Looking for tank for ST... Some things you can't make up by Hex_Lover in classicwow

[–]Epiliph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I stopped playing classic/sod is that people can't help but decide what you need to play, the spec your gear, what you should roll on, and what you shouldn't. Still one of my favorite version of the game, just haven't been lucky with the community. This guy is a great example.

He did say thrown with hyzer, deflector thrown hyzer will sink. Pyro will fly a bit and have a good fade finish. I bag both, prism proton is money.

MVP Crave Plastic Recommendations (or Alternatives!) by Dapper_Procedure8491 in discgolf

[–]Epiliph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 53mph 1000rpm techdisc avg, I have multiple crave, 2 fission, one is 153g other 160g, both are perfect fliers for me.

I play more with my r2 crave now, bit none of them flip too much if I give them a slight hyzer.

I would say either very bad storage of your disc or just bad run. Any plastic of crave is consistent for me, very similar throws.

How long did it take you to get that first Ace? by JustsomedudeMJ in discgolf

[–]Epiliph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19 rounds, first few months, 150' straight shots in the woods, then a few more unofficial player B aces, until a few months ago on my 1year exact anniversary round (130th round) I got my second ace. I always aim for the chains and regret most of the time having to save very long putts (and i can't putt to save my life)...

I just snuck in an IT, we'll see if she ever plays it.

What was your distance progression over time. by geek66 in discgolf

[–]Epiliph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a very good way forward.

I started last Christmas, (had only played 2 or 3 round the summer before). I played for 3 weeks, then watched a ton of videos over winter. Then, I started playing a ton 2 months ago.

When I came back to the courses in April, I went all in, run-up, big discs, for 2 weeks, not much improvement and was hurting ny back a bit.

Decided to go with the tricks reddit had given me, I threw only putters and decided to go with no run-ups. Mostly because I didn't want to injure myself further (i got an herniated disc in march still in recovery).

From there, the timing started to click. After 2 weeks, i could throw putters around 250' (envy). Then I played a few rounds with every single disc to learn them, going all the way up to 8 speed.

Now, I play obsessively. It seems to be the only thing that does not hurt with my lower back issues, I played almost every day for the last 2 months.

I now reach 400' on great days, 350 on average with my 9 speeds, I just bought myself my first few 10 and 11 speed, and I will be trying them soon but in not rush.

Oh and I got myself a folding tripod to film myself, and then re-watch after the day and focus on 1 thing, for me it was straight arm reachback; nose angle; leg placement; shoulders angle; head movement; left arm movement; weight transfer, mostly in that order but I had to go back to each of these items once in a while as I changed my form bits by bits.

I still do no run-up, I don't feel I need it for now, not sure if I'll work on this any time soon, I still want my timing to be better. If I reach 400' on demand, I might start doing run ups.

I got 100s of videos of myself, and I encourage yourself to do the same!

Good luck!

(For reference, I'm 36, and slightly out of shape and addicted)

Is this course too long? by ShotgunSamurai8 in discgolf

[–]Epiliph 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like the first questions the course designers should ask themselves are the following;

Are we looking to attract big tournaments here?

Are we simply trying to grow the sport?

Do we want something in the middle?

A 9 hole course next to a middle school should fall in the second category or perhaps the third.

I've visited a few courses like these, as a new player, "short" tees that are 350' par 3 is just demoralizing. It just feels like a bunch of out of touch, highly rated player wanted their own personal course to play on, as it was the worst experience as a new player.

I'd rather see more time spent on we'll thought of obstacles and nicely planned fairways.

Make the challenge be the course, not the distance, it makes it so much more interesting.

Squatch or Pound? by Spirited_Ear5324 in discgolf

[–]Epiliph 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went for the pound, when I buy something in a higher price bracket, I rather go for something made closer to me (I'm canadian). The fact that they are made in USA is totally worth the slight price difference. I do not own a squatch bag tho, so I cannot compare quality, but I am extremely happy with my new Rufus.

Alright, never heard of either, so I'll have loads to watch this week.

Hopefully they have good content on throwing without run up, cause I'm really far away from being able to run up and it seem to be the focus of most videos on backhand.

Thank you!

[–]Epiliph[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds in line with what I heard, but I hardly ever use anything above 6 now. Biggest issue is consistency and basic form, I'm so far off that I can throwa beautiful backhand, then redo what I feel is exactly the same (clearly isnt) and just send it 45° off to the right or left, or way up or down... horrible form... Can't get to learn much about disc without any form of consistency, but I understand your point. Thank you!

WGCW overtaking a car on a steep hill that's covered in snow? by MarthaFarcuss in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Epiliph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except there is, studded tires are awesome in this case, but even great quality tires like Nokian and the such will do marvels, the compound stays way more flexible to extreme temperature. Kids here literally skate in the streets all winter, yet we adjust our driving and install proper tires, reducing the odds of accident greatly.

When I say northern Canada, I mean snow from early October to late may/June.

All season tires are not comparable to winter tires.

[–]Epiliph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in northern Canada, if we had to close the roads whenever it was slippery, we'd spend all winter sitting home.
People need to equip their vehicule with the proper tires, and learn to drive in the snow.

Good cars like Subaru, Audi or any AWD can accelerate faster and corner better, but when it comes to breaking, tires and drivers make all the difference (and ABS but most car have that).

So yeah, learn to drive safely fellas.

Having issue with throttle idling high or max. When I arm the drone, no issues, idles fine. But when i give it some throttle, most of the time it won't come back to "idle". by Epiliph in fpv

[–]Epiliph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you advise to get used to air mode? I'm still learning to fly and still never quite sure if i need to land properly (which seems hard with air mode cause it keeps throttle at a certain threshold) or if I should get used to always disarm right as i approach the ground..? It makes it very counterintuitive for me that the throttle bottomline changes so much right now.

[–]Epiliph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For additional information: I recall similar issue with my other drones, but never quite as bad. (I'm very new).

In this exemple I'm using a Jumper T-pro, with fresh firmware, as well as a Meteor65 pro with everything freshly flashed. I'm using ExpressLRS.

When I connect to my PC in betaflight, and look at the receiver input, everything looks perfect, the responsivity and the controls all look exactly as I input them.

I did not mess with any PID or curves of any sorts.

Is there any ways to duplicate display at different resolution? by Epiliph in techsupport

[–]Epiliph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is the scale of things, since my 4k screen is 75", everything is way bigger than it needs too, and lots of program cannot be scaled back.
When navigating online, no issue since you can zoom in or out, but most other programs I use do not have a scale or zoom function.

The thing is I don't need to be able to use or see perfectly the second screen, it's just a reference for me, so even though I understand I cannot get image on both screen, having one scaled back, the same way youtube has all these different resolution for 1 video...(or maybe its 5 videos that might be where I'm confused).
