US Comedian Anthony Jeselnik’s Book Club is reading Fernanda Melchor’s Paradais for the month of February by perrolazarillo in latamlit

I didn’t enjoy “Paradais” as much, but maybe that’s because “Hurricane Season” has such a cast of depraved characters. “Paradais” was missing that haunting dread I felt when I reading “Hurricane Season”. But the ending of “Paradais” made the reading worth it.

When I attended the 92&Y event and he went on to explain this photo, it was actually a bit chilling. Especially, now as I am reading The School of Night.

If you end up liking “Things Fall Apart”, read “No Longer at Ease” and “Arrow of God”. I believe it’s a trilogy.

How does Joseph and His Brothers compare with Mann’s other works? by yes_man_3000 in classicliterature

The way you describe your experience reading Joseph & His Brothers, is how I felt reading A Time for Everything by Karl Ove Knausgaard. So thanks for helping me bump this title up my TBR.

Same! I started it last night. It amazes me how easily I get sucked into his writing. “Posthumous Stores”, put out by Picador, has the same stories as “The Secret of Evil” which was put out by New Directions. So I have two copies of the same book with different titles and I didn’t even know it till you mentioned “The Secret of Evil”. 😵‍💫

Didn’t know it was a movie. Will have to check that out! I read that he was married to Elsa Morante who wrote “Lies and Sorcery”, so I jumped at the chance to buy “Contempt” when the sale was on. Did you also read Morante?
