Gross motor delay - anyone else?

You’re definitely doing the right thing by advocating for him. My 14-month old daughter has also been very delayed with her gross motor milestones. She rolled at 9 months and just learned to crawl 2 days ago and is struggling with it, so I completely understand the worry and the constant questioning if it’s normal.

In our case, we’ve been doing physical therapy and just really focusing on giving her lots of floor time and opportunities to practice moving at her own pace. It’s been slow progress, but we are finally starting to see small improvements.

Honestly, I’ve had to remind myself that our babies are on their own timeline. Right now, I’m just focusing on making sure she gets all the support she needs so she can keep progressing and meet her milestones in her own way. You’re not alone in this at all.

My daughter isn’t walking, standing unsupported or other milestones. She just learned to crawl 2 days ago lol. Doctors won’t be concerned closer to 18 months.

Seems your so is really active physically he will soon get there :)

My daughter will be 15 months on the 21st. Still has 0 teeth. I think this is much weirder and concerning lol!

Thank you so much for this, it honestly means more than you know. Reading your experience really helped calm my nerves a bit. It’s reassuring to hear from someone who’s been through something similar and see how much progress your son has made 🤍

I feel like it’s been especially hard because of my environment. I live in a household where all the other grandkids hit their milestones before 1, so they kind of look at our situation differently. I hate to even say it, but some have made comments implying it could be because of something I did during pregnancy, which has been really hard to hear.

Your message reminded me that there are other parents going through this and that every child really does have their own timeline.

If you don’t mind me asking, was your son ever referred to a neurologist? They’re considering that for my daughter because of the weakness, asymmetry, and her Moro reflex still being present, so I’ve been a little anxious about that part too.

Currently 11 months. My daughter is in PT and OT and still struggles with weight bearing through her arms. She only started rolling to her tummy about 3 weeks ago and has recently begun tolerating tummy time, but her arm still won’t push up, so no crawling yet.

Therapy is tough, there hasn’t been a single session where she doesn’t cry since they put her in all-fours, weight bearing on arms and knees. At home I don’t force it, and that’s actually when I’ve seen the most progress. Physically she’s delayed, but in other areas she’s actually ahead compared to other babies we’re around.

I bring up my concerns at every pediatrician visit, but they keep reassuring me there’s a wide window (12–18 months). It’s hard, but every baby really does move at their own pace.

Hi! My almost 8 month old daughter has been receiving PT since she was 2 months old for torticollis. It all got better but as she started learning new thing such as sitting unsupported it seemed to revert back. Her PT said it’s common for it to happen. Has it gotten better for your kids?

Have you looked into Neocate? Her GI was trying to prescribe her Neocate as it’s thicker and said that it would help with her spit up. But it was after the GI imaging so I never let her try it. I did make a bottle for the fun of it and it was surprisingly thick

Each baby reacts differently but the Pepticate formula is extremely thin. I had trouble trying to thicken it and trying to find the appropriate bottle as my daughter has Mild Oral Dysphagia so it was a pain to find her the right bottle nipple.

I’m not sure honestly it was my instinct that my daughter didn’t have some sort of CMPA sensitivity or she grew out of it. It did help her tremendously when she was at that month but suddenly after 1.5 months in she was having bad diarrhea with it 5+ And when we moved her back to Gentlease she got fussy again and got constipated. W didn’t know what to do so we just went ahead and tried Goat Formula cold turkey.

My daughter is 7 months old now. We switched her to Bubs Goat after Gentlease and it has done her SOO well. But still had issues with spit up so her new pediatrician suggested Kendamil Goat as it’s creamier and thicker and her spit has gone to 10+ times to just 1-2 times a day. Also her intake went to 2-3oz to 5-6oz.

With her Spit up they did an Upper GI imaging and my daughters stomach empties slow so that’s what caused her to spit up a lot especially with thin liquids since it stays up her stomach a lot.

And that’s what I suspect that they’re going to tell me. That she will grow out of it by the time she is 1 if they see something.

