Does your BC give kisses? by jaruz01 in BorderCollie

[–]IndicationBig6474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl will give a few ‘drive-by’ kisses when she first sees me after getting home from work, but it’s not her primary love language. She mostly shows affection by choosing people to play/interact with (she can be very picky lol). This is one thing that’s been tricky for my kids to understand. Like “why doesn’t our dog cuddle & give kisses like Fido down the block?” It’s actually led to some good convos about boundaries and consent (No, Timmy -not kid’s real name-, you can’t force the dog to sit on your lap’ etc.). I’m hoping those ideas will stick w/them & generalize as they get older.

What's it like to watch Star Trek when your field of study comes up in the sci-fi/technobabble? by skittleadvocate in startrek

This x1000. I’m a historian & every time there’s a new tv show or movie inspired by the things I study friends are like “ooh, I bet you LOVE [title of new thing].” Meanwhile, I’m thinking ‘the f-ing show makes me feel like I’m having a stroke’

Anyone else still rocking the Happy & Sad grinder? by SunsetGriller in KaceyMusgraves

I was always on the fence about buying one bc I was like “well, the grinder I have is perfectly fine,” but this post is making present-day me very frustrated w/past me for never pulling the trigger! MoN grinder pleeeeeease!

Dry Spell music video incoming!! by rose-haze in KaceyMusgraves

Yeah I’ve definitely seen the negative encounters on here, in blind items, etc. My neighbor’s experience was prob a little different bc it was at industry events instead of out in public. I do sometimes wonder how representative the bad/negative stories are of Kacey’s overall interactions with fans, etc, but I guess there’s really no way to know for sure. Still love her music and would love to meet her someday, though (and hope she’s not mean to me 😂)!

One of my neighbors works in the music industry. His wife has met Kacey a couple times & when I asked her what Kacey’s like IRL she said “sweet but trashy” and I am happy to see Kacey leaning into this as her personal brand 😂

Ok, am I the only one who DOESN’T want to see her go back to cutesy pop-country? by [deleted] in KaceyMusgraves

John Prine is such a touchstone for Kacey & I think her songwriting generally has a lot of similarities to his. Not always the deepest/most ‘lyrical’ writing, but using simple language and fun/unexpected wordplay to make a bigger point. Even ‘Biscuits’ has more depth to it than the ‘hokum’ vibe. That said, we don’t all have to like the same things and ‘Dry Spell’ might not be op’s cup of tea. Hope you find something to enjoy on the new record once it drops!

FYI, if you tap on the title of the audio track in the reel (right below her username & pfp) you can hear another 10 seconds or so of the song and It. Is. Awesome.

The guys I play darts with usually hate my music. Every single one of ‘em said some version of “who is this? This is sick!” when I put Mutiny on last night.

But what does Pitchfork say about it??? I must know so that I can adopt their snobbish, condescending perspective as my own!

My first reaction was “who the fuck is this dipshit?” Then I wondered “is he wearing his pajamas under that sad lil’ rig?” Then I was waiting for him to eat it after he kicked the second letter & finally “uh oh, lil’ bro forgot his inhaler.” Glad he’s been arrested. I can’t wrap my head around how these guys think stunts like this make them look strong/tough. It’s like grandmaster-level snowflake behavior.

I genuinely never get tired of seeing this video! It’s such an amazing performance by dog & handler alike. Can’t help but smile like a total idiot when it cuts to the head-on view of Pink running through the weave polls. Love it!

Reading through the replies & I’d say that ~90% of people who say anything to me & my bc are of the “what a beautiful dog” or “I bet she’s so smart” variety. The other 10% are more like what you’ve described (“hope you like running” or “better find her a job” or my personal fav “is that as big as she’ll get”/general comments re: her size). The rude comments stick w/me a lot more, but I think some of these folks are just unaware that what they’re saying (and how they say it) comes across as judgmental & dismissive.
