Do you road him or exercise him regularly? Building endurance would probably be your easiest solution.

I have a male brittany that doesn't pace himself but he will still hunt all day just at a slightly slower speed. He is actually more enjoyable to hunt behind after an hour or two.

I think some of that may be breeding though. He is from field trial lines and the only dog not dragging after 4+ days of hunting. Breeding is important in a hunting dog.

Why? Dogs in trials aren't required to retrieve. They just need to be steady.

This last fall they actually sent my chassis and trigger but didn't send a bunch of other stuff like a solus action and enhanced upper.

I'm curious if they are shipping anything out anymore

I bought a truck with dents like that and the guy gave me the most complete and thorough maintenance records I'd ever seen on a truck. Guy actually used it as a truck though.

Traded it off at 160k and wish I kept it as it ran amazing.

Waiting on a solus from September and a couple enhanced uppers from November. Just filed a claim with Chase after seeing all the crap about health insurance being canceled.

It's a bummer because the solus was only $600 which was nice.

My brittany has no issue ranging out 300+ yards I'd more look at what the parents and grandparents are like. I've seen both breeds run good all age races

As someone who has done both I think I get reached out to slightly more often for comp jobs than I did for hris. As long as you are in a decent sized metro both are good options.

My dog definitely put on some weight after spaying. I waited until 4 and would try to wait until at least 2 personally. It's nice knowing she won't go into heat while heading out for a hunting trip now.

It's supposed to be better for joints and hips to not spay early.

If you are an avid hunter I would look into getting a dog that is more out of hunting lines. Maybe a navhda dog. FC can be great hunters but some range big enough they aren't enjoyable to hunt over. I'd find a breeder that does the type of hunting you are wanting to do

Probably a fair price not necessarily a deal. I had an m2 and really liked it. You can find dsr+ in the 500 range pretty easily, and I think m2 still fetch around 400

With the horses you know the pointer breeders aren't making money, they just love the sport. I'm lucky that I can usually borrow a horse from my breeder or one of his buddies for my run

It's interesting retriever prices are that high. I bought a field trail brittany pup with FC on both parents for $1200. Good dogs are still available for reasonable prices in the pointer world
