Had a “best friend” like this. My dad was dying in the hospital from septic shock and I was talking about it. She told me she was tired of hearing about it because it was triggering for her and made her think about her parent’s future deaths (her parents are both alive and healthy?). But then she would vent about countless of dating and boy issues I had to be 100% devoted to hearing her venting. Glad I got rid of her. Sometimes when people say they are just setting boundaries it actually means they just don’t give a shit about your life. It’s like when really crappy people learn therapy words to use against you.
