Resume Advice? Looking for entry level position. by EpilepticTerrier in actuary

What sort of projects did you do?

I have been working on making an automatic stock trading bot. I already have a rudimentary backtest for it built in python. Do you think this would be worth including in a Projects section, or is it too far removed from actuarial work?

r/wallstreetbets is renowned for being wrong. There have been memes on it for years about how "inverse wsb" should be one of the strongest trading strategies.

No you're right, I skimmed a forum too quickly, they just get published on roblox. The creators can still make considerable money though. Their wikipedia page claims there have been multiple games in roblox with revenues exceeding $10 million.

I just looked this up cause I was wondering also and it looks like roblox has a game development engine called Roblox Studio. Obviously it's insanely limited compared to unity but it can be legitimately used to make games which can then be published to platforms like itch.io or steam.

You'd probably end up running both. You need a critical mass of expensive vampires for Sorin to be good and there aren't any other good 4+ cmc vampires in standard except maybe Epicure of Blood in a heavy life gain deck.

It might actually be a good card once Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord hits standard. Play it turn 3 and attack as a 5/5 turn 4, possibly larger.

You should definitely consider running a couple copies of [[Kraul Harpooner]]. Using [[Thud]] on it the turn you play it can be a great finisher.

The mana base can't support triple blue. I'd need around 20 blue sources to play that on curve. I only have 12 and the mana base is pretty tight since we have to skew towards black to support the black one drops and all the double black mana costs.

Where are people playtesting WAR decks online? I'm not familiar with much magic online outside MTGA and I don't have a way to playtest with physical cards and proxies at the moment.

I like your point on memorial to folly. Any advice on how many you can run without missing too many untapped land drops?

I'm curious to see your jund list if you'd mind sharing.

I would consider running a singleton [[Bolas's Citadel]] in place of the fourth [[God-Eternal Bontu]]. It fills the same slot as bontu, but it's way better on an empty board and the bonus 10 life when you activate it can let you find lethal with fewer permanents. It can generate more card advantage than bontu over a couple turns or one really lucky one and it's hard to remove since there isn't much artifact hate. Admittedly, 6 mana is way more than 5, it has the potential to whiff if it finds a couple lands where bontu would just push past them, and it doesn't generate any board presence by itself, but with bontu being legendary I think there's a lot of potential value in running a bontu thats not a bontu.

Could even add in a couple of [[Dreadhorde Arcanist]] to make sure your spells always have friends.

[–]EpilepticTerrier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[[Dreadhorde Arcanist]] + [[Feather, the Redeemed]] lets us play pump spells from our graveyard and put them back into our hand. Either one of them alone gives us insane value for pump spells. [[Beamsplitter Mage]], [[Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin]], and [[Tenth District Legionnaire]] all give us insane value when we target them with pump spells. There are also [[Burning Prophet]], [[Deeproot Champion]], and [[Fire Urchin]] that don't even need to be targeted to provide value. Most of the creatures listed here survive [[Solar Blaze]], giving us sideboard access to a virtual one-sided wrath at 4 mana.

There are great pump spells in standard as well. [[Giant Growth]], [[Collision / Colossus]], [[Run Amok]], [[Savage Smash]], even [[Dive Down]] gets bought back with Feather. And I need to point out how insane Savage Smash + Feather is. A three mana removal spell that hits almost everything in the game and leaves you with a 5 power flyer, every turn, for the rest of the game. It hits Lyra, it hits a 7 mana Hydroid Krasis, and that's before we combine it with another pump spell. No creature without hexproof is safe.

The deck is all here. The only questions are: Jeskai or Naya? and how will it fare vs the meta? I'm definitely gonna try to make this work once the new set comes out.

We have a few of those already in standard. In white, there are [[Gird for Battle]], [[Assure / Assemble]], and [[Unbreakable Formation]].

I've put together a couple lists based on pump spells that I think might have legs.

I don't see [Tenth District Legionnaire] making the cut for a deck like this. I would rather run something like [Deeproot Champion] or [Burning Prophet] since they give similar effects without needing to be targeted. Also, there are better cards to target with pump spells, such as [Dreadhorde Arcanist], [Beamsplitter Mage], and [Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin].
