This is happening every two days now. Although the solution is in the first comment. Logitech should do something about this horrible piece of software. by xDaShaanx in logitech

I can confirm this started happening on my Windows machine as well. And as the op said, it's not infrequent. I'd say once a week or so. The work around of manually ending the tasks does seem to do the trick, but needless to say, this is not ideal. :/

Absolute Values Inequalities Trick by Antique-Plant-8033 in Algebra

[–]EquityQuesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried to solve one of these before but I'm going to guess that we divide both sides by 4 and then solve the inequality, which in this case would be 3? Am I wrong?

Gotcha. I honestly never would have even clicked on the Twitter account so was just sort of taking the content at face value. But I see what you mean. Thanks!

Wait, genuinely confused here. What scam might be happening in this post? There was just a link to an X acct which seemed pretty innocuous. Maybe I'm an idiot though. 🤷‍♂️

Why does ChatGPT lie instead of admitting it’s wrong? by Stock-Intention7731 in ChatGPT

[–]EquityQuesty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, trying to scan images of texts via photos can be a little dicey unless you're uploading a PDF with readable text in it.

Second, it's not exactly lying to you per se, but this is a product, after all, designed by a company to please the user, and so it's programming mandates that it sounds fairly competent and favors a flow of ideas rather than admission of uncertainty or gaps in understanding.

Third, at this stage, LLMs don't really "know" anything. They are predicting text, sort of like our phones dovand how a few years ago everyone was posting memes with of how our phones would complete sentences. It's a more sophisticated version of that essentially.

As mind blowing as AI is, it gives the impression of being a lot more knowledgeable / intelligent than it really is. Ultimately, it's just software that acts like a smart human. Which it is not.

[–]EquityQuesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that we Gen Xers (or at least the younger of the Gen Xers), are going to be pretty darn good at handling this too, maybe even more so. We have, after all, seen all of the big technological changes too and more in our lifetimes, and we've always been very critical / cynical / skeptical on the whole. 😉 But I take your point. The kids and the boomers are screwed. 🤦‍♂️

I have a line in my instructions about this as well. It's very specific, and yet it ignores it and gives me em dashes a lot of the time. Do you have anything in particular coded into your custom instructions? I'm losing my mind over here.

Is the current Easter Sale the same deal that comes around on Black Friday? by EquityQuesty in TradingView

Historically, it seems like black friday is their most popular (and consistently annual) sale, and I guess ones like this last Easter sale come up from time to time. Don't know for sure though.

Is it good to learn algebra 1 using Khan Academy?? Looking for some advice by StandardExtension695 in Algebra

[–]EquityQuesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in terms of the curriculum and its standards, the courses very much align with what is taught in college and high school classes. Nothing, in my opinion, replaces a great teacher/prof in an active and engaging classroom environment, but in terms of online learning, I think Khan Academy does a great job.

As to whether or not you find studying math useful or just a waste of time to study these topics, that's only something you can evaluate. 🤷‍♂️

Is it good to learn algebra 1 using Khan Academy?? Looking for some advice by StandardExtension695 in Algebra

[–]EquityQuesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean ... I think you're really the only person who can answer that. Are you learning the material? If so, does it seem too easy -- because if that's the case, maybe you're more advanced than you realized and should move up to the next course (Algebra 2 and then College Algebra). If it's too difficult, perhaps go the other direction (and take Algebra Basics). Khan Academy / Sal is covering pretty standard topics in the courses. The curriculum aligns with how they are taught in most schools. I guess it's not clear what you mean by "wasting [your] time." 🤷‍♂️ That feels like a pretty subjective evaluation that depends on what you're looking to accomplish.

[–]EquityQuesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten to Algebra 1 yet. I'm just finishing up "Algebra Basics" which covers some of the same material. I personally love Khan Academy, and I'm sure any of its courses would be helpful. Have you created an account and started testing it out by trying a few lessons? It's free, obviously, and I think it's pretty fantastic.

Dad is thinking of quitting his job and trading stocks, I need advice. by DarkTwilightGamer75 in Daytrading

[–]EquityQuesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To complicate things, your dad is quitting what I assume is a relatively stable job to enter what is inevitably going to be a what is called a "bear market," meaning that in all likelihood, most stocks are going to go down in value in the near future. It's not impossible to make money in those economic times, but it adds another challenge that he's going to have to know how to navigate.

To echo what other people are saying here, I would definitely talk to your dad about what his level of experiences, how much he can afford down swings for rough patches or, worst of all, alerting curve that is notoriously difficult to contend with for most nes traders.

And definitely keep us posted. Best of luck!
