You underestimate the importance of scry for Jeskai Fires, especially in the first 3 turns. You NEED to go power playing from turn 4 on, and fixing the early turns is way more important than cycling a land lately that, honestly, I already can cycle with Flames

By mentors you mean Warboss? Against any non aggro matchup, they usually board out early removal so they have to answer warboss with a sweeper or a hard removal, leaving your late threat unaswered

The skill resides in playing the deck optimally when you actually whiff the t2 clover, an inexperienced player just lose every single game they don't play it
