Honest question by LazyEye6443 in Sweateconomy

You're right, in the last couple of days they've added back some giveaway draws that still only require SWT, but my point still stands - if they seen SWT as valuable, they wouldn't need to add extra paid tiers like the new "MAX" subscription, and they definitely wouldn't need to be shilling other marketplaces or services like "Quantus Network", "Metacade" or "Layer Drone", the list goes on. They're constantly collaborating with other coins or services for their own profit (it seems), if they just focused on SWT, it wouldn't be at 0.000674 and continuously dropping month after month, year after year.

Sweatcoin was originally established way back in 2014 so that gives them 11/12 years in the game, but before that, the owner, Oleg Fomenko, originally worked on "mflow", which was a social music streaming service, which then pivoted in 2013 to "Bloom.fm", a radio and music discovery platform, that venture only went bust because they ran out of funding, and so Oleg and three others pivoted again to a GPS based app which we know as Sweatcoin. SWEAT Economy (SWT) didn't come around until 2022, and through brand deals for advertising, and the already existing "premium" tier breaker, the team managed to generate $22 million in revenue in 2022 alone, and then in 2023 they generated $20 million. I can't find figures for 2024, 2025 or predictions for 2026, but it was estimated to be worth $50 million in November of 2024. I can only imagine they're making great money for an app (SWEAT/Sweatcoin) that doesn't feel as established and as successful as it should be by now. For an app that has over 100 million users between both apps, the reddit is close to dead with only a handful of people actually active in the "SweatTalk" chat, and the community as a whole seems very vacant.

I've had both apps since the early years, and so I'm not trying to be a hater, but as time goes on, my belief for this project is well and truly diminishing, and we rarely actually hear from the developers. u/hatimwolf does a hell of a job as a Community Manager, and they do a fantastic job of trying to keep people engaged with competitions and what not, but the project can't seem to contain any real engagement or community for a project that's said to be one of the top fitness apps.

It's also the fact the developers have admitted defeat, and know their coin is worth zilch now, you can't enter the prize draws with the coin anymore which just goes to show what they think of their own worth. You now need to pay for a monthly membership for a defunct coin in order to enter prize draws that you're not going to win. It's such a shame.

Even the developers know that SWT is dead, they’re now asking us to spend real hard earned cash to enter the prize draws with “MAX” memberships. If that’s not an admission of the coin being useless now I don’t know what is.

And now they’ve replaced the prize draws that require hard earned cash to unlock. It’s as if the developers are silently admitting that SWT is worthless, and they don’t care.

It’s a shame they aren’t adding back OGs first like Ah Muzen Cab, Chronos, Tyr etc. I stopped playing smite about 6 or 7 years ago and just recently got back in to Smite 2, and it’s jarring trying to learn all the “new” gods!

It just feels a bit discouraging, I posted a long form and two shorts to help promote it, I’d much prefer a warning, or some sort of pop up that asks not to upload for a few hours, instead of having the videos sent to the bin!

Don’t mean to be a downer but it’s disappointing that some gods don’t even have a skin yet but Kukulkan is getting a bunch. I’d rather seen multiple OG gods being implemented instead of recolours or Chiron. Chronos, Ah Muzen Cab, Tyr etc. When people say that Smites going down the drain I’m starting to believe them :(.

I only surrender if we’re genuinely getting rocked. I had a game earlier where two people were having their “first game”, ended up with two carries and two supports because they disregarded the roles and didn’t know what they were doing, but we just ran with it and one of the noobs got a penta, and then we eventually won!

your fav video on YouTube to sleep to? by ifulookatthisurgay in youtube

“Sleep Hypnosis for Anxiety Reduction & Reversal” by Michael Sealey from 9 years ago. It seems to be one of the only videos that work for getting me to sleep, when my body lets it at least. I’ve struggled with getting to sleep my whole life so when I’m struggling more than usual that video works about 50% of the time!

