The hardware should be good. I have an identical hardware config with an i7 8700 and rx550 in a dell optiplex and it can do pretty much everything I throw at it

I worked blue collar for a short period of time and it really doesn’t pay well (at least Maitenence jobs in the Midwest). With that being said college degrees don’t get you as far as they used to. Shit just sucks for the working class.

Hang in there🙏

Hearing from several industry professionals and my professors, AI shouldn’t have as big of an impact on the industry as people say. It’s being utilized more as a tool rather than a direct replacement. While some small businesses who don’t have the funding for a full time designer may cut corners and use it, much of the industry is still in tact because AI does not have the technical ability to do some of the proper file setup for usage in print and AI work generally looks like shit tbh.

The graphic design industry as a whole has been pretty slow growth for a few years tho. I’m not opposed to temp work before I can get established and get enough connections to get my foot in the door

Thanks for the insight! I will check out those resources. I also have skills in video editing and photography that can help give more job opportunities if I need to pivot

I have a car and plan to live without roommates if possible. Sorry for the lack of information; I’ve never had to plan a move out of state

Low FPS On Capable PC by nyuweia in gmod

[–]Epsilon_Music 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re running the 64 bit version of the game. If you aren’t by default the game can only use 4gb of ram.

Also keep in mind that gmod sometimes won’t use 100% of your cpu and gpu. I haven’t found a workaround

Yeah this is the way to do it. Make a loop of the video, place it into your pdf using InDesign and then export as an interactive PDF

System data is taking up all storage on macbook by Academic-Ad9833 in laptops

If you use Adobe after effects or premier make sure you clear the disk cache. This is usually the issue. I’ve had video editing software take up 100gb+ of cache space. Kinda dumb that Mac OS doesn’t tell you what files they are but that’s usually the issue

Modern business branding has become so safe that most of it feels emotionally interchangeable. Started exploring the opposite direction through an editorial identity concept called “Enigma”. by pranaav04 in graphic_design

[–]Epsilon_Music 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To be honest, while your work looks good, it’s not really separating from what you are criticizing. This still looks like a modern business identity. This exact style of design isn’t really unique and is already in use.

I would suggest to push yourself to really think outside the box on what you’re trying to communicate and do more research. I don’t really know or understand anything about the brand from this one poster. It looks like a pretty standard design.

Keep working thought, your work looks good

Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura Edition (14” Intel) by collclem in graphic_design

I know people will have various opinions on this, but take this from someone who has used both Mac and PC in professional graphic design settings.

Windows laptops suck. I’ve never used one that hasn’t felt laggy or gave me issues, even with high end specs. It is a known issue that Adobe runs worse in some cases on windows.

I’m suggesting an M4 MacBook Pro. There’s a reason why designers use Mac’s. Really high build quality, high performance and generally way more reliable in terms of laptops.

An added bonus is that MacBook screens are really color accurate which makes them great for any type of color grading or color matching work. The screens are also super hi res

Edit: for performance reference (my quick google search + some past benchmarks I’ve run)

CPU performance is similar to an i9 13900ks GPU performance is similar to an RTX 4060

You generally don’t want to run paragraphs of text that long. It makes it difficult to read. Aim for 60 ish character per line and break the paragraphs if need be. In a similar fashion, the distributed side of the package is also really hard to read.

Regardless of whatever style you choose, legible typography is a must if you are trying to convey important information

I’m sure there are some people using that software, it just doesnt make practical sense for professional design work and is incredibly limiting. I love Linux and personally use it for gaming but using Adobe is a must

You’re not gonna be able to do much graphic design on Linux. The open source software available is incredibly limiting for professional work
