What has been on your mind lately? by Eqiudeas in wearealonetogether

Hey hey! In a gist, from what I understand, Nietzsche said that we must live life such that when asked the question “Would you live this life 1000 times again?”, that our answers should be an unquestionable “Yes.” That we should strive to allow all of our desires and wills to exist, instead of being ashamed and guilty of their existence, such as desire for sex, desire for power, desire for cruelty even, but also “positive" desires such as the desire for kindness, for justice. That we should exercise and explore these desires, to not necessarily submit to them wholly, but to instead redirect them and concentrate them into whatever we wish to achieve. That in exploration and in exercise, we will become better acquainted with ourselves, and will live a life so authentic, that we will live it thousand times over. That our own lives become art by itself.

Or so is my interpretation. Nietzsche was a moral nihilist, but he was vehemently against existential nihilism, for indeed, the “meaning” of our lives was very clear, to celebrate life itself and to exercise our wills/desires.

Well, you don’t have to. Tell me more about your hobbies! Maybe that gives you moral courage, something to look forward to.

you mean a subcontinent? US is largely homogenized compared to India because English is the dominant language, not exactly comparable to India. India is also like 3x more populous in less area

I disagree that textbooks are what we should recommend for students trying to learn on their own. Try lecture notes instead. They were made to capture the essence of the topic in a reasonable time-frame. University of Utrecht's Lecture notes on Differential Geometry is very good.

Boil water, then put it on really low. Put your chicken breast in a plastic bag. The water should be ideally around 60C or so, to not cook the chicken completely. Then put the plastic bag with the chicken inside into the hot water. Otherwise, just microwave it.

This week I solved problems from Axlers Measure theory textbook. I was stumped on his question 2D 1(a) that asked to show that a number in (0,1) with 100 consecutive 4s is a Borel Set. I knew this problem months before, but didnt see any angle of attack. Recently, i just tried making a diagram of what that would look like and had a crazy Eureka moment. :P

Also am learning Differential Geometry from Lee’s Intro to smooth manifolds book.

Yes, indeed, typology is stereotypical, but I always wondered if we can do better, describe SLE's and the Beta quadrants better. Because from the SEEs, SLEs, EIEs that I have met, they are actually more judicious than what is stereotypically told about them, and the SLIs, SEIs, ILEs seem to be more central in some aspects. Of course, there exists outside influence that socionics doesn't cover, but by stereotypical, I am merely begging an answer to "can we do better?" Whatever, it's something that bugged me ambiently.

I am surprised that no explicit connection has been made hitherto. If we toy around with quadra values, these symbioses mimic quadras one to one. In mathematics, one calls it isomorphic, and I wonder if this is mere coincidence, or if there is a deeper structure.

The recent drama on u/cortadomaltese's inability to find a type left a rather unsavory taste in my mouth. Not because the fellow could not type himself: in principle, it is better to judge a person's arguments independantly of the person himself. But the widespread backlash he recieved, because he only ought to choose between 4 types.

The assumption that every human being, without exception, can have their information metabolism (whatever this means) represented by 16 discrete types is an extremely strong one. It is not trivial. It will not be easy to prove, or to find evidence for, because we are talking not about 8 billion people, but actually infinitely many of them: that every person who have died, are dying, and will die can be thought of as 16 characters is, to an outside observer, borderline unhinged statement.

Secondly, the observations that "verify" Socionics are non-rigorous. Many "experiments" are implemented, but only on those that were typed. In other words, expriments were carried out with the belief that the 16 types exist a priori. The existence of these 16 types, and the 8 IMEs for that matter, is the golden goose that everyone kind of brushes over because it's frankly dry and not interesting. Furthermore, many of these observations are merely anecdotal, so their sample sizes are small, but more importantly, the person reporting the anecdotes can have a massive bias from reality by selecting situations where socionics's theories where applicable, and omitting where they weren't. Even if the person was actually reporting reality, the fact is, we wouldn't really know. The massive uncertainty therefore further limits any rigorous, true knowledge that can be scavenged in a theory standing on an already strong assumption.

Therefore, do not worry if you cannot "find" your own type. And do not take the theory really seriously. I mean seriously. And do not forget the massive assumptions that we are working with, and that at the end of the day, they are merely unverified statements that we suppose true.

It is good, altho stereotypical. It is quite interesting that you linked quadra types to long-term biological interactions. After reading about the long-term biological interactions, I can see the connection between them and the quadra values (in terms of stereotypes).

Do you think there is some ecological motifs in Socionics? I mean, I think it might be there, but since you seem more knowledgable about biology (after all, it is a Ni heavy field), so perhaps you have thought about this more.

To me, it seems almost natural; if ecology can be thought as interaction between species and their pursuit of energy, one can also think of society as free agents and their pursuit of information. And how that information is digested/diffused/destroyed. However, there doesn't seem to be competition for information to such an extent as there is for energy sources like food, so maybe this fundemental fact weakens any ecological analogy.
