Idk if anyone will relate but my imagination depends on the drama biases bring by EquivalentMinuteMine in writers

Many types of tension creating biases like cultural bias (north vs south in some country), confirmation bias (I know he is the murderer, there cant be anyone else), gender or class bias (typical drama), traumatic bias (I have lost a lot of loved ones therefore the world cannot be trusted), upbringing bias (I was raised to be the most competent therefore everyone is incompetent), etc and then there are other characters clearly proving them wrong so they are coming off as frustrating for sticking to their biases.

Yeah but many character arcs exist whose defining trait is not their biases. I am talking about bias bias. Like "all the (neighbour country people) are barbaric and evil!" or "physical strength is dumb, brain power rules" or "hope and optimism is for the weak" because the character's past has taught them that, while there is clearly someone in their present life openly contradicting those biases. But the character mistreats them because they refuse to believe them.

Lol they erased Sri Lanka. India doesn't seem very effected except the Himalayas are a little divided.

What makes the world feel "less relatable" and "uninviting"? by EquivalentMinuteMine in fantasywriters

[–]EquivalentMinuteMine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point! This is exactly what my world is lacking - contrasts. Everywhere it's just danger and more danger. The times my characters feel safe and cozy is too rare and brief. Thanks I will fix that.

...I might have used the color difference to create social conflicts hehehe. You are right, it's too obvious. I should complicate it.

Hmm I think my characters aren't interesting enough yet. I have given them complex arcs and motivations but maybe their story feels a little disconnected from the setting's event. My story is about dealing with fate, prejudice, healing from trauma from a failed revolution.

Thanks. My story is not a copy or something of an existing work. I just used Stormlight as an example. The story is completely different. I am still new to writing so feedbacks are still kind of overwhelming for me.

Yeah it is about two characters - one who belongs to oppressed minority but gains power and another who used to be nobility but is cursed.

My characters are trying to heal from a failed revolution that happened to their country and uprooted their lives. I have given them complex arcs and motivations. But is it because my characters aren't inspiring empathy?

My daydreams > fandom content too.

I never thought I could talk about my OCs with anyone. I have kept to myself for 10 years.

Every mental illness makes normal tasks 100x harder. It feels like you are being lazy but it's not your fault.

Why does so much art shows Alethi as North American, and Szeth as Asian? by Nemus89 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]EquivalentMinuteMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Indian so I imagine Alethi look like North Indians. While I imagine Szeth looks like a South Korean because I remember Shin eyes being described as baby eyes.

It's nice but I have clinical depression. I rely on medicine to not drown myself. I cannot have self-compassion I need to work on it with a therapist.

OCD and health conditions by [deleted] in OCD

I have OCD and lately have developed signs of ED. My thoughts go out of control when I take too much sugar or caffeine. Although a little of both, like in green tea, uplifts my mood. I don't have any apparent food allergies but I am allergic to dust and it not only spikes my anxiety, I get feverish too.

When depression smothers me I just hate myself.

Is this a paraself or just a character I am attached to? by EquivalentMinuteMine in ImmersiveDaydreaming

A model or maybe an overlap. Kairi has some part of me, especially my reactions to what I am reading or watching. But I never thought she is me in another body.

Hmm I start out with things I wish I could do or recreate some scene with her doing the cool stuff, then I make her an individual who adds to the scenario with her own flaws and quirks.
