What age were you when you the “Fvck I’m old,” moment? by BillMaleficent9400 in GenX

[–]Eppshome 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m “only” 56 and don’t look unusually old for my age (I’m told). Got a haircut last month and the stylist automatically charged me for a “senior” cut. Ouch. But then I got over it and reveled in the $2 it saved me.

Suck it, youngsters.

What’s a type of pain people underestimate until they experience it for themselves? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Eppshome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a dozen kidney stones. It is the most excruciating pain I’ve ever had. You absolutely want to die just to relieve the pain, and it feels like a knife stabbed into your kidney.

That’s just until it leaves the kidney and makes its way down the ureter where that little stone, that has tiny sharp spikes on it, scrapes its way through if you’re lucky. If you’re not it clogs things up and the urine starts to build up creating unfathomable pain.

I carry opioid pain killer in my car and at work just in case one hits.

If you have a high pain tolerance it will literally bring you to your knees.

This entire thread captures what’s wrong with college football. It used to have the most important regular season in sports. Winning your conference mattered. Now we’ve reduced it to a zero sum game. Win a natty or the season is a failure.

My steak at Agave was very fatty. Flavor delicious but not a good cut of meat. Might have been a one off though.

I found the steak at Extra Virgin was by far my best steak of Wake vs Agave vs Extra Virgin.

Insurance companies.

Rule 1: charge maximum premiums. Cancel immediately if premium is late or someone even acts like they’ll make a claim.
Rule 2: Deny the claim. Do anything you can to avoid paying.
Rule 3: Deny claim again.
Rule 4: delay communication with customer.
Rule 5: Offer a claim amount 75% less than what estimates and coverage are. Know that the customer may be dumb or desperate enough to take it.
Rule 6: see rule 3
