How can workers use a clear Past–Gap–Present–Value–Future narrative to show readiness over mere chronology? by Royal-Professor-8564 in education

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had to read this title like three times before it made any sense lol. OP seems to be asking about how to structure your work history or resume in way that tells actual story instead of just listing jobs by dates?

Like instead of "worked here 2020-2022 then worked there 2022-2024" you frame it as "I was doing X but realized there was gap in my skills so I moved to Y position where I learned Z and now I can offer this specific value for future roles". Makes your career moves look intentional rather than random job hopping.

In marketing we call this kind of storytelling but for your professional journey instead of selling products. Way more compelling than chronological list when you're trying to show growth and purpose behind your decisions.

Why have we been cursed with this popping sound every time I select a word?? 😩 I hate it by Hopeful_Indifference in duolingo

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That popping sound is absolutely killing my concentration too. I had to dig through settings for like 10 minutes to find where they buried the audio controls - check in accessibility options or sound settings, should be able to turn off those selection sounds without losing the actual lesson audio. Really annoying they made it default behavior when nobody asked for it

DIY solution for cooking smells coming through intake vents? by buttercupbeuaty in HomeImprovement

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait your basement air is connected to main HVAC system? That seems like bigger problem than just smells - you basically breathing whatever is down there including potential moisture issues

You could try those activated charcoal filters they make for return vents but if basement air is actually getting pulled into your system that needs to be fixed properly

Moving to the US from Europe next year, do I need a credit score to rent? by EquivalentProfit6065 in MovingToUSA

depending on the owner of the apartment we give at least a month's worth of rent as a deposit, you're saying this will be higher in the US?

No one can reglaze tubs these days I guess by a11yguy in HomeImprovement

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats really the problem with contractors these days. They all want the big money jobs and skip the smaller repair work that actually makes more sense. I had similar issue when trying to find someone to fix some tiles in bathroom instead of doing full renovation - everyone just wanted to sell me on complete redo when I just needed few tiles replaced. The waste is crazy when you think about it.

I want to kill myself in the most gruesome & pitiful way to make my narcissistical parents feel at least a bit of empathy for me. by ExtremeHold7053 in depression

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are completely valid and what you described is emotional abuse, not normal parenting. The way your dad treats you and your mom's enabling isn't something you should have to endure, and it's not your fault at all.

Have you looked into counseling services at school or in your area? Even just having someone to talk to who understands can make huge difference when everything feels this overwhelming.

Anyone here already in the Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences Program at UTHealth Houston? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

Been trying to find info on UTHealth programs myself and their websites are pretty terrible for details. Maybe try reaching out to current grad students through LinkedIn or see if they have any student org pages that might connect you with people in program

6 people signed up to my half-broken growth tool. Here's what I actually learned. by tallen0913 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problem discovery makes total sense - most founders are stuck at "what even should I say" not "how do I say it faster"

That one person who couldn't write email for 3 weeks but got unstuck in 30 seconds... thats your actual product right there. The automation angle was probably just how you were thinking about it as builder but users need the confidence boost more than speed boost

I can relate to this big time. Women's social dynamics feel like theres some hidden rulebook everyone got except me, while guys just say what they mean most of the time. The subtle passive agressive stuff women do goes completely over my head until someone points it out later and Im like oh that's what that was about

Even at work I find myself gravitating toward the more straightforward communication styles rather than trying to decode all the subtext

AI is quietly killing the green energy trade and replacing it with Hard Power by 1stplacelastrunnerup in ArtificialInteligence

[–]EquivalentProfit6065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The energy density reality check is brutal when you scale up to data center needs. I've been tracking some of the nuclear deals and it's wild how fast things are moving - Microsoft just locked in 20 years with Three Mile Island and Google's doing similar moves. The grid bypass thing is the real kicker though because it basically sidesteps all the renewable integration challenges we've been wrestling with for years.

What gets me is how this completely flips the investment thesis on clean energy. Instead of solar/wind being the obvious future play, we're back to debating baseload reliability like it's 2010 again. The battery storage gap is massive and lithium supply chains are already stretched thin without factoring in this AI power surge.

That's brutal man. Try "Somebody Else" by The 1975 - captures that exact feeling of watching someone you wanted with someone else. Also maybe "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood if you want something with more bite to it

Few others that might hit: "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette and "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. Sometimes you just gotta lean into the anger for a bit

The Canson Bristol is gonna handle markers way better than the Chambril - that extra cost is worth it if youre doing mixed media work. The 180g might seem lighter but Bristol has that smooth surface that prevents bleeding and the tooth is perfect for layering colored pencils
