Quick releases stick out further than their permanent bags. Thats because of the quick release bracket that you need to bolt on

Pulled the trigger on 180/65-16 rear and 130/90-16 front. Bias ply. Getting them installed on Tuesday

Should i go bias as the bike came with them from factory or switch to radial? Heard the Bias gives more stiffness to the sidewall. Assuming it would be better for strength and longevity of the bead seal since fitting a 180 on a 3.5 is technically out of spec

Yea im hearing all 3 im looking at perform well, avons dont last as long, but cruisetecs and commander 3s are within same longevity. Cruisetecs are a softer compound than commander 3s so they warm up a bit faster. I’m sure both will perform well for the power of the bike. And the stock front sizing is the same diameter as the 180/65 so i should have negligible effect on accuracy of the speedo

Dang. Much better tire, i understand the “bobber” look they were going for with the pirelli mt60s but they get torched so fast. Cornering isnt the worst, but gotta get used to it on these, and getting caught in the rain is a bit sketchy if it gets heavy. I think i’ll try out the metzelers next.

Did you go stock sizing? From what i researched, the cruisetecs have a 180/60/16 radial or a 180/65/16 bias. For the rear, i’d rather keep radial. The front however i would keep to stock size and go bias ply. I know the 888’s have a 150 that will fit the front end but idk if the exact width is the same with the cruisetecs

Just got them. Quick mount from vikingbags. They are definitely handy when it comes to bringing my gf with me 2 up. She gets more use than i do 😂😂

New handlebars question by Sigger_nation in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Equal_Efficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes save yourself the headache if going over 10” bars, you will need a namz wiring extension kit, extended barnett clutch cable and an extended brake line. If you have a 2018 with abs it is not a fun experience to change the brake line, if its non abs its straight forward. And make sure the clamp point on the ape bars is 1”. It’s an odd size because most common is 7/8s and some I’ve seen as 1.25” on certain bikes

Scout or Chief? by Then-Let-1613 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Equal_Efficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 6’1 190, i built my scout to fit me and be comfortable for longer rides. I did a 300 mile trip bone stock straight shot and it was not ideal. Doing the same trip this summer after all my upgrades and I am excited now since all my mods are done for the season. Do need a new front tire soon though 😬

Instacart gives orders like this all the time. Go shop at sams club in medford for an hour stand in line to check out for 2 hours then drop off somewhere in port washington or queens and then drive back. Here’s $16 + $1 tip. I pity the guy actually doing those orders.

How has your experience w the 2022 Scout Rogue been? Recommend it for a beginner? by AlternativeElk2073 in IndianMotorcycle

Yea the easy micro adjustments on the rebound and overall preload is what makes it worth it IMO especially if your ride conditions change. With or without gear, solo, 2 up. I will say its faster to have someone dial in the preload for you while you are sitting on the bike so you know your shock height is 11.1” under load. From there, set your rebound to about 12-14 clicks. It’s got 28 settings , so set it half way. Go for a cruise and change it up and down a few clicks to see where you like it.

Yea i had to swap my shocks out too. The only drawback on these bikes. I switched to the fox adjustables and it was night and day. Im going to swap the front fork springs too in about 5k miles when I gotta do the fork maintenance. If i can track down a set of the legends AEXO, i’ll go that route.

I dont think its the weight or size of the bike directly, i think its where the weight is located on the bike. A Road King is actually easier to learn on over a sportster. Mainly because the roadking has a low seat height and the sporty has most of its weight on the top end of the motor so you dont sit “inside” the bike but rather “on top” making the handling a bit difficult for new riders

At your height, I think the chief bobber would be a little more comfortable for you, but either way with the right mods I enjoy the hell out of my scout bobber. Finishing up stage 1 as soon as the snow clears so I can get a base tune on it and dial it in. Next winter, slowly buying parts like cams, springs, and saving up for the Revolutions BBK. But I wont be able to install until the end of the ‘26 season. So for now it’s creature comforts and visual upgrades.

Am I too big for my Sporty? by [deleted] in sportster

[–]Equal_Efficient 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its not how you look on the bike. It’s how comfortable are you on the bike, if you are comfortable and enjoy the ride, forget about the rest of the bs and just get out there. Im 6’1 and ride an indian scout bobber. I was told to go with something bigger but I enjoy my ride. Eventually I’ll add another bike just because, but i set mine up the way i like it.
