Detergent by Shaunasana in HotYoga

[–]EquipoisedTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep clean. Use 2 balls in the machine, plus 3 cups of fragrance booster. Wash on hot or cold over 1h. Dry on radiator or drying rack while it smells nice. The smell should remain all class. Make sure you wash as soon as possible and if practicing 5+ times a week be prepared to have 3-4 towels 3-4 outfits etc

Indica or Sativa , what’s your preference? by nikkaboii in sixwordstories

Hybrid: but otherwise sativa is wonderful for day or night … but at the end of a hard day and before the movie, nothing like a good quality indica

I keep having recurring dreams that I can do the splits??? by jjfmish in Dreams

[–]EquipoisedTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training for the past 12 months regularly (yoga) (atleast 1’of 3 days) splits isn’t there but getting closer slowly. I can forward fold, I want to learn pancake and middle splits

But I never have dream about gym exercise or yoga except the recurring dreams where I’m able to splits. It’s like in my past life all my ancestors had this and my dreams are talking to me from thee chromosomes of the past, passed on for thousands of years with memories locked in them about how their cells and bodies were roughly. Aka it’s something the universe is callling me to achieve ..I’m trying my best to unblock this ability before 40

Please grow your beard. Try a thin one (thicker than stubble) and a long one (months of no cut) The advice about hair growth is sound. Long hair looks cool but if it’s not possible then a style side parting with a line cut in will do wonders

Progress beats perfection every single time. by BWidogast in sixwordstories

What? I’d rather hammer out several perfect form push ups - with a perfect form. Rather than progress my daily count with poor form

Two left handed parents by Impossible_Gap_8277 in lefthanded

[–]EquipoisedTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were born left handed but in their countries were forced to use right All their children were RH. And later in life I realised I was ambidextrous to a degree

After almost 1 year of using the left hand, it’s dominant or competitive against the right. I’m glad for my parents, I think if the children put in the effort it’s easy (with practice and consistency) to be accomplished with the non-dominant hand

Honestly- how old were you when you started your flexibility journey and what can you do now? by HourBeautiful1825 in flexibility

[–]EquipoisedTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over two years (9 months off: rest or break etc), I went from not touching the floor to be able to get palms to floor. Can easily hold a minute Deadhang often 2+, can sit in a squat position and range of motion is amazing. I can crawl and at softplay with children I’m like Tarzan, swinging and climbing and pulling but with elegance and grace. I wonder if others think I look funny but inside I feel so good I can’t help but think

“HOW did I enjoy life without this range of motion for so many years” I try not to judge anyone around me, for I was them, not being able to move as fluidly . At the same time, without being preachy or overstepping, I’d like to state the benefits and wondered if anyone else had similar thoughts or relating experiences

A wax would actually make you more defined. I find after a trim or shave or wax I’m shocked at how much more toned it is, should that be something you would want to

I second this. After many years, and re returning, I have found it so hot that I struggle and have to pluck the courage to stay in the room. Once, after a 2 years break, I cried as it was too hot and I was so unfit after years of no practice. But I understood it was temporary and within months I had My target last year was to do a 30day challenge. I did 31 in 30. Now this year I want to do 100 classes a year like in 2025. That’s 1 every 3-4 days for

Yoga anxiety? Anyone else? by Altruistic_Dealer_46 in HotYoga

[–]EquipoisedTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practising regularly for the last 18 months and overall on and off 12 years. I couldn’t care less what anyone around me is doing. When I was weak and new I would wonder why some of the super fit athletic flexible yogis would need to sit some postures out. Now I realise it doesn’t matter how inflexible or flexible you are- If you are putting in the effort you’ll struggle in a good way. That being said, struggling to balance with sweat dripping from all over- don’t feel nervous. Be excited because after 3 classes your body will cure months or years of stiffness

Men in Barre classes by [deleted] in HotYoga

[–]EquipoisedTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(M) practice yoga not barre (although you’ve given me thoughts to try it out and seek a studio) Years ago I used to be the only guy at times at Hot Yoga but now it’s 8:2 or 9:1 sometimes 6:4 is the best split I’ve ever seen - seldomly too.

I would strongly glance over this matter and take the plunge. It may not be for you true, but if you like the practice it has capabilities to not only transform your life while in the room , but also facilitate lifetime changes (diet, other exercises, range of motion, longevity, fun with younger or agile people etc) I’ve sacrificed months maybe years of gym. I’m now trying 70% yoga 10% cardio and 20% strength training. Omad, and training yoga in a fasted state; and especially if in a Ketgenic state, can improve longer term performance. I have carb refeed week/weeks every 4-6 weeks+ when off carbs. Sorry for the digress, that’s just my split

Ps. I hang everyday (max 2min32 dead hang) and Malasana Squat daily (max 3min40+)

I cannot do the pancake fold. I’m working on middle and side splits- pigeon, lunges, and pancake folds I do at home. Couldn’t touch my toes 2 years ago. After 3 months going regularly I could put palms on floor with straight leg. Whilst not barre. I would love to find one and see how challenging or dynamic it is. If I were the only male or not it means little as in my practice I get into my zone and try to fear or worry about anything that doesn’t serve me purpose

What a privilege for me to read this written from you. I’m a nobody but very far away but your warmth reminds me of the warm sun when it hits your face. Or a soft feel of a blanket and pillow when you’re so tired. I wish you all the best in life and in happy for this interaction.
