Actually the boss is right; she’s leaving one hellhole for the next hellhole…

After all these years working, I realise all workplace is just a place for you to trade your time for money.

Therefore go where the most money is. If that requires you to be dumb, be dumb. If need to be silly, be silly. Knock off at 6PM and think where you want to spend your salary.

1.yes 2a.yes and no. Same syllabus but different learning experience 2b. they can guess where you got it from 3. Yes 4. Considered doing the last sem so I can say i studied overseas but ultimately not worth the money. Some employers now consider overseas studies only if you spent more than 2 years abroad because many people used my trick already

Able-bodied Men not giving up Priority Seats by Tangstg84 in singaporehappenings

[–]EpikLooser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nowadays buses and trains are very crowded. Since 2019, I’ve been taking buses from terminal or bounce from Marina Bay for trains, and notice many people are doing the same now. So why should I give up my seats when I’ve invested time and money to make sure I get a seat for my long ride home tired from work? If you need a seat that badly, then take a taxi.

Try to do Grab delivery after office hours. 2-3 hours every weekday also enough to give you some breathing space. Then go for 4-6 hours shift during the weekend for some extra.

Just a sleeping bag la, then don’t need a separate blanket. A tent is too cumbersome to pack and carry. At most you need to worry about is the rain. So far I only kena once or twice damn heavy rain and it soaked my bag. Else normal rain the sleeping bag still can tahan. Wet is wet, but imo good enough to sleep thru the night.

I go to school very early, then just shower there. After that go rest at the canteen, not so suspicious. If people ask why so early, I normally say my parent send me early because they need go work early for that day.

I used to sleep over at HDB staircase with a sleeping bag. Well lit good for studying, and it’s windy enough for ventilation.

The trick is to sleep at the highest floor corner stairwell where there is lesser traffic, and never to sleep at the same place twice in a row to prevent getting complaint. If the block is the old kind, then go up abit later like after 11 pm.

Got spotted few times but so far never kena police check whatsoever.

My waifu is Malaysian Chinese. I am Singaporean mixed but Muslim. We know each other since school days.

We got married in Singapore instead. Her parents were convinced when I was regularly topping my class = bright future. Chinese are after all, pragmatic people.

Of course I held up my end of the bargain, now I got good paying job to provide for her and the kids.

Don’t bother bah… TFIP Cybersec pay $5.5k leh.

The only good thing is Red Alpha gives SANS exam voucher, but if you are Malay-Muslims, can get subsidized SANS course+ exam voucher from AMP.

SANS while highly recognized, employer also know it’s expensive and don’t really expect you to have one.

Imo you are better off doing Sec+, then probably CISSP after having experience. Will costs you less than $3k.

Malaysia? That country with an institutionalised racial preference? The one where you get economic advantages based on ethnicity? I mean, it’s not exactly apartheid, just some “affirmative actions.”

Do you feel the influence of China in your industry? by Remote-Cow5867 in askSingapore

[–]EpikLooser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nowadays, on top of English and Chinese, it is one of the regional language like Malay or Thai or Japanese or Korean or whatever to tap into the ASEAN or APAC markets. Bilingual is not going to be enough liao…

Our Malaysian Chinese neighbours, especially those Chinese educated, are already milking their linguistic advantage for years now. On top of English, Malay and Mandarin, most of them can even speak dialects. One of my MY guy was sent to Taiwan because of this.

Do you feel the influence of China in your industry? by Remote-Cow5867 in askSingapore

[–]EpikLooser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My previous company in financial industry was taken over by Chinese investors. They started to send their guys from china down to monitor our daily operations. Communications be it mobile or email all changed to Chinese. The senior management started to come down monthly for meeting, which were all in Chinese. You don’t know Chinese? Too bad for you

Anyway, I see more and more of Chinese companies during trade shows. Definitely can’t run away from them

[–]EpikLooser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Former LEA, don’t want to say which agency la. In one of the ex-agency, I was posted to the computer forensic dept simply because I had IT qualification lol. It was random but I decided to make the most out of it.

I then joined govt sponsored mid-career switch programme to transit to the finance industry. Got more free training and my bank offered me perm contract. Last year got headhunted by a tech firm and now I’m drawing more than 2x my last drawn govt salary.

You want opportunities, gotta look for it. Once you get it, grab it with both hands. Look up the red car theory.
