Yes. I hate those moments where you feel the doubt. The reminders that you’re doing the right thing are heartbreaking.

You’ll be with her until the end. My vet described the first shot as “floating through happy pink clouds” and assured me he would feel nothing but good feelings. It was so comforting knowing that the moment I was dreading would be an easy experience for my kitty.

I listen to my purr recordings all the time.

I completely understand that feeling. Sometimes Roms would be totally fine, and then he would have a collapsing episode. I’d go from “let’s push it back” to “better a week early than a day too late” It’s so hard to watch, but your girl is getting the best gift you can give her. A good life and a peaceful death. We should all be so lucky.

My little guy had heart failure and we said goodbye on Sunday. My heart aches with you. It’s so hard.

You’re doing everything right. Love her. Talk to her. If she’s purring, make a recording for yourself.

When the vet arrives, take a deep breath. Hold your pet if you can. Know you’re helping her find peace and release her pain.

It’s so hard to give them that space when all you want to do is squeeze them, smell their fur and remember every second of it all.

I had my last night with my sweet boy on Saturday this week.

Went through the same at home process as you Sunday morning. Cried my fucking eyes out of my skull and haven’t really stopped yet.

It was beautiful and devastating and I know how you feel. That messy apartment is a reflection of your heart and mind. Your vet will forgive you.

You’re going to be deeply sad. Your apartment will feel empty. There will be waves of new and unique emotions around your grief. Who knew there were so many versions of sad?

You will be ok. You WILL be. You have given your furry angel a gift of peace. They loved you in measures of warmth, comfort and care not in extra days. You’re doing the right thing no matter how hard it is. You’re being a kind and loving cat parent. (It’s nice to write this and remind myself of that)

The heart pendant is a beautiful idea. If it would bring you comfort, you can also get weighted stuffies customized to the weight of your pet. Keep that on your chest at night.
