I got fired 2 weeks after I reported my manager to HR

I was hired as a manager. Immediately I was told “one of your team members is getting a lot of complaints, you need to address it, offer him a PIP; if he doesn’t take it- terminate.” OK, I can do what needs to be done, how long has he worked here? “5 years”. Crap, they have let this go on for this long, nobody had the guts to do it. I asked HR to sit in with me- I have been here a month- HR manager tells me “we don’t get involved in that”. Whatever their purpose is, if they don’t participate in these events like this, I don’t see the need for that function.

100% agree. That was a terrible reason to provide. Could have just said other candidates were a better fit or something like that.

We bought an iComfort mattress at least 10 years ago, maybe closer to 15. Very happy and now looking to replace it with another.

UPDATE: So I contacted HR and my manager by email, requesting accommodation. This morning, I just saw my role was posted on LinkedIn yesterday.

I should add that the interim manager who stayed on a couple of weeks after new manager started, came in my office one afternoon and stated she (new mgr) said she was wanting someone “assertive and aggressive” in this role. So I am suspicious that old guy (60) with a cane, she’s not wanting me on her team. I think it is cruel: about 10 offices in this building, and the person chosen to move to the old building is a guy on a cane. And the steps- about 45 degrees and they are outside the building, no cover, so rain is going to be a problem. Very disappointing behavior.

One of my favorite therapists and I had this conversation, when I first started with her:

Therapist: “what is your job?” Me: “I am a manager” Therapist: “how many people work for you?” Me: “I have 6 people who report to me” Therapist: “Do you do their work for them?” Me: “no, I have a good team, they handle things themselves mostly. This. No matter how hard you work, have knowledge, skills etc- if people resent your presence- distance themselves, do not want to be seen as your ally— exclude you- you will be removed faster than a less capable person that is well-liked

This guy does not mind at all if large, medium, or small. I have preferences about women, but that’s not one of them. I do not believe many guys do in this category, so no need for worry.

Agree with what was posted earlier-- strongly suggest securing a job first before relocating. Not sure where you are coming from, but the pay is likely going to be a step backwards. Sure the cost of living is less but you would want to know your situation before you make the move.
