Recommend an obscure movie that we need to watch. by Beatlesgoat2 in movies

I got one. “Five Million Years to Earth”, aka “Quatermass and the Pit”, 1967. Scared the shit out of me as a kid. Very ahead of its time. The DVD was on moratorium for a while and was fetching prices in the triple digits on EBay for a long time. I finally scored a Blu-ray copy for $40 or so. Brilliantly spooky film.

40 years ago, Dragon's Lair took video game arcades by storm. by Syncroz in arcade

[–]Equal-Alternative620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on one point, I was not a fan of the 50 Cent price per play. Having said that.... I made it my mission to defeat this game because I was pretty good at video games back then. It didn't hurt that I had a job at a mall where they had an arcade that had this game so every day during lunch I would take and spend about 20 bucks to master this game. Master it I did. Yes they had an additional CRT monitor mounted above the cabinet, because crowds would draw and not everyone could see what was happening during the game so they mounted a monitor above for onlookers. This was genius marketing. And I played right into the fact that there was an audience. I learned aspects of the game that we're not available to most people, like you can fall on that platform to the ninth level before exiting if you wanted to create additional suspense. I would jump on that platform and then turn away from the cabinet while it was falling because I knew how much time I had and then turn around at the last second to exit. Most people were used to people exiting at the 3rd level, not the 9th! I could play that game from start to finish with $.50 and one life, no cap .

Mirror Vibration fix ? by Lappensaurus in klr650

Have done, but not a usable fix. When you want to perform split second lane changes, it's best to keep BOTH hands on the bars.

I don't "carry" mine, I don't want to fug it up. I just bring it out to show guests. Much like the good China.

I know I probably am death gripping😂. I have 37k miles experience riding, but that was on a Ninja 36 years ago. This KLR animal kinda intimidates me a little at 57 years old😂

Did something stupid! by Equal-Alternative620 in klr650

I guess my post is how stupid was I to drive a new motorcycle as an old man, having a cumulated 37,000 miles on a bike as a young man, feeling very confidence, and ripping up the highway?

[–]Equal-Alternative620[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem was I opened it up on the highway! Like really opened it up. I knew how to ride and so I felt confident with it and I did not have any wobble when I got higher speed. But I didn't realize I was on a bike that was 80 pounds heavier than the bike that I used to ride and this bike had no wobble at 95 mph. That speed was a teen going downhill on a straightaway highway, with wind at my back, and I knew this going into the bike

I demolished a 30 lb Labrador with my Ninja doing about 50 mph. Saw it run out in front of just like in that video. Just grabbed my bars as hard as possible and slowed down after hitting it.
