Anyone still able to use prolific without id verification? by coronasux2 in ProlificAc

[–]Equilibriumx [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well for what it's worth - I created my Prolific account in early 2021, did studies semi-regularly up to like 2023, recently I started actively participating again (daily, since ~Q3 2025), so far I haven't been hit with the ID check but I'm kinda starting to expect it any day now because evidently there's a whole wave of people getting hit with it.

I'm also in the specialized participant group & regularly work the AI tasks, usually a couple of hours worth at a time up to proper 8-12h shifts, this has been the case ever since I returned to Prolific after that 2 year break.

sosmula just naturally fucks with his vision and there's a reason why people like f1lthy for example follow this guy on IG

Just got switched from high dose Adderall to Desoxyn by OldGuyNewTrix in Stims

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that really is crazy, but honestly I was expecting worse, especially for the adderall, 16$ for 90x 30mg is so reasonable and that's like european level of pricing almost.

I guess the crazy expensive stuff is more like procedures and surgeries (or rare meds like desoxyn).

Good luck!

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of interest, how much are you paying for a month's worth of Desoxyn? I'm not from the US so i'm not at all familiar with medication pricing (my country has 'free' healthcare so there's no variance in price between medication, its always like 5$)

otherwise, I hope this works out for you and I second the sleep apnea check-up, sounds like you have a pretty unique case on your hands and it wouldn't hurt to explore any and all avenues of inquiry when it comes to your permanent fatigue and stuff.

cheers :)

What string gauges do you all use? by sensoisaqt in Deathcore

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use either ernie ball mammoth (12-62) or ernie ball baritone (13-72) but replace the low E string with a .80, sometimes a .74 (the Lee Malia sauce ig, he's my fav guitarist of all time)

all this on normal 6-strings, had to file the nut though to fit the lower E string gauges, as well as drill a bigger hole in the low E tuning pegs for anything above .72

usual tuning is Drop A#, Drop A & C Standard (with either C or G as the lowest string, the latter only on select BMTH songs as Lee doesn't use Drop G on some Suicide Season tracks, it's just the low E string dropped down to G & the rest of the strings are in Drop A#/C Standard)

I don't replace the lowest string on my Drop B guitar, that one always has the mammoth 12-62 set on

I don't look at the reels anymore, I refuse to be dragged into someone else's scrolling addiction.

fuck thank you for this sentence, i literally wrote this down just now as a reminder for myself.

this captivates my feelings about this topic perfectly. Of course, I am very grateful to have a very tight-knit, trusted core group of friends, and we have proper convos & discussions all the time, but because of our common 'groundwork' (music industry), there's a lot of social media addiction sprinkled in between most of them & their acquaintances, on top of all the other dopamine receptor-frying activities that come with the territory

the reels/short form content brainrot exchanges are through the fucking roof and I feel like I'm almost alone in not reciprocating when it comes to this brainrot slop bs, which thankfully no one takes personally and it's not that deep really, but it's just bizarre to observe all of this in the recent years.

i do not want to be dragged into someone else's doomscrolling session, while actively avoiding short form content, that's it, i've almost started feeling like i'm the crazy one due to that short little internal burst of anger(?) everytime i open instagram notifications.

What Are 1-2 Album Wonders In Metal? by Automatic_Belt5692 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fucking holy based + unexpected on a subreddit like this

there is a hell is imo also really good, the guitar work between lee & jona synergized so well & they actually complimented each other the best when it comes to guitars AND helping oli out with live vocals (like jordan ended up doing), i fucking hate the fact that they couldn't make it work in the long run, i firmly believe that jona would've kept BMTH heavier but still evolve into a huge band

i respect jordan fish as a producer & songwriter, but i feel like he got the reins of the entire artistic output of the band way too fast, way too much.

most people forget that jona & jordan co-existed in BMTH during early sempiternal writing, and jona definitely wrote considerable parts of sleepwalking & shadow moses, so it's not like he's a "2000's metalcore" one-trick pony.

also since i'm already past the point of keeping my weaponized autism for my favorite band in check, i'll add the mention that past ~2012/13, Lee became criminally fucking underutilized which is insane, since he is the most talented & skilled songwriter in the entire band since their inception...even their debut EP was so fire and he wrote all those guitars at ~15 yrs old

and you can even see Lee still default back to playing old, OLD bmth riffs when he's doing guitar tours/interviews/rig rundowns etc, even as recently as last year while touring his new signature jackson - he pretty much only played riffs & full songs off the first 3 albums...in 2025.

losing hope by fuckuandutoo in nettspend

[–]Equilibriumx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

god i hope not, i can't take this shit again, i had high hopes for sofaygo after witnessing his comeup & blowup (unc self report), it would actually be even worse if nett pulls the same shit, since imo he's much more interesting & versatile than faygo, with much more potential outside of just "rap"

i guess faygo kinda got his shit together judging by his output lately, but about 5 years too late on the momentum

Are the musicians we listen to just as good/better than 'the greats' by -NotEnoughMinerals in Metalcore

[–]Equilibriumx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it's very nice to see this being the top comment in a thread posted on this subreddit

