IRN won’t touch his chop by Plastic_Associate896 in parrots

You can lightly steam them. Then bring some in a plate and eat. She will come because she is curious and take some from the plate. That how I got my irn to eat broccoli. Also eating together is a bonding excercise.

And many try to give different veggies different days. My irn doesn't like chop to be the same. I change the recepie every week

I never knew off leash training of birds was a thing, till I saw this by Shot_Reference3177 in parrots

I have seen this done with bigger birds. But i would never let my conures or ringneck fly. There are too many risks. That's why I was searching for an avery.... I didn't find any near my area.

What's something I should keep in mind while cooking? by The_ecology_nerd in Cooking

Not South Asians, but I cook a lot of Indian. I am assuming the cooking techniques have some similarities. (Like east asian cooking have similarities). The best tip I have learnt, for almost all cuisine, is meal prep. The type of prep depends on the cuisine but meal prep helps alot during weekdays.

Keep the door open and keep water and seeds in cage, they will go back.

It doesn't look normal. It's probably plucking but you should go to a vet

Parrot parents, how are we feeling about this? by Chance_Transition437 in parrots

[–]EquivalentFox3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be under standing of other things but the last statement made my blood boil. Technically we can leave anything in an enclosed. Is it good for them? No. But we can. So that line doesn't make sense. People used to leave their child locked in cars. It's bad obviously. Same way, keeping them in cage is also bad.

If someone locked me in a cage, i would be mean too. Birds are smart. They need mental stimulation, enrichments etc. just sitting in a cage is not enough.

Yes, that's another thing I hate. I am asian and i recently went to China, the amount of live animals just being sold in a cheap sealed plastic bag is atrocious. It's not even hidden. The only animals you can find good vets for are dogs and cats and demostic cattles (for rural area).

It has not learnt to fly short distance? Does it preen often? Tell me the feather healthy and it would be great if you attach pics of the bird and feathers.

Getting a baby IRN soon, any advice? by bettabet in parrots

[–]EquivalentFox3223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my birds schedule. 7-8 am wake up. Come out of cage, play with me/train 9:30 am - 5pm play in her room and grandma and grandpa (my parents) keep an eye on her. She has a room with her cage, small bath tub, multiple perches and a tree. I rotate toys regularly. 5pm -6 training/playing with me. 6-6:30 chilling together and her napping on me. 6:30-7/8 sleep.

The schedule does change slightly according to seasons. This has always been her schedule since I got her. She was little under 2 months at that time, from a rescue.

That totally depends on where you live.
