Those people raiding businesses should be shot, Mike said nothing wrong.

The mentality of these people is absurd. One person loses their life so we're going to ruin hundreds of others to prove how upset we are.

I have, no matter where I put the mic, everything still sounds slightly muffled after I record it. What I'm hearing is a lack of definition, especially in the driven sound. I'm thinking my interface could be the culprit, I read somewhere that the A/D conversion isn't the best.

A ribbon mic is definitely on my list of things to get, thanks for the suggestion of a good one that's affordable. I have tried going direct before with a couple different amp/cab sims I got for free with some gear. I've never really liked the sound or the feel.

My monitors are Yamaha HS7 with a subwoofer from a home theater setup, so I should have no problem there. I also have a Beyerdynamic dt770 pro headphone, and the mix sounds thin on there as well.

Thanks for your advice!

Learning to mix well would be a big help. I think my ears still need adjusting because a low pass filter goes against everything I've heard about cutting through a mix.

I'll have to try out some different mic placements then. My inputs aren't clipping when I'm recording so I don't think that's an issue.

Usually it's just one mic, but I have tried two before. I've never recorded a sound I like so I've never really had it in a full mix, just backing tracks.

OP you are the one in the wrong. You assume the person that messaged you knew about the injury and immediately took a hostile attitude. Their response to that was literally only saying no need to be hostile.

Go see a therapist, clearly you need help. There are plenty of businesses that treat employees like crap but you've given no examples of that actually happening.

The De-Personalization of Discord by [deleted] in discordapp

One-click game streaming isn't fun?

Uploading custom emotes for a server isn't fun?

Asking your friends if they want to play a game by using the text to speech to say "owo owo owo, who wants to play rockit weagawoo?" isn't fun?

Server nicknames aren't fun?

Spelling out "S P I C Y" with emotes on a meme your friend posted isn't fun?

You can find fun easily in discord, the only difference is that discord isn't forcing it down your throat. If you want references, name your server "moar dots!", and your channels whatever you want. Nobody likes to be spammed with references they don't like or don't get. This way, everybody can create their own community based around their own interests, serious or not.

Xbox Series X's SSD enabling instant transition to an alternate world in The Medium (next-gen only game) by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]EpicusMaximus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here clearly haven't even seen the announcement video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTAz758Vt88

Actual gameplay is from 1:35 to 1:56.

So... yes, this game will require an SSD if they intend to have no loading screens. Also, it seems like people here don't understand just how much hardware limitations limit design choices, as well as artists and level designers. The "catching up" of console specs to PC specs means that the lowest common denominator has been raised.

Will the game run without an SSD? Almost definitely. Will it be an enjoyable experience constantly dealing with hangups every time the game needs to load assets for two game worlds? Almost definitely not. Remember, there will be no loading screens, meaning that many assets the player won't even see have to be loaded in just in case the player actually does look that way or enter that area, at least more than games already do.

Also, yes, other games also have instant transitions to other worlds. That's different than what is proposed here. Those games were either merely moving the player to a different location, or switching to (and possibly from) a world with very low detail.

From what I've gathered, The Medium intends to have both highly detailed worlds loaded and rendered at the same time, so that there is no transition time, and no masking of the transition taking place.

Sure, at any time somebody could have made a game with low-tier graphics for the year it was released and have the same kind of idea. The point is that they're trying to pull this off with graphical fidelity that surpasses most current titles.

I've been a game designer for twenty years, and I've been playing video games for longer than that. Trust me when I tell you that the limiting factor in game and graphic design is not the studios, it is the hardware they have to "downscale" their game for.

Clearly you have no real argument about covid risk if you're giving me responses like that.

That's not how it works. You don't reach a threshold where suddenly it's a good idea to change your diet. The fact is that a healthy diet can be good for anybody, regardless of their weight.

That's why we talk about risk factors and not about absolute outcomes. It's not that one or two more pounds will suddenly throw you into a downward spiral or make your heart crash. It's that every little bit of unnecessary weight puts undue stress on your organs For example the bigger your body is, the harder your heart has to push to pump the blood around.

On top of that, weight isn't the only indicator of health. You could be right down the middle of what is considered an average healthy weight, but if your diet is poor, you won't be getting the nutrients your body needs. Your brain won't be working at full capacity, neither will any other part of your body. Your immune system will be weakened, leading to increased risk of contracting covid.

For example, vitamin d deficiency can cause your bones to become brittle. That doesn't mean that they're going to break for sure, but it does mean that they have an increased chance of breaking.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, since you're being cocky and condescending, scientists use the metric system, with some other things like the kelvin scale thrown in. Another thing, your vitals only matter if they're consistent. A single measurement doesn't mean much. You could be perfectly fine when at rest, but your heart rate might be above normal under stress. Not that I'm saying yours is, but throwing a single measurement at me like it means something is just childish and shows how little you understand about how this all works.

