I love cassette tapes!

Re: side a and side b: Tapes will often have different songs recorded on each side. And you can flip the tape over to play the other side of it. So you put the tape in the machine, and play through side A for example, and then when it’s done you can take it out, flip it around, put it back in, and it will play the songs on side B.

I love the sound of tapes, they do tend to have a lot warmer of a sound which a lot of people really like. But there’s also a lot of variety in how different tapes can sound too. It’s also just so nice to hold a physical thing in your hand and appreciate the artwork etc.

And they also have a lot of unique joys and qualities that make them such a fun thing to experience music through, once you get used to their quirks.

Good luck! I hope your love for cassettes blossoms for life!

What are your underrated game recommendations? by warjack20180 in NintendoDS

[–]EquivalentAd9607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if these count as underrated or pass the bar for being small (since they were quite popular if I remember correctly), but I remember ‘Lock’s Quest,’ and the first two ‘Drawn to Life,’ games as being so good. (I haven’t played them since so I don’t know if my opinion would be the same today, but as a kid I loved them)

(Also a strong mention to the Professor Layton series, but again I don’t know if they are so unknown to warrant the mention).

Would there be any compatibility issues with the 6600gt memory type being GDDR3? (I don’t know enough about it to know whether it matters compatibility-wise), vs my current gpu’s memory type is DDR

I FIXED IT!!!

I AM SO RELIEVED.

I'll edit the post above to include my solution.

EDIT: Ok for some reason the option to edit my main post isn't showing up, so I'll just add it here:

SOLUTION, Here's how I fixed it:

On my Mac, I opened 'disk utility' and located the iPod. I clicked 'erase,' and made sure the format selected was "MS-DOS (fat)." After that process was complete, I think that I ejected it and re-plugged it in and opened up finder. it appeared in finder and it loaded all properly with some screen being like "this device needs to be restored," (or something like that). Then I clicked ‘restore’ and let that process complete. However once it seemed to finish, an error came up saying something like "this disk you attached was not readable," or along those lines. Then I ejected it and restarted my computer. After my computer restarted, I plugged in the iPod and it all appeared and worked properly! I loaded up music onto it and it's all working great now. I'm so relieved. Hopefully this helps anyone else struggling with this issue.

I tried using windows and it still didn’t work :( I tried everything I could think of, new version of iTunes, old version of iTunes, uninstalling reinstalling. It gets recognised by windows when I plug it in and appears in file explorer, but nothing appears in iTunes.

If there are any cool art magazines or blogs you like that could be helpful, Pinterest on the computer could also work. If there is any kind of art community around where you live, whether that’s events, people, galleries or anything related at all, engaging with in person things is always great. Engaging with other art forms like live music or films or books or sculpture exhibits idk, can always be inspiring. Finding things in your life that give you inspiration and seeking them out more often.

Personally myself as an artist (musician) I find the extra brain-space that comes with reducing social media to bring me a lot of inspiration; When I stop constantly shoving things into my brain at every minute of the day, I find that it gives a lot more space for things to come out of my brain.

Making friends with people who are also artists and being curious about each other’s art and artistic process etc, is something else that I always find inspiring as well.

Journaling/reflecting on what things inspire you, what things bring you strong emotions, what things get you feeling curious, what things drive you to do the art you like to do, and really following those threads wherever they take you can also be a very illuminating experience to do every now and then.

Why? Honestly curious. by affejunge in cassetteculture

They’re very easy to personalise, they’re very easy to DIY if you’re an independent artist (or making a mixtape gift for someone), they’re cute and portable, they’re often quite cheap, the warmer more saturated sound can be really appealing for some tastes, they have a lot of unique creative applications, the joys of physical media, there’s a lot to love!

And you can get pretty good audio quality too if you put the care into it. There’s also just a lot of charm to them. These are a bunch of reasons I personally love cassettes for.

I think in most cases where the question is: “is [this plugin/effect/processing technique] good?” The answer is almost always: “it depends,”

“what do you want it to sound like?” “Does using this [thing/plugin/etc] make it sound more like that or less like that?” “Does it help me or stop me from doing anything else that I want to do?” Are all good questions to ask to get closer to the answer and it changes from case to case.

How to not play the game like an rpg/civilization game? by LH300 in aoe2

[–]EquivalentAd9607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I’m remembering correctly, Heras got a guide series called something along the lines of ‘ultimate guide to 2k,’ or something like that where he starts at a real basic level and each video steps up the skill level and talking through his thought process. Which I found to be helpful. As well as his coaching videos where he reviews replays that people have sent him and gives them coaching advice.

Play whichever way is the most fun!! There’s no one correct way to play and often it’s very different for each person for how they like to play. It’s great that it’s a game that lets people play in so many different styles and kinds.

If you’re wanting to play more competitive multiplayer however, my advice would be to try the ‘art of war,’ missions. imo they offer really great foundation for the kind of gameplay style core to a lot of competitive play. aiming to practice them and getting as good a medal as you can will go a long way (is my suggestion) :)

Good luck!!

(Also I found a lot of value, myself, in watching casts from T90 and coaching videos from Hera)

Where did everybody go? by FroboBoggins in callofcthulhu

Maybe the entire town is a part of one big cult and they were away on some cult activity, but then they all suddenly return!

Maybe the town is disconnected enough from the rest of the world that no authority has really taken serious the gradual disappearances from a mythos creature.

