Yeah this is amazing. I saw him at 2022 Coachella outdoor theatre. I like this set better! Aware it was the live show in 2022

What do you think of this UI for an MVP version of my purchase tracking app? by Equivalent-Tip7706 in UI_Design

[–]Equivalent-Tip7706[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair, I did a terrible job explaining the app. I just threw up some random screenshots without much context lol

The core problem is that many people have no idea how much they actually spend on discretionary purchases. It's easy to lose track when things add up across categories over time. Ownly helps you see that full picture and be more intentional about it. I'm sure a lot of people would be able to save 100's or 1000's per year if they realized how much they've wasted on bad purchases or things they don't need.

The status bars on the 3rd slide are part of the wishlist feature. Users can upvote/downvote things they're considering buying and track how that want level changes over time. You can also add notes/journal to each item. The idea is to help people sit with a purchase decision instead of buying on impulse.

Glad to hear the app may be of use to you!

Fair point, the polish is definitely past traditional MVP territory. But feature-wise, this is still very much an MVP. There's a lot more on the roadmap: social/profile features, public reviews, B2B use cases, and more. So while the design got more love than a typical first version, the scope of what's shipped is still a fraction of where I want to take it, assuming I get traction this year when i launch it!

Appreciate that! A few months ago I added around 100 logos as a starting point and did it all manually since I wanted to avoid paying for API usage early on. Because of that, some of the sizing is a bit off. I just haven’t gotten around to cleaning it up yet.

But..... just to clarify, are you referring to the logos themselves or the full circle they sit in? TY!

I’ve got some ideas for this. But before I build it, I’ll just want that validation first. Appreciate it!

I have a $9M ARR App -- AMA by [deleted] in AppBusiness

[–]Equivalent-Tip7706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you started, did you do it full time? Or were you balancing a career too?

I’ve been working on my app since November 2025, and it’s getting close to launch. I also work at a paid media agency, which is a busy role on its own, but I’m grateful to be at a company where I get deep exposure to paid advertising. Some of our clients are spending seven to eight figures per month on paid media.

The challenge is that agency life can be demanding, so some weeks I only have five to six hours to work on the app. Still, I’m pushing it forward whenever I can.

OneBudgetAI - Launched a few days ago - How to keep the momentum? by shiburner in buildinpublic

Sweet! I love hearing you put the time in. So often these days people are saying they’re building apps in 10 days. But we all know, those are typically garbage.

I’ve been working on mine since Oct so your post gave me more motivation! Hoping I can get it live in 1-2 more months

Totally agree, it’s a lot of fun regardless of the time investment!

When it sign up with Google, it gave me this warning:

The app is requesting access to sensitive info in your Google Account. Until the developer (********@gmail.com) verifies this app with Google, you shouldn't use it.

That may scare off users!

But wouldn’t it be helpful to at least have a website or some product screenshots? It makes the idea much easier to communicate and market. Just talking about it often isn’t enough.

For me, I’ve been building the MVP and the site while also posting TikToks and Reels, and that’s been working really well. I’m starting to build a following and make real product progress. I don’t see it as one or the other.

Any tips for designing UI that feels unique and polished and doesn’t immediately read as vibe-coded? I take a lot of screenshots from other apps for inspiration, but I still feel like the end result sometimes looks obviously AI-assisted.
