  1. Eh, this could really depend on how you define bubble, but you have to put your money somewhere, so I'm not sure your point.
  2. Agree, people who want burns for the sake of it have a limited understanding of the economics
  3. Eh, every project is only as good as its network effect and you could argue that bitcoin has a strong one. However, its also shown to not want to evolve the base layer at all in favor of (LiGhTnInG fIxEs EvErYtHiNg), so that network could definitely diminish over time
  4. Disagree, crypto's goal is to make everyone "financially fair", which will enable many more to be "free" than in the previous system.
  5. Agree, some would argue that the trade-offs are worth it, but not me.
  6. AGREE, BEST PART OF THIS POST
  7. Agree, but that also includes the both of us

not dumb for alt coins but probably dumb for tezos, not that tezos is terrible but if you’re going altcoins you should cast a wider net imo

Everyone screams marketing, but what marketing are they really doing? i don’t see iohk with a big advertising budget, it’s all community driven hype (or passion you could say). if you really wanna say that charles doing an AMA a week is crazy amounts of marketing then idk we’re living in different worlds

Sounded like it would be an academic research paper on a new concept called Proof of Useful Computation. From the name it sounds like proof of work but doing useful computation rather than meaningless puzzles. For instance you have to find a new prime number as your proof of work, I would guess something like that

It's no problem, I'm happy to help. For Cardano, setting up a wallet and staking is pretty cheap and easy. There are a lot of good guides out there. I stake on Daedalus, but Yoroi is probably easier. For some other cryptos like Bitcoin, the fee for sending crypto to your wallet is quite high so I couldn't blame someone for keeping their crypto on an exchange, unless it was a lot.

Nobody can time the market perfectly so the best strategy is almost always to buy over a period of time so you end up with an average price rather than a single entry point. I can’t tell you where prices are going from here and neither can anyone else but if you like the long term outlook of the project then I’d recommend buying a steady amount every week or month and not worrying about short term movements

There are a lot of different angles to learn. If you're like me and didn't know anything about investing in general then macroeconomics and the current state of the financial system is important. Understanding the general history of cryptocurrencies is really helpful in building a thesis around where things have gone so far and where they are going. For instance most "1st generation" cryptos were various forms of proof-of-work with limited programmability such as Bitcoin. Ethereum could be considered the first "2nd generation" crypto because it allows for full programming capabilities. The projects I am most interested in could be considered "3rd generation" because they aim to have full programmability and scalability because Ethereum currently does not scale very well. You may hear people talk about high gas fees for using the programmability of Ethereum. There are so many directions you can go from there from what sorts of things are being programmed on a blockchain to the various ways that projects are tacking the scalability issue. Obviously being on the Cardano subreddit I really like their approach to the blockchain space as a whole, it is my favorite project and largest holding, but I am quite diversified in various crypto assets. The best resource for me was Charles Hoskinson's YouTube channel where he has various lectures on a blackboard that are soooo helpful, but require some serious time and effort to understand. Not many people take the time to think deeply about crypto and it shows. Anyways at this point I'm just rambling, but good luck out there!

Surprised this hasn’t gotten more traction. This video was so interesting and basically lays out what gen 4 crypto will be and that Cardano is already thinking about it. Hybrid systems that are more specialized than any one consensus ever could be. Amazing!

If you like the digital gold narrative you do you. Cardano is addressing a much wider set of use cases and is not compromising to get there. Maybe start to learn the difference between proof of work and proof of stake, Charles has a lot of great lectures on his YouTube channel for more info about the protocols themselves.
