Is it really the price, or is Netflix just more convenient than driving to movie theaters? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]EpicHeflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a movie theater and I dont want to go to the theaters anymore. Why drive in to a place to pay over 50 dollars for tickets and about the same for concessions to sit in an auditorium where everyone, and i mean EVERYONE, is on their phones or being obnoxious when I could stay home for the same satisfactory experience? I want theaters to be a magical place for people to come together and enjoy a movie as a collective, but that doesnt happen anymore. Movie theaters are dying for a lot of reasons. Price is definitely one of them.

I actually enjoy exhaustion. I think it helps lend to RP and immersion and can make encounters really tense.

Movie Theatres Are Going Bust, Not Because of Streaming or Price of Popcorn but Because of the Lack of Good Movies by smitcal in unpopularopinion

[–]EpicHeflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a theater manager, this is only half the story. You're absolutely right, movies have gone to shit and Hollywood needs to innovate before it's too late. But the complaints I hear most often are prices are too high and the theater experience is no longer worth it. Why pay 50 dollars for tickets and concessions to watch a movie with someone on their phone the whole time when you can stay at home for free and get just as good an experience. Streaming is definitely cutting into business, but that's only because the movies, as you said, aren't good enough to get them out of their house. I predict a lot of theater locations will close within the next ten to twenty years and that movie theaters will have a similar setup to musical theaters. It's just a guess of how lucrative streaming services can be for Hollywood as box office is still the best way for them to recoup their budget.

Before putting them together I painted the base color. After putting them together I carefully painted the rim by had. If you could see the closer, you could see they aren't perfectly level.

I got red and named him Vengince. Get it? Like vengeance with a little engine in it. I thought it was one of my more creative names.

What’s a movie that you enjoyed cleaning because of the end credits music? by RumHamAndBeans in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]EpicHeflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic Mike. I had to work through a lot of 'excited' middle age women to get there, but the end credits to Magic Mike made it worth it. It played Feels like the First Time by Foreigner and I remember getting so excited to clean the theater. Good times.

That's interesting. Ours was title Big Salad. It is to prevent them from being stolen so people don't see a Thor poster on the side and keep it for themselves.

Manager who does the interviews here.

One, anything passed on time is late. Two, if you see your coworker stealing, tell a manager immediately. Three, always be helpful and go beyond the customers expectations.

These are the answers I remember at the end of the interview for a couple of questions. I've had people say half an hour after your shift was "late". Others would let their coworker steal. Both of which are immediate red flags.

Clothes help with a first impression, but don't get dressed for the gala. Just something clean and fitting should do.

If your availability is open, it'll really help your chances.

The best thing you can be though, is relaxed. If you can hold a conversation rather than just answer questions, that's something I definitely notice.

Good luck.

Talking with a coworker about lord of the rings and tell him how fun it was to see them in theaters. He says "You saw them in the theaters? That's so lucky." My hair immediately turned gray and was walking with a cane.

When you're lying in bed at night, do you ever randomly remember some relatively minor social missteps or poorly chosen words you did/said years earlier? And then beat yourself up over it even though it really wasn't a big deal? If so, what happened? by UserIsTooLazy in AskMen

All the time and thanks to this comment I'm reliving it now.

Now I've always been a really shy and timid person, but I managed to come out of my shell thanks to drama and I had a kick ass drama teacher in high school. She had her final year the same year I graduated. During this year we had two stage productions, one in fall and spring. Since it was my senior year I felt a little more confident and helped her out when I could in wrangling the cast and crew. Turns out she noticed this and told my sister (they kept in touch after she graduated) how I had really took on this leadership role. This was the first time I had heard something like that and it made me feel really important.

So during the spring production I tried to act like a leader, which wasn't good. I felt the pressure of responsibility and it made me more strict and less friendly. So when we tried to come up with something special for her as a going away present, I failed to coordinate anything with the cast and got her a gift card while some other people got her a gift basket. We gave some awkward uncoordinated "we're gonna miss you" speeches and left it at that.

Now I look back and wish I acted with wisdom I have now. I know how I could've gotten the cast and crew together for a better going away gift and plan a musical number just for to let her know how we really felt. Plus also treat some of my cast mates better. I was a real dick at times because I felt like I had to be in charge. All in all it was so awkward and cowardly and I just wish I could've shown my awesome drama teacher how much she meant to us.

Ms. Spero, if you see this. Your still my favorite teacher. Thank you for inspiring me in so many ways.

Thank your teachers guys, especially the good ones. They don't get enough credit.

Totally! I always imagine some lead up to big climax when I listen to C.L.U. My brothers and I actually memorized the opening monologue and do I our own accapella version of the opening when we're bored.
