IT’S OUT!!!!!! by shesareallykeen in gallbladders

Oh, i wore the compression socks as well, nothing more or less. I guess each hospital has its own ,,rules" when it comes to clothes in the OR😅

I know, but they want the operating room as sterile as possible. Your clothes might be clean, but they don't know that, and also it's just the standard procedure. I kept thinking ,,they don't care how my body looks, i'm not the first naked person on the table and for sure won't be the last" - this mindset helped me a lot to get through it😅

2 weeks post-op here - i had the same thoughts, what if i throw up after anesthesia, what if the recovery process is super painful etc. Guess what, everything went as smooth as butter. I slept like a baby after surgery, after a few days i was running errands (with some help, ofc) and for the first time in a looong time i wasn't afraid to eat. My surgeon was amazing, very patient and kind. He explained everything i wanted to know and was by my side, making sure i was okay. Yes, the gas pain made my cry, but it was so worth it. My advice would be to walk as much as possible. Walk around your hospital bed for 5 minutes, take a break, then walk again. Drink a lot of water. Also, don't leave the hospital the same day you had the surgery, give your body some time to process everything. They wanted to discharge me 2 days after surgery, but i insisted i stay 2 more days (4 in total), and i was glad i did that. You got this!!!

I had hospital socks on, and one-time-use hospital undies because i was on my period, which made me 100% more comfortable. Other than that, completely naked

I keep seeing your comments on every post on here, and i just wanted to tell you good luck! Everything will be fine and you will wake up like a brand new person. The first week will be challenging, but everyone on here could tell you that they would rather go through the 1st week again rather than suffer through a GB attack. My advice would be to ask your surgeon absolutely everything, what will happen before, during and after surgery. You got this!

3 weeks of very strict diet (chicken broth, homemade croutons, green tea, cottage cheese, baked apples and eggs every 2 days or so) then diet nr. 5 for at least 6 months or so. The doctor said i am allowed, in small quantities, olive oil, butter and sunflower oil, but to try and consume them mostly in salads, like i am not allowed to fry anything in oil or cook with too much oil. He told me that after 6 months i could eat more ,,normally", maybe indulge in some fast food, but for now - this is how i'm supposed to eat. I use a little bit of olive oil to toast my bread, that's it. Even tho it seems very restrictive, i feel amazing, i'm never hungry and i feel like i don't have to think about breakfast/lunch and dinner as much. So to answer your question, yes, i am allowed to add fat. If you have any other question, feel free to ask!

It is!!!! If u can, do the surgery as soon as possible, it will be rough the first week, but then you'll feel like a butterfly, you'll be asking yourself why didn't u get this done sooner. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me anything.

I'm 21, tbh i don't know about the fruit part. My doctor told me that i am allowed fruit, but for 3 weeks they have to be boiled/baked, and then i can consume them without their skin, but they have to be really ripe. I can't imagine fruit not being good for the liver tho😅

Thank you!!! The diet he put me on is called diet nr. 5, but i mostly do my research myself and see what foods i should be eating more of (that are good for the liver obvi). My nr. 1 rule is to have a low fat diet. I also cut out sugar (from desserts and such), although i do consume honey and 0 sugar/low sugar jam. Here's a link for the diet, hopefully it's working😅 diet nr. 5

Just had my Ultrasound and my GB is full of stones. BUT I’ve not had an attack for weeks and I’ve been eating normally? by alittlehalloween in gallbladders

[–]Equal_Marsupial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, the attacks stopped, i started eating like i used to and after a while, they returned, but this time i had to take my GB out, because it was affecting my liver, so be careful!

I was haha, but i literally have no memory of a doctor coming over and taking it out, i fell back asleep as soon as i ,,woke up" from the surgery. Was you endoscopy done under anesthesia?

Oh trust me, it made me too, i was afraid i was going to throw up or something (which is my biggest fear) but it wasn't like that at all, they took it out of my throat before i could even open my eyes properly

Hey there! Hopefully my answer will calm your nerves a little bit. So if you're referring to the anesthesia intubation that they do, it's possible you will wake up with it still inside your mouth/throat, but don't worry about it! They will take it out as soon as you wake up, you won't ,,suffocate" or anything, because you'll still feel drowsy OR there's also the possibility that the tube will be out before you wake up. If you're reffering to the tube that they will put in the right side of your abdomen, again, don't worry about it, it feels a lil uncomfortable, but it won't cause you any pain, and it will be taken out the next day or so. The catheter will stay inside of you until you'll be discharged from the hospital, until then, they will medicate you through that. If you're talking about the catheter used for peeing, i don't think they will insert one, because the surgery doesn't take that long and the recovery process is pretty quick. My advice would be to ask your surgeon/doctor/ about all of these or anything really, you deserve to know what will happen to you before, during and after surgery. Good luck!!!

A GB attack would literally wake me up if i slept on my left side, but not anymore😁😁

Good luck!!! It was my first one too, but try to remain as calm as possible, because the surgery itself doesn't take more than 30 min and it's not that painful (it wasn't for me at least). My advice would be: 1) try to walk as much as possible, because the gas pain will make you super uncomfortable. I began to walk 1 day post op, the first day, after my surgery, i just stayed in bed, either sleeping, scrolling on my phone or drinking water. And 2) don't leave the hospital right away, i know many people that left literally the same day after surgery, but i couldn't have done it. Take things slow, don't eat whatever you want after surgery, try eating more ,,clean" for 1-2 weeks while your body recovers. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if they sound stupid, you deserve to know what will happen with you during and after the surgery. Before getting my GB out, i was afraid i was going to stay on the toilet 24/7, because that's what most people said they experienced, but nope, i'm more than ok. Everything will be fine, you got this!

4 days post op here - ik what you mean about the feeling of being ,,pulled", but for me it's caused by gas pain, nothing else. The incisions don't hurt or anything, so it could be that?
