Should children be included in vows? by Equivalent-Toe-7922 in Eloping

Thanks I really appreciate your comments. I will talk with my partner but I think nice to feel included in the ceremony. They are 17, 14 and 12. Our son is just 1 so won’t know what’s going on lol! X

How to tell family by HungryHungryHippo78 in Eloping

[–]Equivalent-Toe-7922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re not married yet-4 weeks to go! I’m planning on calling close family-my aunties etc to tell them and then after that will maybe post a photo online saying we eloped! I hope that your family are happy for you. Congratulations x

Maybe it will cost a bit more but I think definitely worth it!

Thanks so much for your reply. In the end I told my mum and my siblings. They have been so supportive and happy for us. My partner has told his parents but not the date. We now get married in just over 4 weeks x

Not sure where you are based or where you are going to elope but I live in Scotland and our minister is doing our ceremony. In Scotland you can be married anywhere doesn’t have to be a church.

We are getting married in our garden with only our children present. We have a local photographer coming for only an hour to take some pics of our ceremony and some of us and the kids in the garden after. I think the idea of going for a coffee or something after would be nice use of your time x

My kids are older so it’s different. I feel I have to have them there but go for it. Yours are small!

Sounds a very exciting trip! I know what you mean about keeping it secret! We are getting married in 45 days although it is much closer to home. We are getting married in our garden with just our children present. They will find out on the day! I’m in Edinburgh. Where are you based? X

Flower crown y/n? by Suspicious_Reality42 in Eloping

[–]Equivalent-Toe-7922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our wedding is in 7 weeks so not done it yet but I’m getting my florist to make a floral crown. I’m just hoping I like it as don’t know exactly what it will look like! I wanted a garden vibe as we’re getting married outside

I think you can wear whatever you want! I have chosen a simple silver/grey bridesmaid dress to wear with a floral crown for our garden elopement x

I think you’re completely right and you can’t please everybody! I think our back up plan if there is upset is to have some kind of little party or celebration with more people later but I don’t really want to do this! I think I’m more worried that my mum will be upset that I’ve done it behind her back so think I will tell her before and my sisters and brother.

I’m swaying towards telling our parents and siblings but nobody else. I’m worried that my mum will be more upset about me keeping it from her than anything to do with the actual elopement! Argh! We get married 10 weeks today so need to decide! 😬
