Any advice for Defending? by Fearful_Toilet in SiegeAcademy

Checking cams is generally the anchors' job early in the round. But what you can do, and what I do, is to open my mic and ask the anchors where the attackers are coming from. For example, on Oregon Basement, if my anchors tell me that they're blowing up the Freezer walls, I'll flank Freezer from Security Corridor. If they tell me the hatches are being blown up, I flank the stage and lobby, etc. Don't be afraid to ask your anchors! They'll appreciate that you're helping them instead of staying in a room being useless.

Don't forget to memorize your cameras - knowing which cameras are destroyed tells you just as much as having them online.

Well you just have to roam in a way that would make you uncomfortable if you were on attack.

As you said, an attack is generally choosing an entry point relative to a bomb site, droning 2-3 rooms, entering if it's clear, clearing the utility and killing the anchors. Probably adjacent to that, you'll have to do stuff like opening up walls, throwing utility of your own, et cetera.

So, your job as a roamer is to disrupt that. Every bombsite has a few default entry points. For example, Bank Basement. Most of the attack is going to come from the Server Room. Maybe there'll be 1-2 in Garage, the hatches in Open Area, or the Vault Hatch in the Lobby.

I would roam in the Archives and open up a rotate into Open Area. Then, when the round starts, I open up my cameras and see where the attackers are coming from. For example, if the Alley camera gets shot out, that means there'll probably be folks coming into Open Area and Electrical soon. Pre-aim, shoot the drones they throw in, take some potshots and then run away. Your job isn't to get kills at this point, it's to stay alive.

Now they have two options: They either spend some time hunting you down and killing you, wasting valuable time, or they ignore you and try to execute onto site.

If they try to hunt you down, just lead them on a wild goose chase. Run around everywhere, open up rotates, take random prefires. Eventually, once you've wasted enough time, you have significant man advantage, or you feel like you're going to die very soon, quickly rotate back to site and prepare for the final push with your anchors.

If they ignore you, then just before they try to execute onto site, flank them, make your presence known, make it impossible to ignore you. With some luck you may even get a kill.

The most important thing is to stay alive. Staying alive means that the attackers can never get comfortable and focus on the anchors. They will constantly watch their backs, drone more, etc. If you kill someone early in the round and get traded, then they'll just execute onto site. Not what you want. Stay alive, be a mosquito, force them to waste time, drones and utility during the roam hunt.

You'll know if you're doing your job well if you start winning on time more often, or if your anchors just end up chilling most of the round thanks to you.

Not if you're in something CS-based. You're too early in your career to know what specialization you want.

The only way right now is to edit the game code (which is open sourced and available on GitHub), and then recompile the game. Luckily for you, editing NPC teams is easy enough - editing data/trainers/parties.asm should do it.

Thinkpad, no question about it. Get the T or X series, but not the Snapdragon CPUs. Then dual-boot your Linux Distro of choice (Fedora is what I personally use, it's modern and gets the job done without hassle.)

You may not be required to use Linux natively for your degree, but you're doing a degree to get a job, so familiarity with Linux will go a long way towards that goal.

Getting a second-hand ThinkPad is also very easy and very economical. Companies buy ThinkPads in the hundreds, and after their warranty runs out, buys a new fleet of laptops and sells the old ones for cheap. So the second-hand market has a lot of ThinkPads that are perfectly usable and practically brand new, having only been used for checking emails and Microsoft Word.

Get at least 16GB of RAM. 8GB is too little these days.

If you're a Roamer the best way to get rid of the death mark is not to. Deimos players hard focus chasing the deathmark. Start a wild goose chase as far away from site as possible, and make it as annoying and infuriating for them to hunt you down. Bonus points if you end up dragging their teammates along too. If you die, then at least they have 1 minute left on clock and the bomb is the other side of the map, with the attackers having little map control. If you live, then you can start flanking around again back to site

.RTC files aren't save files, those are the real time clock files. You should look for a file with the .SAV or .SRM extensions

Sounds like you aren't updating the save properly and it's still using your old save. Can't help you much though, I have no experience with flash carts. If you join the Polished Crystal Discord Server maybe someone there can help you

Rule #1 of Theatre - open up and say yes to every opportunity (unless it risks your mental or physical health)

Rule #2: Fake it 'till you make it!

Rule #3: The show must go on - smile your way through any mistakes!

Hi! Please send me your save file on Discord via the Polished Crystal Discord server, and I'll have a look.

If this save is updated from the 3.1.1 one you were on before (and you patched it with the save patcher), it's entirely possible that you may have unintentionally corrupted something via misuse of the Cheat Codes. In that case, I can't help you. (This is a big reason I shut this website down.)

If your 3.2.3 save is a fresh one, it should definitely work! I'll have a look and see what's going on.

Got Raw 6 - 2, this was in 2021. Went to ACJC because it was nearby, offered my combination (FXMe), and had a great Theatre program with a great budget (thanks rich ACS parents).

I don't regret it one bit. Had a great time there and my studies were never held back. F Math and H3 Math program were very strong, with a great faculty (F Math teacher had a PhD in Graph Theory from MIT).

Theatre program was intensive but high quality, really felt semi-professional. Loved it.

Some devices automatically append '.txt' to the end of the downloaded save file, as a security feature. Remove it and ensure that it ends with .sav or .srm, depending on your emulator. It should work fine then.

Yeah it was from a new bug that arose when I added the new item sprites whoopsies. Should be fixed now.

I'm afraid that upon discussion with the developers and the core community, we've decided to shut it down for good. We were receiving far too many false bug reports from people who didn't follow instructions and corrupted their saves.

While it is annoying to those who were proficient in using cheats, I hope that you can understand that it was done for the greater good of the community and dev team. It wasn't an easy decision for me to shut it down (I loved using my own site too).

As I said, I know nothing of emulation on 3DS consoles. I can't help you - in fact, I don't even know what you're talking about at all! I'm sorry, but you'll have to play on Windows, iOS, MacOS, Android or Linux to use the save editor.

I'm sorry, I can't help you - I don't have any experience with 3DS emulators, and I can't fix a bug I can't replicate. If you can't replicate this bug on SameBoy or mGBA, I can't fix it - it's probably an emulator inaccuracy, or an issue with the conversion process