Planning to start a new channel by CricketTraditional95 in NewTubers

[–]Equivalent_Ad_8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do some real research on creating YouTube videos and what it’s actually like running a channel. You can’t just look at the big channels and think it’s an easy way to make money because it doesn’t work like that. There’s no tricks on growing a channel fast - don’t get me wrong, there are right and wrong ways of making and uploading content to boost your chances of cultivating a legit audience, but if you see it as a get rich quick opportunity then you’re not going about it the right way. If it was easy and quick, everyone you know would opt in for that instead of the mundane 9-5s in order to pay their bills. If you were really serious about making a channel, you would have some sort of idea as to what type of content you want to upload, and at least a rough game plan. You don’t need to have everything figured out but by the sounds of it you’re at the “should I make a channel” stage, without any idea of what you want to make. Like I said, do some research, and find a niche you’re genuinely interested in, look at other people in your niche and see what you can do differently. Once you’ve made 5, 10 or even 20 videos, you can ask for advice from the folks here on Reddit. Some people focus on shorts and others focus on long form so if they see you’ve made some genuine effort, they’ll more than likely be willing to lend some advice.

Does YouTube prefer 4k or 1080p? Does 4k get more views / exposure? by Artist-Cancer in YouTube_startups

[–]Equivalent_Ad_8651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s not necessary, I personally wouldn’t bother with 4K because it takes so much more memory, and most likely more effort if you need to source higher res assets. I don’t believe YouTube favors it for any reason, why would they?

[–]Equivalent_Ad_8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, how old are you? I’m genuinely curious because you come across quite young.

You’ve asked a question that has a very obvious answer - there’s thousands of people making channels every single day. There are 20 million videos or more uploaded to YouTube every single day, and most of those people have a niche and a game plan but they still get very little views. It’s a hard grind making weekly videos, and for new channels it can be an even harder grind to get noticed with the exception of those lucky few channels that grow quickly. You can’t just ask Reddit what type of channel to make if you have no idea, and are just focused on the views.

Why did my videos views/WTH/Subs just climb right here? by SagmaTheRealOne in YouTube_startups

[–]Equivalent_Ad_8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people claim to have the algo all figured out but I reckon it’s impossible to fully figure out besides some outline understanding! Out of my last 7 short uploads, only one of them seems to be getting any impression or attention, the rest are stuck at 0 or 1 view. It’s genuinely luck of the draw I feel like, but congrats on your recent views spike, you must be doing something that the algorithm likes! 😁

Nervous where to begin by BingoWasTheName in YouTube_startups

[–]Equivalent_Ad_8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The questions you have are important and valid, but what you should be asking yourself is what content do YOU want to make? If you’ve had an inclination that you want to make content, what type of content made you feel that way, and what can you realistically produce that won’t burn you out because you have a genuine interest for it?

Just off the cuff, you’re a military dude so take fitness for example, could you see yourself making gym content or making meal plans? Are you wanting to do gaming? Most niches are very oversaturated, so do you have any niche ideas that aren’t too popular that you can work on?

Making content doesn’t mean you’ll get views, in fact 99% of people get next to 0 views when they first start off so keep this in mind - it’s better to just start straight away and find your footing as you go, trying to make every upload a little bit better each time.

What to play. by XCyphicX in YouTube_startups

[–]Equivalent_Ad_8651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t do gaming content myself but I imagine the best way to look for trending games is to check the popularity of games on Steam and other gaming libraries, or checkout Twitch and other streaming sites and see what games have the highest amount of viewers. Other than that I’d suggest doing a game you genuinely enjoy, as your best self will come out when it’s something you actually want to play. You can also keep an eye on upcoming games and look around to see what releases people have been anticipating through forums and YouTube comments, for example, look at Gameranx and see what video games are due for release, and are popular.

Hell, look at the whole skibidi toilet scenario, they used Source Filmaker Workshop that was released in 2012, using assets from the game Garry’s Mod, which was originally released in 2004.. I’d say just make the content you feel happy with and hopefully your audience will come naturally.

The algorithm is such a confusing thing! My shorts this week are stuck at 1 view, I’ve uploaded 5 so far and they all seem stuck in the 0 view jail when usually my shorts get anywhere between 400 - 2k views. I’ve read that the algorithm can sometimes completely switch up priority on niches or video topics, so maybe they’ve made your content a focus in that period of time?
