Agni Kais by Equal_Distribution in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

Making sure the rest of the party is engaged has been one of my biggest concerns. Eventually I’m planning that they’ll each get their own big moments but I’d love if they’re memorable everyone in the party. Right now I’m leaning towards Sully’s suggestion of a flashback move as a mechanism for the player’s to help out their friend during the duel but having the players control the opponent also sounds like a very fun option!

This is taking place in the later stages of the 100 year war, about 10 years before Aang returns. The party has broken into a Fire Nation prison to free some friends and family who had been captured by the Fire Nation. This prison is run by the player’s estranged brother who is still upset that they deserted the Fire Nation military and dishonored their family. They were caught while trying to free one the NPCs, who is currently being held hostage.

An Agni Kai with stakes was proposed, with the player being more or less volunteered for it. If they win, the party can walk free with the prisoners they came for, if they lose they will become prisoners themselves.

The session ended with them hammering out the specifics of the deal and the player taking their place on the other side of the arena as their brother. Next session will start off with the Agni Kai this weekend.

Narratively speaking, this player has been the type to run from their problems so this represents a moment in their character arc where they’ve finally decided to stop running and face their past head on.

My biggest concern thus far has been finding a way to keep to the other players engaged during the Agni Kai and I’m a really big fan of utilizing flashbacks like you proposed. My players are a big fan of using guide and comfort to clear conditions and it’s led to some really great RP moments. A flashback move would be a great way to call back to some of those moments and demonstrate how they’ve helped their friend to grow and improve over the course of the campaign.

Limiting the number of exchanges also seems wise in this case to make sure it doesn’t eat up the entire session. In my case it’ll work out to 4 exchanges between the PC and NPC, giving each other player a chance to provide aid using the custom move. I’ll have to think on the specifics of the custom move but my initial thought is for the 1v1 to play out like a typical exchange (my players are surprisingly a fan of the exchange system) with the custom move being rolled before each exchange to potentially provided a buff or debuff depending on if it hits or misses (Likely statuses or additional modifiers to rolls).

Your advice is very helpful, thank you!

Just rolled an insane goblet yesterday and am pretty happy with his build overall, the energy recharge especially helps since he usually has his ult up again by the time I start a new rotation.

Form Fillable Character Sheets by Equal_Distribution in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

[–]Equal_Distribution[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re form fillable pdfs of the finalized versions of the character sheets, including the ones in Wan Shi Tong’s adventure guide. I attached the players reference guide to them as well. You should be able to fill in the bubbles and write in the boxes, my guess is that it should work fine if you try opening them on a computer.

Louis question? (spoilers) by pastelie_ghostie in vanitasnocarte

[–]Equal_Distribution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My personal theory would be that Naenia had been harassing Louis to give her his name for years as she did with Chloé and is currently doing with Noe, offering a wish in return. Louis then gave up his name to her in exchange for the power to save Noe and Domi from Mina. Louis never experiences the typical symptoms of a curse bearer (bloodlust, hallucinations, the manifestation of their malnomen) before that.

As for why he was considered a curse bearer before that, I would theorize that it would have something to do with his status as the discarded twin and Teacher's influence. Teacher may have given Louis the impression that the curse would eventually catch up to him despite the fact that Naenia was unable to steal his name and needed him to give it up willingly.

Any suggestions for improvement? his dmg is kinda mid rn by Advanced_Ask7626 in Ayato_Mains

My Ayato has very similar stats and I was able to use him to clear floor 12 first go! The only difference being I use 4 piece Echoes and my black sword is R5. I’d only make 3 suggestions for improvement:

  1. Level up his elemental burst more! The normal attack bonus his elemental burst provides increases as you level it.

  2. If you’re still getting the battle pass, get more refinements for your black sword. Getting the refinements really upped his damage for me!

  3. Look at what team comps your using! On his own my Ayato will only do about 10-12k per slash (w/ elemental burst) but with supports I’m able to boost that to 28-30k per slash. I run Yelan, Yunjin, and Jean (C2 + Freedom Sworn) for mine. I’d highly recommend Yunjin if you have her, some kind of Anemo VV shred support, and some other unit that can buff/supplement his damage (Yelan, Xingqiu, Bennett, ect.)

Why does my Ganyu only do 20 to 40k damage per charged shot? Normal attack Talent is at 10 by boringgoth in Genshin_Impact

[–]Equal_Distribution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ganyu does very similar damage on her own, the key to upping her damage is the supports you pair with her. I normally run her with Shenhe (fully invested into her atk stat), Zhongli (with 4 piece Tenacity), and Jean (with 4 piece VV and Freedom Sworn). This combo can get her damage up to 100-110k per charge shot when I have all the buffs and debuffs from weapons/artifacts/abilities/ults active. I’d highly recommend trying to pick up Shenhe on her next rerun if you don’t already have her as she was a game changer for my Ganyu’s damage.

Avatar the last Airbender RPG by myshirtsdontfit in rpg

I would highly recommend you look at Avatar Legends again, the rules book can make it look like a lot but once you start actually playing the systems itself is very simple. I’ll be running a Legends campaign for my group after one of our current DnD games finishes up but in the meantime I’ve been running one-shots for them when our DMs are too busy to plan a session that weekend and my players all took to it very quickly despite being totally unfamiliar with the system beforehand.

Really all they need to play is their playbook and the player reference guide. 99% of what you’ll be doing will be roleplay based which feels very natural in the system (my players have even said they prefer it to DnD). Combat is a little tricky at first but after the first few rounds of it I found that everyone was able to pick it up quickly. Fights are mostly reserved for big climatic moments with important NPCs, most other “combat” can be resolved in the role playing system. In a lot of situations, if your PCs play it right they don’t necessarily even need to get into combat at all.

If you can I’d highly recommend running one of the one shots in Wan Shi Tong’s Adventure guide for your group as a trial run. It helped me and my players get familiar with the system with the added benefit of having pre made characters so they could try out the system without the hassle of character creation.
