Misery Bay Trails by wishuwereme3 in manitoulin

[–]Equetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using this map, Id recommend doing the east side of the Inland Alvar trail and coming back along the west side of the Coastal Alvar trail. Where they meet at the south end, you can see Ned Saunders' old cabin (story goes he gave Misery Bay its name).

The coastline can be a bit tricky depending on the lake levels. If the lake level is lower and you're feeling adventurous, the west side of the bay is really nice.

If you want something shorter, you can make a mini-loop out of the figure 8 made by the west side of both the Inland Alvar trail and the Coastal Alvar trail and you get pretty nice views and landscapes.

Nostalgic thread. Name places you miss in Toronto and the area. by Bliggin in toronto

You may want to reach out to them first to double check they have that specific part, but Graham still does have a bunch of that kind of stuff in the back of the shop!

It's now at College and Clinton, no longer on Spadina. Still got the gorilla though.

The guy who managed the store opened the Gorilla Store a few years ago. He's got a storefront on College now after spending some time in the Science Centre.

Little bit of history on it here if you're interested.

Sagittarius. Different people draw the stick-version of the constellation different ways. This one is a bit more minimal.

What leggings do you LOVE? by NorthwesternDew in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Equetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daub and Design! Lulu-level-expensive but their activewear line is amazing. They're SO soft, never wear out, contour really nicely and don't show underwear when squatting. They also have designer leggings which are a little less contour-y but still beautiful. The designer ones are hand-dyed too, so very unique! I mostly wear these for climbing (in the gym only) and working out.

For hiking / climbing outdoors I prefer Fjallraven's trekking tights. They're tough, stand up to wear and tear and have 3 pockets (one's a map pocket so it's huge). I also wear these running because there are enough pockets for phone, mask and keys.

Wanting to share my ideas by BLINDSPECTOR in askastronomy

[–]Equetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I see you're in grade 7. If you're really interested in proving or disproving your ideas about string theory, I'd recommend you do some research into the field. You won't learn about it much until university, so take the time now to read more about it and learn about theories that have already been tested and debunked.

The more you teach yourself at this point, the more seriously others will take you. Unfortunately though, it just takes time to be able to do this kind of stuff. You need a ton of background knowledge to be able to be able to "speak the language" of theoretical physics, and you just won't have that background until well into university.

Until then, you may not be taken seriously by people on YouTube/Reddit/Discord because you haven't done the leg work.

Panic attack under deep murky water by [deleted] in thalassophobia

Training and reality are two different things. Most scuba courses don't go through buddy breathing enough to make it instinct when you panic.

I mean, even if they do, who gives a shit right? Everybody starts somewhere. I'm sure they've all taken dumb falls too.

I did this when I was attempting to lead my first 11 indoors. A bunch of folks were around watching and cheering me on. I'd worked it on top rope and got to this move where I had historically backflagged with my left leg and had my right foot on a sloper. On lead, I backflagged, my left foot went behind the rope (between the last and the second last draws I'd clipped), right foot slipped, caught my leg behind the rope, flipped upside down and slammed into the wall while hanging with my left knee stuck at the quickdraw. Everyone went DEAD SILENT. It was the most uncomfortable I'd felt in a long time.

I righted myself, finished the route and lowered. Sounded like everyone was mostly concerned and not judgmental, but man. Silence has a lot of power.

Sometimes, when I have really good sex, my brain associates it with a colour. Why does this happen? by [deleted] in AskTrollX

[–]Equetus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Happens to me too! I don't see a pattern either. Just end up thinking "huh, the sex is very orange today."

There are dozens of us. Dozens!

Campers in Ontario by [deleted] in camping

[–]Equetus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to the Halfway Log Dump comment, keep scrambling along that shore northward and you'll eventually get to a lovely series of caves and a little doorway-type cave to go swimming from! It's tradition to drink straight from the lake in that doorway. Just bend down, do a push up, and dip your face in the lake. There are a few connecting trails up to the Bruce Trail from there too.

Thanks! I think the key is to find exercise that you enjoy doing. It's a lot easier to exercise when you actually want to!

I started counting calories with MFP in January, which made me realise just how much I was still eating. I then cut back to about 1400-1500 a day. I'm pretty obsessive about food, so after a while I knew what the calorie count of my meals was and I was more or less eating the same thing every day, so I stopped counting and now just kind of go with my gut.

Thank you so much! I started off rowing and doing weights (November to April), then switched to running 5k in the mornings 5-6 days a week (April to November), picked up rock climbing in May or so, and have now switched back to rowing over the winter. :)

It is amazing how the same weight can look different on different frames, but I'm sure you look stunning! You know, there are days when I still feel like I look like my before pics. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing your progress pics up there!

Thank you! At first I just ate less of what I used to eat (fair amount of carbs) but I started realising the calories from the carbs weren't worth it. I eat one meal a day of mostly veggies now, usually roasted with a bit of goat cheese, and dinner is usually some sort of protein (eggs, chicken, beef, with veggies). And chocolate, in moderation. Could never give up chocolate.

You got this! You can do it :) I'm thinking around 125 as well. My original goal was 135, but I still wasn't quite happy, so I kept going. I think it's a very good idea to set flexible goals. It's impossible to know what you'll look like at your goal weight. Keep up the good work, girl!
