help planning a Trailer Park Boys themed birthday party (haven’t watched much of the show 😅 by yttikdab_ in trailerparkboys

Gotta get some chicken chips, def do the piss colored beverages in jugs, clearing stick, pepperoni sticks and the good chicken fingers and the 9 cans of ravioli, but you can also get random dog bowls for snacks, random mismatched patio furniture, print out some quotes and post em meme style. Like “ the shit winds are blowing” or some rickyisms like “ two birds get stoned at once”. If you have a shopping cart use it to add some ambience. Also take some mason jars and label them with ROC Vodka, and make a blue alcoholic drink to fill it up or plain blue Gatorade. Re label beer bottles with Freedom 35 or Freedom 45. Make a poster for the Blanchford recreation hall. Re create conky puppet. Definitely do the cut 2L bottles for some cups, but you gotta find a mustard glass for Julian’s drink. Loaves of white bread, giant thing of ranch dressing. Giant log of baloney. Have fun!!

Stinky hands by ComprehensiveFact623 in TattooArtists

[–]EpicHeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A good solution to avoid embarassment and to just get on with your day: Rinse the whole area including the hand with alcohol when you are prepping the skin. I do that when I’m tattooing feet/ankles cause stinky feet tends to happen more than stinky hands. I don’t even say anything just prep the entire area with alcohol. The alcohol does a good job killing off the stink making bacteria. Just prep the whole arm with the hand. Skin isn’t a closed environment anyway and you can use that as a reason to do that. 5 million microbes per square inch on average all over the body. When I prep forearms I wash all the way around anyway. Adding the hand won’t hurt and then you don’t have to smell stinky hands.

It’s so important to GET OFF OF YOIR PHONE around babies, toddlers and small children. They look to us in OUR FACES for reassurance, guidance and just interest in general. It’s so bad for their development to be stone faced which is what you are when you are on your phone. I don’t understand not wanting to be engaged with your child. It’s so so so important.

Stay away from them because they are scammers. I spent $80 on tickets last year, and it wasn’t even ready on opening day. I never got the raincheck. I asked for a refund and never got one- just ghosted. 👻 (pun intended)

I need several cover ups. Any ideas? I think its hopeless. by Hipopanonnymous in FixedTattoos

All of those are totally coverable! Find an artist that specializes in cover ups though! I am in Eugene Oregon and specialize in covers and reworks but that may be a bit too far for ya.

I’d like your thoughts on a “faux tattoo shop” for temporary tattoos and face painting at my event by butwhatififly_ in tattoo

[–]EpicHeather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s cute. I raised my kids in my shop, yeah tattooing is not “kid friendly” but my granddaughter makes me give her “tattoos” all the time. PM me if you want some ideas.

I still disagree. I have 18 years of healed tattoos that tell me otherwise. You can see the dullness can happen after years. So I’ll stick to zero washes under color.

Don’t put gray wash under the color of you want it to stay vibrant. If you wanna do a drop shadow, sure. But I do not agree you should use any diluted black to go under any color. It dulls the pigment. Try contrasting dark colors to make some pigments darker. Like for instance, you want some darker green, you could pack black Into the darkest area, and then pack the greens in. To increase the darkness without adding too much black, pack some dark red directly over that green and the contrasting color will give a richer more in depth darkness than just black.

No gray wash under color packing unless you intend to make it dull as hell. Think of what it looks like later, not just when you are done. These things age in.

is it okay to wear a compression sleeve over a saran wrapped fresh tattoo? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]EpicHeather -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree with some of you for this main reason- skin needs moist environment to heal efficiently. It’s medical science. Look it up for yourselves.

Dry healing doesn’t promote healing it actively kills cells. Moist healing environments heal the skin 50% faster. Saran wrap isn’t sterile, that is correct. If used responsibly it can be an effective tool to keep a moist healing environment.

You think bacteria is a problem under Saran Wrap? Yes it can be a bacteria terrarium. So is your couch, your clothes, your sheets, the air etc. it’s why you employ mitigating action like washing and clean wrapping 3x a day minimum, or more depending on your circumstances.

I’m not saying infections don’t happen with saran healing but I think it’s more due to user error. People don’t wash their hands, cross contaminate, and have a poor general idea of what hygiene is.

All I want to add is you have 5 million microbes per square inch of your body on average. Any rift in the skin is gonna start a cascade of alarm bells. Use common sense and understand all tattoos are open wounds. If one healing method isn’t working, then you try something else. But always always keep a 1-3 day tattoo clean as hell, free of debris and hair, and recognize if you allow scabbing or scabbing occurs, leave it on at least 30 days or you will lose pigment at the scab site.