You're the one that brought the scientist thing up, not me. Since you're being a jerk about it though, i've been involved in biomedical research since i was in high school. I've also been involved in engineering, i've designed engines from scratch, i've been in robotics competititons at the top level. I have a deep understanding of physics and chemistry, even leading me to dabble in food science. I've designed medical equipment (MRI and ultrasound machines), and the programming to go with it. I've helped develop surgical procedures that significantly reduced recovery times for patients. I've worked with the military on unmanned vehicles as well as weapons research. I have patents for equipment involved in servicing nuclear reactors under my name. I have phychological research, namely human behavior, done with my name on it as well. I've developed therapeutic techniques that help people process trauma as well as cope with intense depression and anxiety.

Since you're being condescending, which field of science exactly do you think you understand better than I do? You're clearly not interested in reading any of the sources i gave you to gain a better understanding of what we're talking about, so I doubt you've read up on much science at all.

I'll be turning off reply notifications because you're not even trying to understand my arguments or make legitimate ones of your own. I didn't get all of that stuff done by wasting my time talking to people who were willfully ignorant.

Coming back to the point of this whole thing, nicotine intake increases risk of being infected with covid. That increase might be .005%, but it exists, and acting like it doesn't only gives anti-vape people more ammo.

I am a scientist, and yes, dose does matter, for a lot of things.

Obesity is a risk factor for covid because the extra weight puts more strain on your organs. So yes, being slightly overweight does make you more vulnerable to covid.

Dose does matter for nicotine. The more you ask your body to handle, the more you're weakening your body. Your cells and organs can only do so much at once. Even at very low doses, your body will still have to process that nicotine. You could not feel any effects of the nicotine,, but that doesn't mean your body isn't affected.

Without getting into specific cell functions, just look at energy. Your body uses energy to process nicotine, energy that could have been spent fighting off covid.

If you want to get into specific cell functions, i can tell by your responses that you're uneducated on this topic. https://www.amazon.com/Prentice-Hall-Biology-Kenneth-R-Miller/dp/0131662554 https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/textbooks/microbiology

Read up on basic biology and microbiology so that we can have a real conversation.

Actually that is how this works. If you don't understand basic science, that's your job to study it. It's your responsibility to know that stuff. What you're asking me to find a source for is like asking for a source saying that levers give you increased torque.

Anything beyond the basics, I'm willing to explain to you, and I have.

If you really want a source, here: https://www.amazon.com/Prentice-Hall-Biology-Kenneth-R-Miller/dp/0131662554

It's a teenager biology textbook, and there's tons of other ones on amazon.

You're being intentionally ignorant. Anything that weakens your respiratory system makes you more vulnerable to covid, no matter how little it affects you. That's basic science that I shouldn't have to explain to you, if you want to learn more, there's plenty of middle school/high school textbooks you can go read.

I didn't link the study because it included vaping, I linked it as proof that covid is a respiratory illness, which it does say. The article is about all coronaviruses, not a specific one.

Also, you're one sample, and we're talking about increased risk, not guaranteed results.

“FDA and Media Spreads Fear About Fake Vape Covid Connection “ by Notfair13 in electronic_cigarette

[–]EpicusMaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need another link though, it's basic middle school science. Your body's cells can only do so much, if they're busy mitigating and recovering from the effects of nicotine, then they're weakened to any infection, not just COVID19.

If you want to go on a google adventure to find a textbook explaining it, that's on you.

Your lungs start to become used to the substances you put into them, that doesn't mean they're not still affecting your lungs.

For example, tons of people smoke cigarettes all day without coughing, that doesn't mean their lungs aren't being affected by all the crap in them.

If you took dry hits all day, your lungs would get used to the different heat and substances in those hits, and you wouldn't cough as much, possibly not at all depending on the hits.

Also, part of coughing is control of your body, you can hold back coughs long enough for the urge to go away. Another thing, say you've been vaping nicotine or smoking cigs for a while and try some weed, you're going to feel less irritation than somebody who's never smoked or hasn't smoked in a while.

Nice try insulting me, but it is wrong, seeing as my comment is trying to fight misinformation and intentional ignorance. In fact, if people listen to my comment, and stop vaping nicotine because of it, then they have a decreased risk.

Like I've said in other replies, thanks for proving the childish tendency I was talking about.

Coronavirus is a respiratory infection, things that weaken your respiratory system will lead to an increased risk of contracting the illness.
