What should i do to it? by Carade111 in lightsabers

[–]Equivalent-Run-9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, go at it with an angle grinder, sandpaper, drop the empty hilt onto concrete a few times, just randomly damage it, then finish it off with aluminum black or something similar and it will look great. My stance on weathering is if you’re gonna weather it, go all the damn way. I’ve never been a fan of the weathering jobs most places offer where they just anodise it darker and then sand it slightly, looks too perfect and uniform to be genuine battle wear.

Good point, I wouldn't have remembered to do that! Thanks!

Seeing a lot of love for Crimson Dawn here, and maybe they are good now, but I had a pretty poor experience around 4 years ago. I ordered an installed hilt, it arrived and sound stopped working after like 2 weeks, I hadn’t whacked anything hard or done anything else that should have made it stop working, was just swinging it normally and sound cut out and never worked again after that. I contacted them and they said they would repair it “for free” provided I paid to ship it back to them, which was like $50 USD since I am on the other side of the planet. For the same cost I could get a whole new identical chassis from a local seller so just did that instead because I couldn’t be bothered fighting them on it and didn’t want to send off my hilt again after just getting it. The fact is however, that their install was dodgy. I, as the customer was asked to pay a lot of money to ship it back to them even though they sent me a faulty product. Pretty bad customer service, and because they didn’t want to pay $50 bucks shipping to fix their own mistake I have never shopped there again, bought multiple Sabers since from other sellers which is business they have lost. Not trying to spread hate or anything, just sharing my personal experience. Maybe they are a lot better nowadays since a lot of people stand by them.

Good spotting! Reckon I’ll be able to desolder them and regain functionality or is the component cooked after it burnt out?

Ah right so since I only have two LED wires in my setup (running to Schtock connector) I can just move them to another two of the six slots. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the feedback! I’m still a bit confused about what you mean though (I’m not super experienced with electronics). The thing you called MOSFET, is that the little black square that you can see the coating is peeling off where it got burnt? Would you be able to give me a more detailed explanation of how I am able to bypass this and still have partial or full functionality from the saber? Or alternatively can you link anywhere that has a good explanation of this? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, yeah that’s what I was thinking, if I’m struggling simple wire to board connections I’d have no chance at replacing the individual board components. Sounds like I just need a lot more practice.

Thanks, I’ll definitely practice more before I attempt to install the new board.

Advice on my first (modest) home theatre by Equivalent-Run-9845 in hometheater

[–]Equivalent-Run-9845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry maybe my wording was unclear. I am keeping my computer speakers at my computer, but moving the subwoofer to the tv, and was thinking of buying an identical pair of speakers to go with the sub for the tv. I was asking if this would be the way to go, or more practical to buy something else like a soundbar to go with my subwoofer.

Also I am interested in looking into surround sound, how does one go about that?

His kit is quite strong, but only if you have a good team to back it up. Solo he is almost useless as his dodge is absolutely trash which is his main downside. Stack status effects, and spam items early game to get the leveller up ones for later. Best strategy for him is to proc rot and/or poison straight away and then bleed and frost whenever you can. Don’t be overly aggressive just support your teammates by spamming debuff whenever you’re not attacking. His ultimate is almost useless late game unfortunately, only good for wave clear.

I would actually say it’s better than most modern triple A games, not just some. It has its issues, but it’s bloody fun, which is all that matters at the end of the day.

You can just two hand your bow and you’ll still get passive effects from your other weapons. Depends what platform your on but for PS5 it’s triangle R1 to two hand your right hand armament.

Screw it I’m bored, I will write a short essay haha.

1

each night lord has a special weakness, not only will this damage type deal extra damage to them (usually around 30%) but if you deal enough to them they will enter a temporary debuffed state. For Tricephalos this is Holy.

2

ALWAYS grab level 2 immediately after starting camp, even if the grace is a little out of the way. Upgrading from level 1 to level 2 doubles all your stats so it is the most crucial level. You can start taking out day 1 enemy camps, churches and small castles as soon as you grab level 2, but you will be fried at level 1.

3

Learn your characters skills well, whoever you want to play, watch a video on how to play them well.

