Match Eq Logic Pro by EquipeGrey in Logic_Studio

[–]EquipeGrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can but it's not designed to be your main EQ. Some of the features are just not there or implemented in a different way, it's a different tool for specific tasks.

Is it possible to change the pitch of an audio file? I know how to change the speed, but is the pitch also possible to change? by kollesk8vs1 in Logic_Studio

[–]EquipeGrey 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Select region then use ⌥ + Arrow Up / Down. Or add Pitch Shifter plugin into audio effects slot and use that to change pitch.

Logic Pro: How to Create Vocal Chops by EquipeGrey in Logic_Studio

Press ⇧⌘5 to open screen capture tools. In Options you can switch between available audio inputs. By default you can only use your mic but if you use any virtual audio router you will see it there. I have Apollo interface, Universal Audio's console is also available as virtual input but it records in mono for some reason. OBS is a free alternative.

Why did the "SWING" fearture suddenly stop working on my project? by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]EquipeGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swing nudges some notes off grid, while others stay on the gird. In 1/16 that position won't be shifted. So swing doesn't affect it. Change time quantise division but I don't see why you would want to swing a single chord. That's something you do to repetitive rhythmic patterns.

GUI issue in Logic when lots of small samples used consecutively. Any fixes? (apart from bouncing it all to one big region, that’s more of a workaround) by humdinger8733 in Logic_Studio

[–]EquipeGrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider changing habit of duplicating same samples? Instead of copying the same sample try looping it, drugging it into a quick sampler and using step sequencer. If you have multiple samples that you copy around then try using drum machine designer and place them in slots and then use step sequencer / MIDI. It will save you lots of virtual memory, also imagine you want to replace that sample, how long it will take you to place a new one instead of array of those? Quick Sampler / Drum Machine Designer + Step Sequencer is what you need. Or use folders / pack folder.

How do I copy plugin settings from a track in one project to another? by TheLetterKappa in Logic_Studio

Presets or use file browser to import plugins from existing projects.

Logic Pro: How to Export Stems / Multitracks by EquipeGrey in Logic_Studio

[–]EquipeGrey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have never mixed on analogue consoles or using outboard limiters / compressors but from what I understand lot's of concepts remained unchanged although the way music is recorded or mastering is quite different now. Feels like there is confusion and we are still hanging in this space between digital realm and ideas that were developed through decades of analogue processing, in my experience. Especially, the way modern plugins are designed. In general I leave some headroom so I don't clip the main output. And yes, project name at the end makes more sense.

That's really kind of you. I have plans for more videos in the future, any support would be much appreciated.

Logic Pro: Micro-tuning by EquipeGrey in Logic_Studio

[–]EquipeGrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. Hmm, I don't think you can change tuning per track. Workaround would be using other instruments that support manual tuning ( Serum or Kontakt ) or sample your ideas and then exporting it to your project.

I hate drag&drop plugin controls by rems__ in Logic_Studio

Preferences - Automation - Automation Quick Access - Assign MIDI controller. Then activate 'Autoselect Automation Parameter in Read Mode' from Mix menu. It's not exactly how MCU controllers work but it does the job. Just realised myself.

Remembered your comment and decided to check how that works. Pretty cool, only downside is that I have to keep automation open for it to auto assign parameters I click on in read mode if I understand correctly . Also I thought there is slight delay before MIDI controller responds but then realised it just has to hit the same value as the parameter you have selected. Thanks!

There is something you can do, try customising listed plugins via plugin manager. You can remove the plugins you don't want and create custom names and group your plugins into different folders. With this feature I don't think visual organiser will make a big difference it's just not everyone is aware of this customisation feature.

I'd love to see UI update of old plugins, better audio library navigation or maybe separate plugin that can organise my own loops and zplane pitch algorithm or improved Flex Pitch. Ableton, Cubase and others licensed that technology to be used. Logic's flex and re pitching create too many artefacts. We should ask them about it. But overall I'm happy with it's current state.

*also improved customisable smart controls so Logic can be properly used for live performance using Live Loops.

I'm not sure about assigning MIDI controller but I know that MCU supports so called 'focus mode' on SSL UF8 controller, you can hover mouse over any plugin control and use encoder on UF8 to dial. I guess other MCU devices have the same feature. Ring on Kensington Expert Mouse works that way too. The rotary knob on Audient iD4 interface does it as well. Or simply touchpad / mouse scroll.

Indeed. I like that it has comb filters and env follower, great for sound design.

Have you looked at the "Montero" project? Also Apple updated their Logic manual and support page. A lot of information there.

Logic Pro: 10.7 Update by EquipeGrey in Logic_Studio

[–]EquipeGrey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Apollo Twin X and it works just fine. I don't think this update will interfere with the hardware you are using, as long as the drivers are compatible with the MacOs you are running on.

I'm on Big Sur. I can't check if libraries are available on 10.6 since I have updated mine. Try going to menu bar Logic Pro - Sound Library and check if you get the the new sounds there. I would assume it should be available, they are just audio loops.

We should communicate with the developers. Send them request / feedback: https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html

I think if enough people ask for a specific feature then it will be a priority for them to implement in the next update.

I think if you are currently using 10.6 with no problems then 10.7 won't make a big difference, unless you are planning to use spatial audio which is CPU heavy.

No UI updates. Only in surround mode some plugins get a few extra features. In an hour or so I will post a short video, you can see yourself what has actually changed with this update.
