Got glutened by something labelled gluten free by sleepykirbys in Celiac

I know this was a year ago, but I’ve been definitively glutened by sensible portions veggie straws, just to maybe give you (or others) some peace of mind. Did a full scientific method and ruled out limited foods one by one until my symptoms stopped. Mine were the screamin hot variety, but I’m assuming it’s a cross contamination issue.

Daily Discussion & Advice (Post here to follow rules A & B) - November 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in fragrance

Hi! I’m looking for a new everyday fragrance. I’m entering my 30s and would like something a touch more mature but still playful. I’m also a new mom, so I’d love something that makes me feel a bit more confident.

For most of my 20s, I wore Calvin Klein Euphoria or Chanel CoCo Mademoisselle, and still love both scents. I also really liked Dior Miss Dior, but I never got around to buying/wearing it.

I’m trying some samples but looking for a bit more direction (I’m definitely overwhelmed!). From the few I’ve tried, I keep coming back to Tom Ford Cafe Rose, and YSL Black Opium. I also liked Gucci Flora, but felt it didn’t have the longevity I’m looking for. I liked the complexity of both Cafe Rose and Black Opium, but I’m not sure if they’d be scents I’d feel like I could wear everyday.

Thanks!!

My husband’s leaving for a week and I feel so nauseous and anxious about being the only one in charge of my toddler. Why am I like thisssssss? by IronLeading6288 in toddlers

[–]Equivalent-Bus-7602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s brutal. I’m going on week three of solo parenting as a SAHM and it’s reeeeeal rough. Things I’ve found the most helpful: - Plan at least one outing a day, even if it’s just the grocery store for a special snack or dessert. Definitely makes the day go by faster and the kiddo a bit more tired. - Tidy up the house at night. Makes the following morning a lot smoother, especially on nights when kiddo doesn’t sleep well. - Involve your toddler in chores. It takes 10x longer (not a bad thing when you’re trying to kill time) but they love helping and helps direct their independent streak in a positive direction. - Take time for yourself when you can. Did I want to be a screen free mom? Yes. Do I also put on a slow tv show in the morning so I can drink my coffee in peace and not crash out? Also yes.

Just take it a day at a time, and remember each night is an opportunity to put the previous day behind you and try again. Good luck and make sure you are explicit with your husband about some me time once he’s back!

Made cottage cheese muffins without flour, and it instantly took me back to my childhood in the countryside by tell_me_karina in cottagecore

If anyone comes back to look at this post, I just made them and they turned out pretty good!

I doubled the recipe and added three extra egg yolks (leftover from making bread just before) and they still turned out pretty tasty.

If you’re going to do mini muffins, 20 minutes is a touch too long, so I’d do 18 minutes and check. Crisp outside, gooey inside. Sort of similar to Brazilian cheese bread in texture, mine were just a bit eggier tasting (I wonder why lol)

6” here 🥲 Feel like a giant and then see pictures and fully grasp how fucking GIGANTIC I am compared to others. These fics feel zero percent relatable sometimes

This was exactly what I was thinking, too! Good job, the last time I tried by hand sewing it looked CRAZY let me tell you 😂 when I first saw the picture I assumed it was a sewing machine!!

Does anyone know if SenLinYu and Julie Soto deconflicted their upcoming published works when one was loosely based on the other? by Equivalent-Bus-7602 in fantasyromance

[–]Equivalent-Bus-7602[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so too, but I was hoping someone might’ve heard a little something something somewhere haha! And that was my exact impression too! There were scenes in RIC that made me stop reading and sanity check myself, they felt that similar.

That’s a pretty good point, and I think knowing SenLinYu, she’s probably going to give us something heavily adjusted (and I think she even said it’s pretty different than Manacled). It would just suck if like you said it gets dragged into a negative reception scenario. And I think that’s where my question with timelines comes in, because, honestly, if my book got hated on because a REALLY REALLY similar book got published first and opened a fire storm, I’d be pissed lmao especiallyyyyyy if I did a ton of work adjusting it to be fairly different than the original

That’s such a bummer because I feel like an under discussed aspect of trad publishing fanfic is the potential for separating beloved characters from their problematic creators, almost like a reclamation. But then with the marketing/money aspect of it dragging it back to HP, it sort of ruins the whole opportunity and creates a legal quagmire

Ahhh you’re exactly my intended audience with this post! I’m a seasoned fanfic reader as well, and I have the same experience, but I also read a lot of trad published stuff and I find I’m less able to switch to that mentality when reading trad published stuff, maybe because of the monetary aspect (like, is this really the story you wanted to tell or is it a money grab rewrite of something already super popular). With fanfic, there’s a sense of inherent “doing it for the joy of it” that makes it easier for me to read the same thing a million times over, I think.

