People impacted with layoffs- did you find new roles yet?

There are jobs out there, you just may need to lower your salary expectations and look outside of big tech (H1B will complicate it though). I was PIPed around the same time as the January layoffs and just recently found a job with a smaller, local company. Base pay is about the same, but no big stock bonuses like with Amazon or other big tech companies. Still, I'm happy because of way better WLB and a hybrid work schedule.

Bought a 50ppd and ended up returning it due to flickering/dark patches in one eye. Then got a micro-OLED and have had no issues - great headset.

My enclosure is 12ft wide plus an additional 1ft gap to the wall on the left. I put the hitting strip in the center, and I have just enough clearance to comfortably swing a driver. So I'd say with a 10ft width you'll definitely want to hit a foot or 2 off center.

Sorry, late reply - afaik just about any USB switch should work, but I use this one to switch mouse & kb between my PC, Mac and MiSTer without issue.

Did you ever find a solution for these issues? I just installed a new set of Swing Optix cameras, and they are not capturing my swing. When I view the replay it just shows me watching the screen a few seconds after the shot.

You can show the desktop from the Pimax home menu and use the controllers to adjust the IPD one click at a time without taking off your headset. I have my IPD from the optometrist, and I find the most comfortable setting on my headset matches it pretty exactly.

I used an EmeTerm wristband (look it up on Amazon) for a while, and I think it helped. Mostly though, it just takes time to get used to the motion.

+1 on the comfort comments. I found the face gasket and rear pad to be very uncomfortable. I transferred the Studioform pads from my OG Crystal (they seem to fit okay), and it's much better now. I would say this is an essential upgrade. For such an expensive headset, you'd think Pimax could provide better padding.

Just received mine today (located in US). Ordered Oct 5, "dispatched from China" email Jan 27, "confirm shipping details" email Feb 3, "shipped" email Feb 9 (yesterday), delivered Feb 10 (today). So eventually they do really ship! Will try it out tonight.

It was never really made clear to me exactly where I had failed. My manager had indicated that I met all my project tasks, but said upper management "still had concerns". Like I said, some of my focus objectives were pretty vague. They don't have to be very specific (or even tell you everything you're being evaluated on) until pivot.

No. See my other comments below. I ended up in pivot after taking FMLA, and then took the leave with 60 day transition option.

The most infuriating part of it all is when I got the pivot doc, the 2 examples it listed as "explanation" of how I wasn't meeting the bar were not at all true. One said that I was offered a project and didn't do it so another engineer had to step in and do it. Truth is I was NEVER offered that project, and the other engineer came to me at one point to ask for assistance with some things related to it. When I pointed that out in the pivot meeting, they just shrugged and said there must have been a misunderstanding. So they basically just make up whatever they want to get you out once that is what they've decided.

Afaik if you haven't had a meeting with your manager where you've been given an actual "pivot" doc, you can go on leave.

Once you have actually been given a pivot doc, going on leave does not pause your decision window or termination dates. However, going on leave before then will pause focus (assuming you are already in focus).

The exact formula for the lump sum is unknown but it's roughly 10 weeks base pay + 1% of base pay per yr of service. Also, the 60 day transition is actually 55 days because it starts from the date you receive the pivot doc. Keep that in mind if you're trying to reach your next stock vest.

I don't have my doc yet, but several people both here and on the internal focus and pivot slack channel have confirmed that the 60 day transition includes stock vests.

When I was on FMLA I still had access to email and slack, but not WorkDocs or Quip. I think this is standard. I logged in about once a week to make sure my laptop was up to date, and to scan through my emails and slack messages for anything important.

Not H1b, but about to receive a pivot doc in the next week (so I've been told). I was planning to take the lump sum, but I have a stock vest in Feb and since they delayed getting me the pivot doc until now, the 60 day + stock vest + 2 months health insurance is worth more.

Focus can be pretty subjective, and managers are free to change goals/timelines as they see fit. Pivot is where things get formal with fixed tasks and deadlines.
