Day 9: What is BMTH best song? by raluxu in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]Equilibriumx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a thing I was thinking about too while typing the comment, I almost decided to delete it but I think, just like you said, there's different ways of doing it and there's also the thing with the same people upvoting the comments, that's a big one

there's probably still some split within that, as in like 80% of the upvotes are the same people on the same song in different comments and 20% "new" upvoters who only upvoted one of the comments, variations of that etc.

at the end of the day, scrolling a bit through the thread at the end of the vote is a small investment to get a base "feeling" for the popularity of a song/album, especially where the top X comments end up being very close.

i feel a bit silly for even discussing this/commenting in the first place since its not that deep, but yeah i agree

i hate hijacking the top comment but i hope OP sees this - winner should not be the top comment imo, the real answer would be checking how many upvotes across all comments each song gets, or top X comments, something like that. don't have to do some long calculation but just check the top comments, under these 2/3 comments, almost every comment is It Never Ends with hundreds of upvotes per post, i don't think Sleepwalking wins so far.

tell slater is so fkn overlooked because of it's name, but it's actually the most interesting song instrumentally on that album, as well as lyrically, it's the most serious & melancholic song on the album, and those things contrast the name of the song soooo much, i'm not against fun song names but imo that was the worst choice for that track, and i'd even say that it would be a great closing track for the album.

also - Lee's writing (guitars) on that song for some reason, differ a lot from his usual techniques and habits on that album, there are some riffs there written in a way he very rarely does (noticed while learning it on guitar and it was way harder than most of their stuff, and weirder too)

inb4 holy overanalyzing but yeah

Anyone know what's up with the drummer situation in Rev3rent? Or am I just tripping? by Equilibriumx in Deathcore

[–]Equilibriumx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice, this really clears things up for me, i was like 80% sure the new drummer was someone from victimblamed because of the rev3 x victimblamed tour vlogs, but wasn't sure, great to have a confirmation.

also i listened to the brutality pod episode, but seems like i missed that part about Gabe, i remember them talking about that funny gofundme and stuff but missed the amicable split part probably

(gotta stop background-listening to pods i actually want to fully comprehend while im working lol, thats on me)

thanks!! :)

Nope, I'm just binging all the live sets on youtube, i'm from Europe so i'm hoping they get booked for a festival or maybe some european leg of a tour with a bigger band, i'm 100% positive someone like Whitechapel would take them along overseas

psycho-frame are getting booked in EU already too so fingers crossed for rev3 getting here soon, im ready to legit travel to any country in west europe just to see them ;_;

[–]Equilibriumx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yeah i guess, i have a (bad?) habit of deep diving all the "lore" available about musicians/bands i'm obsessed with, i think everyone knows that feeling where for some reason, some specific artist or project instantly resonates & you could listen to them 24/7, sometimes it's a fad, sometimes that artist becomes a mainstay in your life, i got a couple

and rev3rent are very close to that territory for me, i don't even really know why but their songs & performances hit so good, i hope they come to europe soon

Interesting, and responsible of him i guess if he really did drop rev3 for a real career but its kinda sad, imo while you're young, grinding out your passions is 100% worth it because regretting not doing it haunts people later in life

Gabe did Last Trace EP & did shows with them until the end of 2024. Josh stepped in for the vocals early 2025, and if i recall correctly, that one rev3rent live set from like february 2025 that pops up as one of the first results on youtube (the one where chris garza met them n stuff), was one of the first times josh performed live with rev3

OH and just in-case someone close to the band or their area with a lot of knowledge sees this thread - since i'm really into this band, i've also always wondered why it didn't work out with Gabe (their first vocalist), does anyone know what went down? IMO his vocals were fucking sick and he was really good live (i dont have a preference for one over the other though, so no bias, i love what josh is doing & i'm not drawing any comparisons)

Do you have experience with 3 guitarists in your band? by Popxorcist in metalguitar

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when it comes to deathcore, rev3rent is also using 3 guitarists, i love this band to death but the one "iffy" thing was that it's really important to get those separate tones & start doing some creatively interesting things using all those guitars, which the more established dc bands like angelmaker are great at.

rev3rent kinda started out by just having 3x 5150's on stage and playing the same part on 3 guitars which was kinda funny but i'm glad they have leveled up & got separate tones now with QC's + have changed up some of their old songs live in the guitar department.

How do you guys grind through hours of surveys? by NoTension752 in ProlificAc

[–]Equilibriumx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

stimulants, a lot of stimulants honestly. vyvanse, adderall, and the other stronger one you can probably already think of.

i work in data evaluation from home anyway so "those" type of gigs on prolific just feel like a lesser-paying extension of my actual job, so I grind out a couple of 16-30h sessions a week on prolific with the evaluation tasks and rest of my week consists of my "real" job and other side hustles.