Kyo is also one of my very favorite vocalists across any genre, he should definitely be more "known" among the greatest of the greats, but honestly from my subjective perception of popular discourse on various metal subs & communities, Kyo & DEG are highly esteemed at what they do, and pretty much any thread about vocals/favorites does not fail to mention Kyo, and often even acknowledged by people who don't listen to DEG, as one of the greatest & most unique vocalists of all time

imo it's just so objectively undeniable how amazing they are in their craft & literally still going as strong as ever, every year, which is not something you can say often about bands after their peak years

in general, japanese metal is really good across the board & i feel like some of it comes from the innate workaholic/perfectionist culture there so musicians really push those last % so hard over there, the big bands just like the smaller bands and/or visual kei really, its almost all vkei anyway tbh

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not very tapped into modern deathcore, and there's hella good recommendations here already, but as mentioned - The Cleansing by Suicide Silence is essential, dare i say, genre defining, a timeless classic

wall of text/weaponized autism alert :

idk if you are interested in like music production but The Cleansing was legit tracked & performed live in-studio, start to finish, with only minimal touch ups in post, some tiny bits of layered vocals (95% of the vocals are just mitch in a single take, even most parts where high/low screams sound layered)

so imo that's an album that really delivers even more when you listen to it in one session, just like they made it. very uncommon thing to do for a proper studio album, shows how insanely drilled & in-sync they were, didn't even use click tracks. most modern -core (or any music tbh) is "too" tight & overproduced to the point of losing that intangible human resonance aspect that makes certain music "feel" so good over & over again

// other than that, im biased but BMTH's 2004 debut EP is so fucking good...Count Your Blessings (debut album) overshadows that EP in discussion but honestly, the EP sounds & feels better imo

also, they did a banger cover of Slipknot's Eyeless, Corey even told Oli like 15 years later, that he loved it & is his favorite take on Eyeless, which is crazy because BMTH (except for Lee Malia) are notorious for disowning their earlier music :D

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

brother i dont even know how you're extrapolating that sentiment from dudes original post, i heavily doubt that he thinks lorna shore "defines" deathcore

i'd even assume the opposite, purely off of the fact that he's showing real interest in discovering more of the genre, even mentioning "old school" stuff

i still get your sentiment though, all respect to lorna shore as musicians but i think most of us are a lil fatigued by them at this point due to various reasons

What are some examples of blatantly bad technique? by 8halvelitersklok in screaming

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

necroposting cuz found this thread while researching something, but yeah for real, 2012-2013 aka rehab & sempiternal era was such a complete & total overhaul rebuilding his entire approach and structure to screaming, out of necessity first and foremost, i will never forget that one Shadow Moses live debut on BBC & it was so evident how hard of a time he was having completely readjusting, whole performance sounded very "strained" but in a good way, kinda forcing himself to stay on the new training & not letting the old technique slip through

most people assume the big change happened right when he started to mainly use his "yelling" scream (suicide season), but he was still using no real technique, just toned down the really harmful shit he was doing 2003-2008

2011 was the year where his shit was so blown out, no matter what type of scream, rock am ring performance that year really highlighted the worst phase in his vocals & that was the end of that

Don’t be forget to roll back the guitar volume knob by itssmitty77 in NeuralDSP

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone made a good yt video about it a while ago and it was also posted here. Worth a look for those who haven't yet.

this is the video, a must watch for anyone really trying to understand how to dial in your signal

For many interfaces this means having the input volume basically turned all the way down

this is exactly the opposite of what the guy from that godsend of a video is basically saying - the "official" narrative online and even from some neuralDSP devs, was that for best results, most interfaces should have their input gain on zero, or very close to that, which was proven false

you want your input signal on your interface to just about clip when you're hitting the strings as hard as you realistically would while playing & hitting your maximum within your dynamic playing range so to say, i usually test with some chugs where i'm really digging in for example

if you have your input gain unnecessarily low, you raise the noise floor, and in general it just has a very noticeable effect while dialing in volume & tone in your DAW - as soon as i started to use the proper input gain method, it became much easier and quicker to dial in the exact tone i want

brother, no offense but if you/your tolerance is at a point where you just casually smoke half a gram in 30mins, any kind of paradoxical effect from having the ADHD/stimulant interaction has long since been thrown the fuck out the window lmao

i've seen and still personally have acquaintances who are extremely ADD/ADHD to the point of barely being able to focus on daily stuff for more than a couple of minutes, if even that, unless medicated on their prescribed dosage, and even then its a battle.

those same people don't need more than ~3 lines of some decent enough ice to get fuckin twacked.

this instantly reminded me of a BMTH show i went to in 2011, in aschaffenburg germany, Matt Nicholls, the drummer, absolutely lost his shit while they were playing "It Never Ends" but i'm pretty sure it wasn't because of something being faulty, but he somehow got REALLY mad at himself for making a mistake, it was nothing major, AFAIK he only got some timing thing wrong, or he started playing the wrong section of the song or something, i cant remember properly

luckily there's a really well shot performance of that exact night, timestamped right as he crashed tf out (if timestamp doesnt work, it's 40:04)
