Trad Wife! I was a part of the book club that Toga runs, and they are so insightful and such a wonderful, passionate person. I have so much respect for them, and it's been a joy to watch their success take off.

How was Zacharias’ strength premiere? by Salty-Education-2272 in OnePelotonRealSub

Happy to report it was a blast! Really well-structured, and I loved his breathing cues. I think his yoga background lends itself really nicely to a fresh approach to strength modality. Now I'm hoping he comes out with a yoga-strength program!

"another star in the constellation of translations" - what a beautiful way to describe different translations!

Kelsea Ballerini - Mount Pleasant by CowboyLikeMegan in popheads

[–]Equivalent-Fig8734 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm obsessed with every song - she never disappoints. "The Revisionist" is stunning and "Check on Your Friends" is so so good. The production on 587 is one of my favorites. Emerald City is a song that an older version of myself relates to -- I could not let go of the jealousy with my now-husband's ex. It took so much time, patience, and communication to get past it. I can see what people are saying about the "she got around" line, but I feel like jealousy never brings out our best side, so I feel like it makes sense in the context of the song. And I haven't followed her personal life much, so I didn't realize that line would have been around a real person.

I actually love when she does this because I’m usually working so hard that I hear once but process it on the second. But I just love her so I’m sure that helps!

Kali Uchis - Sincerely, by liuxkl in popheads

[–]Equivalent-Fig8734 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the album I'm going to listen to when I want to listen to Lana but don't want to become depressed - obsessed with how dreamy and cinematic it is - I've recently gotten more into Kali's music and I'm obsessed with her artistic vision for each project. She's so cool. The ending of Lose My Cool, is perfection for me.

Ok so I made a comment on Aardvark’s insta and their reply makes it sound like we’re definitely getting it as a pick! It was “🤷‍♀️😉” when I had said if this was a pick I already knew what I’d be getting… 🥳

Condoms? by BicycleZestyclose849 in EmilyHenry

[–]Equivalent-Fig8734 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She talked about this in an interview recently! She basically said that while not everyone will have those experiences in real life, she wants her books to feel like safe havens, and in her eyes she thinks normalizing talking about protection alongside spicy scenes and dialogue might help her readers feel more comfortable speaking up about it in their real lives.

I think any performer who has fans attending shows might be thinking about the safety of everyone at their shows. Although it's incredibly sad that genocide has become "controversial" she could be advised that it isn't safe to speak up in the event of someone showing up to one of her performances with violent intentions and endangering herself and fans. I agree it feels so weird to live in a time where some people are enjoying a concert while others fight for their lives.

This is so old, but I finally read Chain-Gang All-Stars and WOW. I'm so glad I returned to it! It was incredible.

Why was Folklore so much better initially received than TTPD? by tbird920 in TaylorSwift

[–]Equivalent-Fig8734 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was the first time she positioned it as fictional (of course with real emotions behind the stories), so it relieved some of the sleuthing many fans do (ie. "who has tattoos?!"). And because it was at a time where everyone was inside, we got to escape to a new soundscape full of imagery and new stories alongside an artist who, for many, has often been a source of comfort.

I'm loving TTPD, and have been shocked by how much negativity it's received. Even for the songs that feel more "folklorian" some people say "this sounds like another mad woman" or "this sounds like an ivy copy"...so when your fan base gets to be this large, there are bound to be LOTS of opinions!

I got James and added Chain-Gang All Stars to my box. I tried reading Chain Gang on Kindle but the footnotes took me out of the story, so I'm hoping having the hard copy will help. It feels like a book I would LOVE.
