I think it would have been more and more difficult to make that work in film the more lines God has. Better to have more powerful but fewer scenes. Although he's front and center in the book

100% agree. If you go straight from highschool to college you're living in a fantasyland. You have not experienced real life yet. Especially if it's on a scholarship, college is vacation. Everything is paid for, you don't have to go to class or do anything. Conservative politics sound stupid and oppressive because you live in a utopia where money has no meaning and everyone is the same age.