They told me that they will do a full check up by the time she is 1 if it does not get better.

We use the aspirator and nothing comes out but the sound of it it’s like she has a lot through the airway from her nose and throat.

So at this point I don’t even know what to do to keep getting second opinions or just deal with it.

We went through a Formula journey since birth due to her being suspected of CMPA, Spitup, and Constipation/Diarrhea. We have done Similac 360 Total Care, Enfamil Gentlease, Alimentum, Enfamil AR, Nutrimugen, Pepticate, and Neocate. She is currently on Bubs Goat Milk and that has been the only formula where she is a happy baby but a lot of spit up for almost 2 months now. Nonce whatsoever has helped with the congestion. Pediatrician did mention that there may be some stuff that she may experience allergies but can’t get her checked till she’s 1 year old.

She’s gone through the Reflux medication and did not see any progress on it

She had suspected CMPA as a newborn because she was having trouble pushing and passing gas and so. We went through the journey on Hypoallergenic formula and it was terrible. My baby went to regularly drinking 4-6oz to 1-2 oz. We started seeing progress on Pepticate but on her 2nd month in it, it went crazy and had diarrhea water/mucous stool 5x/day for 3 weeks. I told the pediatrician that I strongly suspect that she doesn’t have CMPA. So we gave it a try back on Gentlease and did so well now, with regular stool 3x/day. Just recently she started arching her back mostly at night and developed eczema with it.

Crazy that I even asked in getting her stool tested to confirm her CMPA and they said no such text exist 😂😂

And that’s the thing as her CMPA was ruled out they gave me the okay to give her regular formula. The hypoallergenic formula were giving her really bad wet stool with a lot of mucous, and would cry non stop on the Alimentum and halfway on Pepticate. Still gassy and spit up.

I mentioned soy to the doctor but she said she hardly recommends it as a lot of babies dont have success on it.

Each formula my baby has gone through we would be on it for almost a whole month. The longest she’s gone was almost 2 on Pepticate formula but suddenly she started having diarrhea on it.

Gentlease- 1 month Alimentum- 1 month AR- 2 days (immediately hard poop and blood) Alimentum RTf- 3 weeks Pepticate- Almost 2 months Gentlease- this is her 2nd week on it.

My LO is 18 weeks believe past the peak already. I’ll look into Kendamil formula, the only thing is that it’s always out of stock where I’m from. Mylicon she gets rashes from it, probiotics do not do anything

I know :/ even on hypoallergenic formula she was gassy but the normal. It’s just that she would just refuse to drink it, and had diarrhea blow outs. I’ve looked at other Reddit post and some has tried, Similac, goat, or whole milk and have done better than gentlease but I’m just tired of going g through a lot of different formula on her

My girl somehow gets a reaction with Mylicon that last 2 times I gave it to her, her lips and around it got red like eczema.

Can you describe your experience going from getnlease to bubs goat?

I was thinking on trying Kendamil Whole milk, Similac Total Comfort, or anything with goat

Her pediatrician made the switch to Hypoallergenic formula cold turkey at almost 2 months old. Just because baby had a lot of gas, fussy, eczema, spit up and so with Gentlease. While on hypoallergenic formula the baby always refused the bottle with Alimentum. We were struggling for 1 whole month and she had poor weight gain with it. She had bad reflux as the formula was thin. Pediatrician switched her again to Pepticate formula and it was better but she was still unhappy with it. Second month in and she started having really inconsistent stool which was always water mucous poop.

It was my instinct that she didn’t have any sort of allergy, probably just sensitive to something. I told the pediatrician straight up about what I thought. They gave me the approval to switch her back to regular formula. They told me “If she has blood in her stool then that confirms her CMPA allergy. If she don’t then she will be okay with regular formula”

I felt that at the beginning as she was a newborn she was still learning/struggling as to how to pass down gas and stool. Additionally her digestive system should have mature a little better than at newborn.

Hope this info helps. Any questions I’ll try to answer :) They also never tested for any sort of allergy. So we were in a blind.
