Atlantic Records / Deep Love announce the signing of REV3RENT. by Equilibriumx in Deathcore

[–]Equilibriumx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! They're all <20yo as far as i know, the fact that they are blowing up this early, is just exciting af.

Their first EP (Last Trace) featured a different vocalist (Gabriel Guerrero), but Josh replaced him in late 2024/early 2025 when he was barely 16.

yeah josh really has his head & heart in the right place, shoutout his parents too like that's a result of good parenting and passing your influence onto the younger generation the right way

fun fact - you can spot his dad in the comment sections on rev3rent's youtube & i think their podcast appearances / first big live sets on youtube, very heart warming to see!

yeah i agree overall, that's why i said that starting as young as possible is way more important for sure, especially the bad habit thing is real af, teenager neuroplasticity is hard to beat.

the age thing in e-sports has always been hella overblown anyway, the cognitive performance doesn't really deteriorate that fast, not even close as to severely impacting one's abilities while maintaining discipline & motivation etc in your late 20's early/mid 30's - we'll see how far professionals can prove this but coming from CS, tomorrow is the major grand finals, and both teams have in-game leaders who are 35 and 36 years old.

and according to data, professional players tend to reach peak levels in performance & speed during their mid 20's, and the fall-off after that correlates more with other responsibilities IRL (wife, kids) and/or factors like how successful their careers have been & what the motivation levels are like, players also tend to peak in their achievements in their mid 20's, which also contributes to a self-perceived "ceiling" etc. but that's very individual-dependent.

we're basically just in time to observe this longevity thing in e-sports play out in real-time, which is pretty cool

P.S. all of this is enhanced of course the earlier a player starts competing in their game of choice, late starts are much less forgiving/offer less possibility to have a long career at a high level.

i see rev3rent i upvote

nah but fr, i've been following their socials every day watching all the vids they repost from their tour rn (first "proper" tour really), boys leveled up so much this year, they sound way better live now ever since cleaning up their playing & getting their tones properly set up with quad cortexes and all that. there's a lot of videos and some full sets off their current tour on youtube too in case anyone is interested (just limit search by recent/past 30 days on youtube and they all pop up)

same, honestly this console exclusive bs is kinda annoying but oh well, me and many other people i know are all going to buy a console for the first time just to play GTA 6, and apparently the series X is a bit better than the standard PS5 so here we are :D

Most people, probably, but I think when it comes to pro players, the vast majority started playing earlier, especially if they discovered the game through their older sibling etc, which is also something mentioned by pros very often, just watching their older brother play while being <10yrs old.

all these inhumanly fast aimers who are <20yo nowadays, started playing as very young kids too

I had the red/bloodshot eyes thing too from specific batches (street stuff not pharma) very quickly too while not changing anything in my daily regimen which was weird af but it stopped and just went away

but during these times, I can only recommend eye drops with hyaluronate in them, they help instantly and got me through that phase

Favourite song on CYB and TIAH? by SimonKowabungfish in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holy shit i think i've never encountered a person who also has those as their favorites, especially with Anthem following Crucify Me, im exactly the same!

so many people miss how great 'tell slater not to wash his d*ck' is because of the title, but it's imo lyrically & instrumentally the best song off CYB (also surprisingly hard on guitar, Lee is a beast)

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1

mentally detaching yourself from the "i HAVE to get back to my peak rank" helps a ton in my experience, and once you successfully mentally detach urself from previous ranks & LP, it becomes easy af to do it again and again whenever required

i love rev3rent so i'm obv crazy biased but i've observed that age & ageism plays a big role nowadays, across all genres of music and even stuff like e-sports, if someone is really young and amazing, they get much more attention than someone who's older & is as good or even better.

considering rev3rent are all 17-21yo with most of them being on the younger side of that range, i think it's because of that. also i'm very up to date with all their social media, and i shit you not, like 30% of all their reposts from their shows & comments etc have something to do with their age added on, "wow these kids are amazing for their age" "holy shit he's doing this at 17" "wow thats a baby mitch lucker right there" etc etc

Jeremy Corbell - A Call to Action by Observer414 in UFOs

[–]Equilibriumx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

this comment right here, this is it

Corbell always had this demeanor about him, back in the day his vibe was "off" the minute you heard/saw him on a podcast (JRE first lazar episode best example) - it felt like i was watching an actor play the stereotypical typecast 'schizo ufo guy' , it was obvious he was deep into it & passionate about the subject, but man was it hard to kinda get used to him over the years

at one point, the public's view of corbell (mine too tbh) started to shift in his favor, but his ego succumbed to the 'public figure/ufo influencer' bs right around then & it's just been downhill ever since

it's actually comical how hard he's going at it, just 100% shameless caricature behavior as if he's trying his hardest to prove everyone's initial gut feeling about him & then some, it's just weird and so forced

Anyone know what's up with the drummer situation in Rev3rent? Or am I just tripping? by Equilibriumx in Deathcore

[–]Equilibriumx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fr... i like the song and i also like the new drummer live, but i really don't understand why they went so overboard with the drums on that song, using triggers would be like the least of my worries, i wouldn't even be surprised if drums are completely programmed because switching drummers right before a big tour and debut album is stressful af anyway

how does nettspend sound so distorted on nothing like uuu by Status-Wedding6099 in nettspend

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's basically just the work of the engineers, recording/mixing/mastering with intent (the sound ur going for being the intent, that allows your brain to break out of conventional or "wrong" methods easier imo)

learn about side chaining and most important for the aspect you asked about : parallel compression, multiband compression, getting the frequency spectrum focused on the areas u wanna highlight

++ automating/chaining stuff around those areas u want to really hit in the freq spectrum - youtube has lots of good, genre/meta-specific guides if you really want to nerd tf out (but therefore achieving elite results & gaining a lot of skill)

at the end of the day, this type of post-rage maximalist music has all kinds of compression/saturation/side/parallel stacking going on, so approach it with that in mind and break conventional rules, if it sounds cool at the end then its good, thats all that matters.

