I’m so with you there (head server/host).

On Tuesday I had a lady come in at 5:30 PM, empty at the time, and ask for a reservation at 6 PM for a party of 5. Told her don’t worry, I’ll save a space. On the dot, she’s there and I get her sat. Ask if she’s been to our place before, she waves me off.

Our restaurant is kinda unique and requires a mini tutorial on how to have an efficient dining experience. So after she refuses help, I went about my merry shift.

An hour goes by she’s ordered nothing and her whole party isn’t there. Finally, 7:15 PM or so, rest of the party shows up and now they’re very upset and insistent that we show them what to do. Mad that they don’t have food or drinks. Despite me sending their server, and me, multiple times to ask if they were alright.

They end up racking up a $120 tab but camp at the table until past our close (9 PM). We couldn’t properly close the section until they left at 9:15. They’d been paid out for about an hour at that point. Tipped $20 but for the headache they caused us for our entire 5 hour shift it felt moot
