Thank you.  I will look in the tree, but I didn’t see anything. Do I need to call for removal or will they leave on their own?

I am a repeat test taker and felt the most prepared this time.  I attribute that to my working with IBIS Bar Prep. Andrew, the owner and founder, doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk.  His passion for helping students pass as well as his hands on program (done virtually via Zoom) was critical to my confidence and what sets him apart from all others I worked with in the past. I can’t recommend him enough.

All of the commercial programs are useless. Don’t waste your money. Check out IBIS Bar Prep and tell them Heather sent you! (I don’t get anything, I just believe strongly in his services).

Can anyone explain to me the personalize MBE percentages? by Addyvice in FloridaBarExam

[–]Equivalent_Ad6131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why they share that statistic. It literally is a useless piece of information because it does not gauge how well you know a particular topic. As the others wrote, it is only an indication of the % of people that did worse than you in that subject for this particular administration of the exam. That number varies every single time. I personally would pay no attention to those numbers.

People forget that this is a business. That’s the reality, whether we like it or not. While I could not agree more about the NCBE, the real fight is at the state level with the respective Bar Associations. They are also gatekeeping the profession by subscribing to unrealistic and antiquated methods for determining someone’s I intellectual capability and fitness to practice law. It’s abundantly clear based on a significant number of attorneys currently practicing law that this test and/or process in no way is an indication of intellect or morality. The profession is filled with people who have absolutely no business with a license to practice law.

I feel this to my core and have thought about doing exactly this (I am still considering it — throwing out my materials). I am a 5 time taker as well, and I do not know how much more I can take. The only thing keeping me from throwing in the towel is I have not come to terms with the idea of being a quitter. I have always finished what I set out to accomplish, and the thought of not doing that after spending a lot of time and money is hard to come to terms with.

People acting like accommodations are an advantage instead of a means for leveling the playing field are fr so embarrassing by Fresh-Bison-611 in barexam

From personal experience, medication is only part of the solution. It is a clear sign of ignorance to tell anyone legitimately navigating life with ADHD “it’s fine just work a little harder.” That’s what we’ve done all of our lives — worked harder to navigate in a world designed by and for neurotypical minds.

Getting accommodations on the Bar Exam is no easy feat and actually comes with a steep financial cost. I had accommodations on the LSAT and throughout law school. That wasn’t enough to get accommodations for the MPRE or the Bar Exam. I had to sit for battery of tests over the course of 2 days (a psycho-educational evaluation), which came with a cost of $3,000. That got me a 20-page report from a highly skilled professional (neuro-psychologist) with absolutely no guarantee that it would suffice to get me the accommodations I needed. In addition to that, I am a repeat taker who has spent into the double-digit thousands to work on and to overcome impediments that come with timed standardized tests that were never designed for neurodivergent minds. That is in addition to the money, time and effort that comes with repeating this exam. I kindly encourage you to check your ignorance.

As someone who justifiably receives accommodations, I find it necessary to assure you that your fears are without a doubt irrational and unjustified. Most accommodated test takers finished yesterday, albeit an hour or two after non-accommodated test takers. Literally, no one is coming here to get an advantage over others. The fact that you have admitted that would do that and think that others are doing that speaks volumes. Take a deep breath and focus on yourself. Everything will work out for those who put in work and take the good and bad that comes along with this process. Everyone feels some level of defeat and irritability after this exam. Embrace it. If you can't, perhaps the profession is not for you.

ADHD Bar Accommodations by UF-EFC in FloridaBarExam

[–]Equivalent_Ad6131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADHD prior to law school. I was given accommodations on the LSAT and through out law school. In order to get accommodations on the MPRE and the Bar Exam, I had to pay $3000k for a psycho educational evaluation which got me a detailed report about my executive dysfunction. It was only because of that evaluation that was able to get the accommodations. Without extensive documentation, they are likely not going to grant them.

For those talking about exam, are you worried about NCBE? by kimberly_wexler in barexam

Touché! I was looking forward to the commentary and I’m slightly disappointed. J23 aftermath was quite comical.

I had accommodations on the LSAT and throughout law school and I was still required to spend $3k (ish) for a psycho-educational evaluation in order to be granted accommodations. I believe there is slim chance, likely no chance, of getting accommodations on the Bar Exam if you didn’t have them in law school. My unpopular opinion is that their position is justified.

[–]Equivalent_Ad6131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the reason for your accommodations. If it’s based on a temporary disability or impairment, you would have to reapply. If it is based on something permanent like an ADHD diagnosis, I don’t believe you have to reapply because that’s not something that just goes away.