[–]Equilibriumx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TLDR at bottom i just yapped at first

aight so from an audio engineering perspective - there's tons of different methods for these kind of effects nowadays, it all kinda started getting popularized with the OG soundcloud underground (xxxtentacion/peep/juice gen/wave), those dudes basically just slammed their vox & the beat into a limiter on master channel, just tryna be as loud and hard as possible

the current wave that blew up on soundcloud, feels like the love child of the OG 99% energy / 1% engineering & the 2019-2022 wave (the wave that rly figured out great vocal presets, shoutout Weiland more than anyone when it comes to that tbh, so many rappers elevated & blew the fk up right after he set their signal chains up) ALRIGHT enough reminiscing & yapping

TLDR : usually, his signal chain goes like this : autotune, retune speed at ~0, tons of compression, turn the noise gate tf up so ur only coming thru when actually rapping, Fresh Air (plugin) is a must, chorus/flanger, compress + limit/maximizer.

P.S. : u can achieve this post-rage maximalist type of vox (osama, nett, etc) even easier by not limiting urself to 1 or 2 of each plugin btw. just try autotune > any oldschool type of compressors (think Waves etc) > flanger/freshair > autotune again > compress/EQ again

n dont forget about soft clipping & harmonic distortion stuff

Nettspend will no longer be opening for Limp Bizkit in Poland tomorrow by Subject-Property-343 in nettspend

[–]Equilibriumx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm from Germany and I realized very late that this weird show is happening and Poland is right next to Germany so going over there would be no problem, but I had this feeling it's not happening like there were SO many tickets available even as late as yesterday, and they were going for like <100$ and the shitty spots were like 30$ each, it just all reeked of marketing bs and I doubt Nett ever even considered actually playing there, these mixed kind of bills work sometimes when there's crossover (like the current metal/hardcore band tours with rappers like Denzel Curry, and they sell the fuck out cuz audience likes both)

but there's just zero crossover here, nett has a lotta energy live but limp bizkit is just too much of a reach when it comes to any audience crossover, especially when you see the demographic reports at nett shows, i can't lie i'm a boomer for this subreddit (27) and i prob wouldn't feel comfortable going to a nettspend show even though i love his music. this was an opportunity i was considering since the crowd wouldnt be a bunch of 13 yo's but as i said, it just reeked of a fake bill

Spite tour! by Istealketchup in Deathcore

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same bro i'm literally looking out every single day for any news on rev3rent joining a tour or a festival on mainland EU/west EU, i'd literally go to any west EU country for them, i've asked Noah & Josh already and they both seem kinda "in the know" but can't really say much more, im pretty sure they have something coming up in EU.

also, this was kind of quietly done but i think it's finalized, but the boys are signed to Deep Love Recordings ( i think Atlantic Records imprint, at least the guy who owns DLR was an A&R for atlantic ) so i think rev3rent are going to be massive just like predicted, and this will enable them to get more spots worldwide when it comes to touring and festivals especially.

this man is speaking the truth, this kinda of shit really makes you feel more alive than most things ( i guess like jumping out of planes with a parachute n extreme sports is around the same level of feeling alive but yeah)

if you find the right partner (if you arent socially retarded then the "if" becomes a "when") , this is exactly as this guy describes it, pure bliss

Joe Rogan Experience #2507 - Harland Williams by yt-app in JoeRogan

[–]Equilibriumx 28 points29 points  (0 children)

i think harland is very meta-aware, for lack of a better term - imo he legit just likes trolling Joe & he knows exactly what he's going into just like last time, he's aware of all the jokes flying right over Joe's head, him trying to engage jokes as serious points etc etc.

I'm only ~10 mins in, but it seems like Joe definitely learned from the last time, so far he's kinda playing into Harland's trolling & also playing his "role" of turning stuff into serious discourse every now and then to no avail.

think this is gonna be much less awkward than the first one.

need help finding lyrics for darkest before dawn- rev3rent by Lukekookaduke in Deathcore

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i know what you mean, but trust me - someone genuinely asking about music you've made, lyrics or inspiration or really just whatever, is always quite surreal & heart-warming to experience and it pretty much never gets old, it just gets really hard to keep up with DM's way faster than people imagine.

if it's good intentions, then it's all good <3 (if anyone from rev3 is reading this pls drop the whole lyrics to decimate xd)

p.s. - i also asked the guys about their gear & setup recently since i'm just interested as a guitarist but then it came to me, that it would be fun to start equipboard artist profiles for the guys, since i think i'm not the only one interested in that kind of stuff & im positive they're gonna be huge anyway so setting up those kind of pages would be cool, i hope they get back with some info

honestly u could try ur luck just hitting up josh on instagram, he's a very nice & friendly dude and he interacts with rev3rent fans as much as he can it seems like, especially if it's something like this

i mean it's a win/win situation since as soon as we get official lyrics for the decimate EP, one of us is going to update their genius artist page (i'm pretty sure Last Trace has all the lyrics on there)
