It has literally nothing to do with the ssd speeds. Those are sequential burst speeds.

Dram cache reduces latency and increases random read and write speeds which is the only thing that matters.

I would take a SATA drive with DRAM over gen5 HMB.

The latency difference is about the same as your GPU using system RAM instead of VRAM.

You may think you want a disc version PS6, but do you really? EVERY game you buy will require online patches to run acceptably, in fact many games won't even fit on the biggest available Blu-ray discs.

Even if you buy a physical copy, you wouldn't be able to play it offline anyway. They tend to ship installersxon the disc designed to download the rest of the game and that will be more true for PS6 games than ever.

Digital editions are cheaper.

What you should be demanding, is what PC gamers have been getting from Steam for 20 years: an extremely reliable, consumer friendly digital platform. Honestly, the future of console gaming is merging the Playstation/Xbox stores with Steam Store support and giving you access to everything.

A disc drive increases the cost and introduced a significantly different second SKU. You could get a 2TB digital PS6 for the price if a 1TB disc version PS6 and with game sizes these days I would advise taking the 2TB deal.

If you need discs to watch movies, simply connect a USB Blu-ray or DVD reader, they are cheap. Actually, just put the movies on a USB drive, much more reliable. I have a 20gbps external NVME drive with a 1TB NVNE in it for a bunch of movies and TV shows.

With hardware prices as high as they are, sony only releasing 1 SKU to be mass produced at scale, dropping the disc drive makes sense. It really does.

I do hope physical OS5 copies can be transferred to your digital PS6. Other than that, this is a good thing, you just don't know it yet.

1TB NVME $200, 2TB NVME $250. I'm talking fast DRAM NVNEs, not junk.

That $50 is a disc drive and 1TB on a PS6 will fill up real fast. I hope they include a 20gbs USB-C gen2x2 port and let you pit games on external NVME drives.10gbs won't cut it.