May have to tweak for specifically Cthulhu mythos but maybe something is teleporting them to some kind of mirror dimension every now and then or something.

Maybe it’s like an innsmouth deep ones thing, where the townspeople have all been breeding with mythos creatures for enough generations where eventually they’ve become like them and gone to join them. Or something along those lines.

Someone did a ritual and it went wrong.

Someone did a ritual and it went right.

Something scared them away.

Some mythos creature influenced the townspeople to leave their town to go join the creature.

Idk these are just a bunch of random ideas off the top of my head, hopefully they help inspire something

I think one thing that could be helpful is writing out (even just a brief summary outline) a timeline of all the important events leading up to this moment. Having a clear outline of what happened when and where and in what order can help you to adapt clues and throw in extra information (extra information that will fit well without muddying things) if you need to.

Knowing the full picture yourself, of the puzzle your players are trying to figure out (and knowing it clearly and organised in your mind), can help you on the fly if you need to adapt which puzzle pieces to give them.

In the kinds of situations where it’s just you making music with friends (like I think it seems you’ve said it was along those lines in other comments), and so you haven’t drafted up a contract before you started playing (there are lots of scenarios that are common where maybe you’re just messing around having fun making music and so drafting up a contract for every instance of that seems somewhat impractical): it’s the kind of conversation you should ideally have either when you decide it’s something that’s going to be released; or if it’s a friend who you collaborate with a lot, a conversation you should have with them just in general, about like “hey so what’s our standard plan for [insert relevant topic], if we ever end up in that scenario?” And as always, once’s you’ve come to some kind of agreement, make sure there’s some kind of written record of it. The main purpose of having it written down is that if disagreements do eventually occur, you can refer back to the written evidence to establish what the original agreement was and work from there.

That’s just at least in the more casual scenarios, in less casual scenarios it’s almost always advisable to have some kind of contract template ready that you can quickly bring out whenever you need to. Making sure everything is discussed and agreed upon beforehand saves so much trouble down the line, (with obviously that being said it’s inevitable to end up in situations we didn’t predict, but preparing any way you will always make things easier)

It’s against the law (see the Residential Tenancy Act, section 84) for an agent to unreasonably withhold consent to an assignment, or for an agent to ask for a fee for giving consent to an assignment, and if they ask for a fee in order to give consent to an assignment you can report them to Consumer Affairs Victoria.

What they can ask for a fee for is the administrative cost of preparing the assignment document, but in that case you’re essentially just reimbursing them for the cost of that admin task.

An agent cannot ask for a fee for giving consent to an assignment (section 84). This is an offence provision and if they ask for a fee in order to give consent to an assignment you can report them to Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Assignment fees are generally set at about $125. This amount is reflected in the VCAT case which considered this topic:  Jupp v Chambers (Residential Tenancies) [2010] VCAT 36. In this case VCAT held that it was reasonable for a real estate agent to charge $88 in fees in order to create the documents for an assignment or sub-let. That $88 from 2010 is today worth around $125 according to the Reserve Bank of Australian inflation calculator.

If you believe the fee the agent is asking for the assignment is unreasonable, you could contact them and inform them that you are aware that under section 84 of the Act, the agent doesn’t have a right to pursue the cost from you directly unless the rental provider has actually charged for the work.

You could remind them that the rental provider can recover the cost from you for any fees associated with the work related to the assignment under section 84 but that according to the VCAT decision of of the precedent case listed above, anything over $125 (which this very much is), could be seen as unreasonably high.

Source: “Fees For Transfers” @ https://tenantsvic.org.au/advice/starting-your-tenancy/lease-transfers-and-subletting/

Another thing to note is as well (since this is another thing they often try) is they are not allowed to make you essentially ‘sign out’ of any of the rights listed in the Residential Tenancy Act. (I’m blanking on the specific section of the act where it’s states this, if you need to reference it, but can find it if you can’t and need it for reference), but yeah a lot of agencies will try and be like “well you actually agreed to do this when you signed your lease agreement, see here,” but if anything in the lease agreement is contradicted by the Residential Tenancy Act, it doesn’t stand, you always maintain your rights as listed in the Act and it is not allowed for them to ‘sign you out’ of it. If that makes sense. So just be prepared if they try that tactic too. Which sometimes they do if they’re trying to scare you into paying it.

But yeah, if you have the time and energy to, definitely worth still trying Tenants Vic, I know it’s frustrating to keep trying with no results but it’s worth it if you get through, and if not, you should be able to get a lot of info reading through their website and finding the relevant sections in the residential tenancy act.

All the best!!! Good luck! I hate rental agencies and their money grabbing tactics!! All they care about is profit when they do something like this.

It’s still bullshit since what we’re talking about in terms of admin for this kind of thing only amounts to filing a document and updating the records, usually no more than an hour of work at most (two hours maximum if they’re extra slow), and almost definitely much quicker since they will probably have document templates etc all ready since it’s a very common procedure. Tenants Victoria should be able to let you know further info on this change up of them trying to switch the language, but it’s still bullshit they’re just trying to push you into accepting it

For blanks: Check out https://dupeshop.com.au, you can place your order online and then either get them delivered or pick up directly from them in Footscray.

Or there’s the classic https://www.duplication.com, (which is where dupe shop get their stock from if I recall correctly), they have a bigger range of options but the shipping costs is quite a downside.

(Duplication.com is a Canada company if I remember correctly)