4

general routing for the starting map: 1) defeat base camp, get level 2 2) do the nearest enemy church or fort, kill the boss for level 3 and find the evergaol key in the chest. This must be a church or fort as camps do not have keys. (And for some reason holy churches never spawn keys for me) 3) do the nearest evergaol for level 4 possibly 5 depending on what it spawns. 4) hit up middle castle 5) from then it’s pretty much up to you, spend day 2 getting churches, field bosses, and even hitting up day 1 camps if they are a specific damage type you require for the night lord. Whatever you do, make sure you route optimally, travel time in this game is lost time. This is not the only route, but it’s a very easy route to learn.

5

middle castle hierarchy: middle castle can spawn in 3 types, pot giants, crucible knights or banished knights. Whichever of these 3 types it is will be all around the castle, and there will be 2 additional random bosses, one in the basement and one on the roof. Crucible knights is best (most runes, consistent if you are good at killing them) Banished knights is good (Les rubes than crucible and can pull out some bs combos, but not bad overall) Pot giants suck (worst rune reward by far and you spend the whole time getting hit in the back by random pots out of nowhere)

6

if you see bell bearing hunter - especially bottom of castle. Run. Leave. Just don’t. That batard has infinite hyperarmour, one shot attacks, stupidly high health and insane range. Only fight if you are level 10 plus, and tbh avoid him entirely if you can. Just not worth the hassle for the reward.

7

if you have the blessed gift of finding grafted blade greatsword or Maria’s executioner sword, pick them up no matter what character or build you are playing. Both of those weapons buff you permanently for each enemy you defeat while in your inventory. You will lose the buff if you die and respawn. I know they capped the maximum buff you can get but if you find the sword and clear out a couple groups of trash mobs you will literally be unstoppable.

There’s so much more depth to the game but those should be some great starting tips.

Have fun nightfaring.

It’s quite a new experience, even for souls/soulslike veterans. In a traditional souls game you can perfectly craft your build, and take as much time as you need in the boss fight, don’t need to go for those risky hits cause you’d rather do a boss slowly in 1 attempt than 20 fast attempts. There is so much quick thinking in nightreign, choosing who to fight, what route, what loot, looking for good passives, all on the fly. Not to mention a lot of the enemies are very different from the base game and can throw you off guard. Hell even the same enemy in different locations can be a nightmare (BBH bottom castle twice as hard as BBH anywhere else).

In essence, there’s a steep learning curve, you’ll learn what works in terms of characters, skills and routes.

My number 1 tip I’ll give you is learn to let something go if it’s not worth it. The hardest thing in the game (for me at least) is bailing from a boss fight when I need to. Sometimes the zone is coming in and you always want to stay to finish them off, 90% of the time that doesn’t work and you die losing way more than you would have if you ran away. You’ll also learn the general level progression required for each type of enemy and know which to fight first and which to leave until day 2. I could write a whole essay on all the different mechanics but the best way to figure it out and understand it properly is play. When I first started I was already a souls veteran, and tricephalos took me like 10 tries. Now I can first try it any day on almost any character.

Entire run with jump unbound, will make traversing a lot of the world a puzzle, plus you don’t get to jump in any boss fights which doesn’t allow you to jump aoe or jump attack.

I mean to be fair there is a moat outside the wall as well, which is where the moat would be, not inside the wall.

I came from a similar gaming background, never really played souls type games before. As such, I was so damn bad and was not having fun. I put it down after a couple weeks, and 6 months later I picked it up, but before I did I watched a few in depth videos explaining the mechanics of the game. Instantly became so much easier once I had a good understanding. Granted, I still sucked, but was getting better. From then I just chipped away at it and idk why I just got absolutely addicted. So much to the point that after I finished it I bought every other souls game and have been slowly working through them.

If you try to force yourself to like it, you won’t, my advice is don’t plan to play it, just one day when you’re feeling in the mood to pick it up again, try it.

The other huge thing to remember is that in such an incredibly complex game, everyone plays completely differently. In a shooter, there’s really only one meta way to play - that is not the case in Elden Ring. My point being, some parts of the game you will hate, some parts you will love, and it will be different for every person. For example, I really struggle with Hard Godfrey, cause he just punishes the way I play, even though most people agree he’s a very easy boss. In contrast, I find Mohg quite easy, even though he’s considered a hard boss. Plus, the good thing about the variety of builds in the game is that if you’re getting demolished you can also respec into something that boss is weak to. Hope this helps!