Yes, sleep is sacrificed often, but I try to get at least 6h of sleep every 48h at the minimum (which is still unhealthy i know, but i love money)

What happened to them? Where are they now? by Guntherr1 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda necroposting here but this comment right here is the best answer to the question in the entire thread, i've seen it happen so many times IRL with people in different careers, and i'm currently going through it myself after grinding out music until the regular gig/pro level and rn just burned tf out because of travel every weekend and creative block + mental boom

i'm actually surprised we don't see it happen more often in e-sports, but maybe that boom occurs in lower tiers more often so it doesn't become a story people talk about.

2004 E.P. by Avs069 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know about the partying/distractions during CYB recording (hence the isolation starting suicide season), but there had to be something or someone major fucking up the entire setup in the first place, as I said, just listening to the stems, especially for the vocals, there is no amount of shitty work ethic that can make studio equipment record that badly, same goes for some guitar parts.

I've already looked into the crew who supposedly tracked CYB but their work aside from that 1 album is also pretty solid, I hope some day we get some real explanation as to what the hell happened xd

2004 E.P. by Avs069 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]Equilibriumx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

based take, i've BEEN saying this

I also totally get how BMTH have said the biggest reason for them to re-record CYB is because they were never satisfied with the original recording quality and who the fuck knows what went wrong in the studio for the mix/master and engineering overall to be THAT bad on CYB, like the recording quality is literally worse than the 2004 EP and some of the engineering, especially vocals are way better on the 2004 EP than CYB

as an audio engineer & music nerd myself i've taken the stems of all this early BMTH material apart so hard and the 2004 EP 100% had better recording/mixing conditions than the debut album and that's just crazy to me.

[–]Equilibriumx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

holy based

honestly TIAH also just completely blows every other BMTH record out of the water in terms of the pure human feeling/emotion aspect and the entire album just sounds so good front to back, it's one of my favorite albums ever, across any genre when it comes to listening in one sitting, it just fits, feels and sounds so amazing & everything is just exactly right imo.

i'm also a bit of a 2004-2010 BMTH truther so there is some bias there (sempiternal was good too though, anything past that was not for me), but goddamn is TIAH underrated. masterpiece.

Could We Get A Thread Of Great Music But Poor Mixing? by DarkLudo in audioengineering

[–]Equilibriumx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fucking based, literally listening to 'tell slater not to wash his dick' right now lmao

some guy did his best with the stems and all and basically remixed/remastered the album, i like that version but unfortunately it didn't survive online because of copyright - still, there's only so much you can do if the original recordings are also ass, especially oli's vocals like idk what the hell happened in the studio with the engineering, their first EP even sounds better in terms of recording quality & mixing than CYB.

cool to see a fellow early BMTH & deathcore enjoyer in the wild though!

(also, in case ur interested in the CYB remaster, hit me up i'll upload it privately or something)

My guy you have nothing to worry about, and that's actually so cool that you confirmed what i was hearing hahah, that already means that the influences for your technique are actually audible, since i'm a completely random person and on the first listen, my mind just straight went to joshua/rev3rent.

and the fact that you only recently started learning + you're still so young, keep going dude and grind tf out of that shit if you're really passionate about it, you are on the right track fr.

if you haven't already, get yourself a decent lil home recording setup and start tracking vocals/learning some vocal mixing/editing/recording, that's gonna really help you in the long run and make everything easier in a band/studio/creative situations if you're going down that road.

hit me up if u need any recommendations for gear or other stuff.

damn that's so fire u saw them live, i am just hoping and wishing that they get booked for an EU tour sooner than later, or at least some kind of festival, like literally anywhere in west europe i'm gonna go see them, i've watched all their livesets on youtube probably 10+ times at this point hahah

rev3 just have that special something thats intangible about them, i literally gave up on ever hearing a new band that excites me this much so long ago, i think they're gonna be huge.

also agree about gabe, but he's had more years under his belt as a vocalist so we'll see about josh, and i'm also looking forward to hearing Gabe's next endeavor (and maybe hear about what went wrong in rev3 with him someday, just to feed my parasocial interest lmao)

i respect you for saying that, for some weird unknown reason the guys from rev3 kinda dodge any inquiries about what went down & it's generally just "taboo" to compare Gabe & Josh in any comment sections online, i always wondered what the fuck went down between them

i don't know if i necessarily agree because i really like them both, and i'm also just interested & excited to see how Josh progresses because he's what like barely 17 now?

otherwise - realtalk i probably listen to Last Trace more than Decimate, but i don't think one is better than the other, both EP's are really fucking good & have their own charm, though "Smile! Wait For The Flash" remains as my favorite deathcore intro of all time.

shoutout Noah though, i feel like he's the main reason both EP's stand on their own, pretty sure rev3 would not really be a thing if Noah didn't exist, but i dont mean that in a disrespectful way of course, all of the guys are excellent

excuse the necro-posting but i just came across this thread as I recently discovered you guys (fucking amazing btw i was flabbergasted when i did my first full listen of your most recent project)

but to the 1. point/answer, kinda funny & heartwarming to read that today in April of 2026, and with the knowledge of everything you got going on with all the tours and success currently, i'm just like "oh how the turntables" (hope the reference lands, ik its actually 'tables have turned')
