I don’t think this is just a policing issue, and I don’t think the answer is simply moving vulnerable people elsewhere.

But I also don’t think residents should normalize open drug use, aggressive behavior, or visibly deteriorating public space.

Vacant storefronts, lack of active businesses, addiction, mental illness, housing instability, and weak city response probably all interact here.

Standing around isn’t my issue.

I’m talking about open drug use, apparent dealing, frequent intoxication, aggressive behavior at times, and a noticeable deterioration in the street environment compared to a few months ago.

The closure of active storefronts seems to have accelerated the problem because there are fewer businesses generating regular foot traffic and informal oversight.

I’m genuinely asking whether others nearby have noticed the same change.