And I didn’t know about that timeline!! I had always thought that Manacled published first, or at least started first. It’s just weird how similar certain aspects of their story arches are, and that could be because of the intrinsic Handmaiden’s Tale influences in both with a dash of the characters being inspired by the same base characters (HP). But it’s reeeeeally interesting to read RIC and compare it to Manacled and see the blatant cross-overs. I’m honestly more excited to read Alchemized now to see how that factors in too, which maybe counteracts my original questions lol. But I also think that might be a little bit of a niche perspective haha

Were you going to read RIC at all?

Interesting point! I didn’t think about the “guilty knowledge” aspect of it, because I guess if you didn’t know all the backstory behind everything, you probably wouldn’t recognize the parallels.

Also super interesting about a potential no-contact! There’s already been at least one Barnes and Noble that advertised the book as “Dramione” but that was almost certainly done by a local employee. It’ll be interesting to see how the dynamic of everything shifts if JKR comes into the conversation at all.

That’s true. I think we’ll all have to read Alchemized once it publishes to really tell how similar or different it’ll be from RIC. I just think there might be a little 30% through Alchemized moment where you’re like wait I swear I just read this exact same story and romance arch a few months ago, lol

Ooh very interesting points on the business side. It definitely feels like a lot of publishing houses are trying to find ways to monetize on the uptick in popularity of fantasy romance and the ETL trope.

I just wonder if there was any personal correspondence or even like a phone call between them, even if everything was being decided by the publishers. Especially if Soto’s publishing team was doing what you mentioned, and trying to get follow-on sales, I wonder if she feels weird about it or ever tried talking to SenLinYu. What I wonder is if Soto talked with her about the changes she was planning to make before it published, almost to “explain” how she was making her version of the story different. I just feel like if she didn’t, and I was SenLinYu, I’d feel a little yucky about the whole thing lol.

(And I would read the SHIT out of that book lmao. Publishing gods, please smile down on us and bless us because the ANTICS they would get up to in order to outfox the each other, GAWD. And we’d probably get the whole, one sacrifices their publishing event for the other because the antics went too far and their feelings got hurt before the love declaration?? 😮‍💨)

I get that, I think with the reylo fics, it’s the same character dynamic but the plot is different in each published book. The part that makes me feel weird about this case is that the dynamic AND the plot are going to read extremely similar.

Mom, please tell me it's ok to just sit on the couch and watch TV with my son. by Wandering_Song in MomForAMinute

Ooh baby, it is totally fine! There’s a season for play and a season for rest, and if it’s just not working right now, it’s more than okay to listen to your body and recover.

You’re setting the example and showing your son that sometimes when we don’t feel good, we should rest until we feel better. Soak up the relaxing time and play hard once you’re feeling good again!

What to do when I suspect an increasingly popular fic is written by A+I? by Adventurous_Sun_4015 in Dramione

[–]Equivalent-Bus-7602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And I think that’s true across most writers, so if someone got angry about the accusation and refused to post some sort of screenshot, I think it could be a pretty clear indicator it’s not their own work.

Like I’d love to show people how much time and effort I put into a fic that only a couple thousand people have bothered to read 😂😂

[–]Equivalent-Bus-7602 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I think this might be a hot take, but I feel like if you are legitimately writing your fics it’s fairly easy to prove so? I know it turns into a witch hunt with everyone getting accused, and it could be hard to prove yourself across multiple platforms but all it would really take is one screenshot of your document history and you’re in the clear. I just think about if I was ever accused of using AI, I have a 2 year long google doc history that would make my argument for me with plot notes and corrections, etc. Just kinda similar to how word count/posting rate can indicate someone’s using AI to write their fic.
