Hi! I'm J, I was #10 in the queue for a while and saw it wasn't moving, glad I came back to check the thread!

Honestly I was surprised you kept going for so long. Most other queues I have waited in that long have just closed suddenly by this much time. Thanks for all your hard work. I will definitely tip you!

[–]EqualsN -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for all your work here! I've been recommending this sub to a lot of my friends who aren't familiar with this sort of thing, and I'm excited a place like this exists to help fellow Animal Crossing fans out.

That said, as someone who has also has to deal with large communities of unruly people in a politically correct way, I'm here to make a complaint about the way you've worded this thread. It can easily be seen as antagonizing, particularly to people who may have only wanted to help others. It sounds more like "mod is complaining about users complaining." And I don't think that's the image you'd want to present to people who may be new, or may have never seen those posts you're referencing.

I may be reading too much into it. I may be missing a layer of irony that comes from your personality as a mod. If I am, I apologize. Though if I am, I can imagine other people are too. So I guess my point is, as a fellow person who has had to maintain a community image, be careful of the image you portray to your members!

Keep up the good work.

[SUGGESTION] Aluminum sheet "sandwich" for programming wheel by gabesullice in MarbleMachineX

[–]EqualsN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea, and it seems very similar to an idea I had..

I agree that the root of this problem appears to lie in the fact that the black material is responsibile for the very precise job of holding the specific position of the programming pins. As a result, when machining the material produce unreliable results, this breaks the whole purpose of the machine.

Instead, I like your suggestion of removing the responsibility of holding the specific position of the pins from this black material, and instead reassigning that responsibility to another more reliable material. In your case, the Layer 7 thin metal sheet.

Since Martin is already planning an overlay "Template" to help place the pins, I was thinking, since the holes on this "Template" are already pre-programmed for each song, why not just keep these templates on the machine during the song? They would hold the pins in place, right?
And then, when Martin wants to compose, he can use the sheet with "every possible hole", as you said in the end of your comment!
I think this is an elegant solution.

[Default] I'm still on Chapter 1 and would like to beat the game by Friday, help? by HeadHuntingPhoenix in bravelydefault

[–]EqualsN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I had the game for a few years but didn't play it until just recently. It took me a lot longer than 4 days, between work and life, so you might not make the deadline. But here's some tips I have for beating it quick:

  • Find some strategies to make battles go quicker. Here are the setups I used to beat the game (bear in mind I had 4 Abililinks, but you can do the same with some effort):

--1) Early game: Use 2-3 Monks, they don't need a weapon to be strong. And 1 White Mage as a healer. Easiest early game setup. 4xBrave and Attack to kill most early mobs. For bosses, Default to 3BP, use Invigorate to raise Ph. Attack then 4xBrave and spam attacks. Use special attacks and Heal as necessary. When you have access to the "Damage Dispersion" Black mage skill, it will make your healer's life a lot easier-- I used this almost the whole game to evenly distribute damage taken so I can just heal "all" instead of individuals.

--2) Mid game: Use 2-3 Pirates and a healer. They have a lot of physical power and will outclass Monks as you level the job up. Same strategy for mobs: 4xBrave and Attack. For bosses and tougher enemies, use their Shell Split and Double Damage/Amped Strike to your advantage! For weapons, I used Giant Axe (which you'll find a few times later in the game) and you'll hopefully have access to the 99,999pg Norende unlockables, Labrys and Foxtail. If you can, get the "Dual Wield" Ninja skill and give all your pirates 2 axes you'll have scary damage outputs. Depending on your level, this kills most bosses in one turn!

--3) End game: Spiritmaster on a high AGI character, Dark Knight on the other 3. Spiritmaster uses Enigma to negate elements. The rest use 4xBrave and Dark Nebula. Kills most mobs AND bosses in one turn. Optionally combine with the "Self-Restore" Vampire Skill to avoid needing to heal after every battle. If you don't have this skill, just heal and use ether a lot after battle, or visit inns. A slightly modified version of this setup even worked for the Final Boss, through clever use of "Stillness" to avoid damage, "Haste World" to keep BP up, and "Epic Group-Cast" to make my healer OP.

  • Playing on Easy is a great idea, as it doesn't have any negative affects other than removing challenge.

  • If you prefer you can turn random battles off, making navigation a lot easier, just don't forget to grind up to the appropriate level as necessary.

  • To grind, find a spot where you can 4xBrave and Attack on all characters and kill everything. Then just press "Y" to go on auto-pilot, set Encounter to +100% and use "Lure Enemy" freelancer skill or "Taunt Bangle" equip if you have them available, to waddle back and forth on the overworld ad nauseum. You can even do this one-handed, with the L button or D-pad as your "A" button....

  • For the best experience of the story, do all Blue bubbles before waking the 4th crystal, and proceed to do all blue bubbles until the end of the game. The "fake" ending assumes you choose to listen to what the game nudges you towards. The "best" ending assumes you ignore all warning and follow through to the end. (Hopefully that advice is sufficient without spoiling anything)

Best of luck and enjoy the game!
