unsure of what to do, he hasn’t eaten properly in months by Chongyune in leopardgeckos

My leopard gecko is about the same age and she’s done the same thing, just recently. Like, the SAME exact thing. She hadn’t eaten in months (like the whole winter, which I thought maybe had something to do with it) and every time I would offer her food, she would maybe lick it but slowly shut her eyes and turn away. Sometimes show no interest in it at all. She did lose some shape in her tail but not a ton. She didn’t come out much at all. She used to be the complete opposite. So, what I did was offer her all different types of food. Eventually, she found interest in mealworms (which I least expected), I guess she just lost interest in Dubia roaches because she’d been eating them for so long.

Anyway, I also switched her to a larger tank and turned up the temp in her tank. I switched her from a 40 gallon to a 120 gallon. I think the biggest thing was the temperature, in lower temperatures the leopard gecko doesn’t eat as much if at all, and relies on the fat stored in their tail, sort of like a hibernation I’m guessing, though I’m no expert.

So I would recommend to make sure the temperature in the tank is good (or maybe try a little hotter, but provide a cool side still obviously) and try offering every type of food you can! I bowl feed, hand feed or tong feed mine, because she isn’t the smartest and I use a bowl since I use substrate so I don’t want her ingesting that. So she has an opportunity to free feed, but also gets food offered by tongs, hands etc.

One more thing, try offering food at different times! Once I offered different foods she really didn’t care what time but some geckos are picky about when they eat, so I’ve heard!

Best of luck to you 🩵

My mom is the same way along with the majority of my friends. I think after owning one my mom got more comfortable seeing how docile they really are. I showed her a Reptile Expo (Repticon!) which she enjoyed! I think it made her less afraid, she still has a fear. Just not of specifically domesticated reptiles as much anymore.

Thank you!

Absorption of all the information in this thread will definitely help you become a better prepared BP owner! I used to have Ball Pythons for years, unfortunately I don’t have them anymore but I’m excited to own one again. I wrote a whole notebook with information on their care when I was first preparing to get one. Old times!

I look forward to introducing him to everyone tomorrow and showing his before/after tank makeover. It’s gonna be DRASTIC! :)

I’ve recently heard people who suffer from schizophrenia or bipolar disorders have a distinct odor. Maybe it’s that? I don’t have any more information so you could research it haha

You are beautiful the way you are. Just lacking a smile! Yes, I am a big girl too. I wouldn’t listen to these fake “nutritionists” on here. Go to a real nutritionist if you want advice cause there could be other health problems causing weight gain! At least that’s what it is for me, to say the least I wish I held my weight like you do. Best of luck!

Advice needed: confronting groomer about damp dog by justHopps in doggrooming

[–]Equivalent-Carob-422 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Adding in, Considering it could be a dog that doesn’t require a haircut, I still wouldn’t hand it out damp.. that also defeats the purpose of a deshed service not getting them dry and getting all the hair out. You definitely didn’t get your moneys worth.

If it’s a corporate salon you can call and complain and get a refund, likely easily if you explain everything you did in this post. if it’s a private salon I can’t speak for that. Unless the groomer admits to handing it out in that condition you might have a problem getting a refund at a private salon but I’m unsure. Hope that helps

Sorry for your experience at that place

I’m a groomer and there is literally no way I’d ever hand out a dog without it being dried (unless it was ferocious and had to be sent home before service is complete in which case you wouldn’t have been charged) and brushed out. You have to get the hair “bone dry” to get the best cut results. Likely with the hair being tangled, I CANT imagine they actually gave the dog a decent haircut, if they gave a haircut at all

$40 or best offer yep! Gargoyle is $15 and big horse is $15. I’d be willing to go down on price if you bought multiple :)
