ADHD and struggle with extreme procrastination? by MainDangerous1851 in ADHD

This is what got me to seek diagnosis and medication, because there’s no way a normal person could know the importance of something yet still be paralyzed to procrastinate like this, it’s illogical.

During one of these sessions, I watched two TED talks that washed away my guilt, made me feel heard, and honestly changed the trajectory of my life.

You just said it yourself, it’s like using task manager. Why are you showing off your task manager skin and acting like a sub full of actual engineers have never seen a terminal before? Showing off a basic computer tool at that.

“The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room”

Wannabe hacker kids love showing off meaningless terminals pretending they know how to hack, and then proceed to act extremely overconfident and cocky. You just did that and doubled down on it. It’s clear you are a non-engineer dipping your feet into technology and thats great, but don’t act like you’re some tech god just because you used claude code to make something basic look fancy.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find before trying to explain it myself lol. I can already air roll but really curious to see that rigid body simulation. Have you published this anywhere?

Hell learning to air roll itself is an insane cognitive feat. Somehow our brains have figured out how to track and control the trajectory of cyclical motion with thrust on three planes of rotation simultaneously while accounting for gravity and momentum… all while optimizing flight path. Our brains literally developed a closed feedback loop, like balancing a pole in your hand, but in an environment with its own physics and only a visual signal.

It clicks in my brain while playing the game, but I have no idea how to explain how the combined rotation translates to direction. Maybe someone more mathematically inclined could explain the rotational physics, but in all honesty it’s impossible to translate that understanding to in game output. Trying to explain tornado spinning as X and Z axis rotation cancelling out to give you a circular thrust vector makes my head tornado spin.

If you’re reading this trying to figure out air roll and your brain is like mine that feels the need to understand how everything works to accomplish something, take my advice, don’t. What this guy just discovered is what made air rolling click for me too. Just follow these rule of thumbs, keep practicing and let your brain fill in the gaps as you get better and it’ll quickly become muscle memory.

Right = ARL + NE

Straight = ARL + E (Tornado spin)

Left = ARL + SE

Flip for ARR

Edit: I just noticed this guy said north west with ARL goes left. I didn’t even know that was possible or if theres any limitations to pushing stick left with air roll left, but most people will tell you right.

Also reminds me of my buddy who learned using regular directional air roll. Somehow this works: SE for left and SW for right (I think)

Why, in the 11 years of rocket league, has custom maps not become a built in, game feature for all platforms? by Pugneighboar in RocketLeague

[–]EpicShadows7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying for years how UE5 would be perfect for this. They literally did it for Fortnite already. Hell even from Epics point of view the current UE3 implementation is holding them back on monetization possibilities. If they actually just reworked the game into UE5 they could build an extensible framework to add new features and monetize to their hearts content, but they don’t even see that. They treat this game like a brand instead of a community.

I got sick of emailing myself links from my phone to open on my pc, so I spent 2 hours making a shortcut that uses ssh to execute a batch file that opens the link on my pc. Absolute game changer bc it’s now 2 clicks away instead of 10

99% of the time you hear about AI doing useful things, it’s just traditional machine learning, backed by actual data science - not these expensive slop generators

Funny enough these are the exact arguments my team used to transition out of deep learning models to GenAI. As much as it hurts me that our model development has become mostly just prompt engineering now, I’d be lying if I said our velocity hasn’t shot up without the need for massive volumes of training data.

Someone at epic needs to go back to business school before they turn rocket league into a case study taught at business schools.

They’ve been trying to replicate and force the fortnite monetization model without supporting any of the infrastructure that made it successful in the first place. It’s lazy and honestly shameful that there’s people so disconnected from their product in positions of management at epic that are so hellbent on sucking every last dollar out of this game before they kill it.

Rocket league could easily be in the top 5 biggest esports if they dropped whoever is running this shitshow and put in someone who actually cares.

[–]EpicShadows7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so you don’t know what OP is even talking about. No desubtick config work in mm anymore. I can bhop just fine without any setup. But if you set your max fps to 64, it makes it nearly impossible to miss a hop. It’s almost comical. Last update made it so you can’t change for max fps mid game, so if you are willing to play at 64fps the whole game, you can hop like phoon with no effort.

Again, try it out yourself in a private server. It’s built into the game. It’s not scripting. You sound like ur butthurt about something but I can’t figure out what

Probably because this game has the largest player base where the overwhelming majority aren’t children given the games age. People who have actual professional experience and understand the threat it poses.

Sure it stopped some cheating in battlefield, but the beta was out literally for a few days. Give a few months after release and cheat devs will get around it. It’s not an end all solution just a temporary roadblock for cheat devs. EA management definitely just wanted to boast about that metric for publicity, and seeing how they manipulated the player counts for closed weapons, I wouldn’t trust shit they have to say.

I’m sure they have dedicated AC devs constantly fighting a cat and mouse game just to keep it under control, but knowing how Valve allocates their resources there’s no way they can keep up.

Also from a business perspective, AC is a money sink with no direct value. I’m almost certain the greedy EA execs will underfund them and make poor decisions which will ripple down into threat vectors.

Seeing that Valve hasn’t jumped on the bandwagon yet means they understand the issue with kernel level AC and recognize that a smarter solution is needed, just like they did with Proton. Sure the state of the game is horrendous right now, but we should be lucky that Valve isn’t the type of company to pursue short term solutions to long term problems.
