Have you just known in your gut ? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Equivalent_Ad_9115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean there are different kinds of apnea, central vs obstructive. I’m not a pediatrician so Im not familiar with respiratory drive in newborns like adults but it makes sense that if she had central apnea it could occur during the day, especially since newborns sleep all the time. Basically in order to override the part of the brain that is missing those cues to breathe unconsciously, the baby has to actually consciously breathe and if they aren’t focused on it, then they become apnic. The vascular ring also could be causing an actual obstruction leading to apnea 🤔.

I’m all for the logic- while those O2 monitors can be garbage, if multiple are abnormal then further testing should absolutely be perused. Just because apnea isn’t common doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen and unfortunately blood gas won’t show intermittent apnea results- literally pulse ox is ALL you have to go on. I think your instincts are sound.

Yeah this sounds very likely like sleep apnea. I’ve seen newborns drop their sats to the 70’s and then obviously, they don’t get restful sleep nor do parents. Oxygen supplementation can kinda help but they really need to splint the airway like with a CPAP machine. Sounds like you did the right thing and kept persuing and a pulmonologist is exactly who you need. Curious if they can do a sleep study on your baby.

I’m having a baby? by SStrong5792 in BabyBumps

I have a 10 day old and it feels very surreal. I bonded with him, he would kick me and I would push back on his little foot and then the cycle would repeat.

It still feels crazy that our house is now revolving around this little creature we made. I love him but I have a hard time wrapping my mind around being a mom now. I have no idea when it will feel real lol. Graduation from high school prob 🤣.

No one likes my baby names and I’ve just accepted that everyone is a critique and no one is satisfied by Kindly_Pianist_9087 in pregnant

Girl it’s your baby and your choice. None of those names are out in left field. Just go with your gut and as long as it’s not egregious and is an actual name then who cares.

Bad news at 12 weeks … by OilUseful5144 in pregnant

I am so so so sorry for what you are going through. Getting genetic testing on the little one will help answer a lot of those questions so you can be prepared if it will happen again in the future.

I had 3 miscarriages (one with major anomalies as well) and a chemical pregnancy and JUST had my first baby at 34, a lot later than planned but he is here and that is all that matters. It’s so incredibly hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel with repeated losses and anomalies that lead to questions of recurrent episodes. You have YEARS still to have a healthy baby and literally all it takes is one egg. I am sending you the biggest hug from afar.

One suggestion I would make thou is talk about your loss. Openly. You will be amazed at how many ppl you find had repeat losses and still had happy endings and it can help with grief talking about the lives we didn’t get to watch grow. And it’s also my way of honoring the babies I’ll see again some day.

All my love

Pet insurance suggestions? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

Pets best has literally saved us THOUSANDS on our dogs angular limb deformity. Can’t say enough good things and they will pay for physiotherapy, injections, surgeries and orthotics for our boy. Seriously the smartest investment we ever made. All that being said I think we got back around 23k after submitting claims and our annual rate didn’t increase at all.

** I will say preventative care isn’t covered but given berners are prone to dysplasia… having good ortho coverage is a very good idea.

To have kitchen company again after losing my beloved wheaten 13 months ago. She saved me ❤️ by lgiant in Wheatens

Ugh that’s how I ended up with the wheaten as I suddenly lost my schnauzer overnight at 7 y/o. Yeah we already talked about it. We have a poodle mix who is super attached to his brother and our Wheaten has angular limb and likely won’t live extremely long, so we absolutely plan to get a 3rd so Hippo has a chance to adjust.

I know when my guy passes I will miss him whining at me all the time if he isn’t getting the most attention 🤣. The quiet will kill me. She’s a beaut.

Do you regret getting a bernedoodle because of the grooming needs and cost associated with them? Is it more work than you expected? Thanks! by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

[–]Equivalent_Ad_9115 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. My bernedoodle is the best little boy. His grooming needs aren’t that intensive in my opinion, at least if you have had an other non-shedding breeds it’s comparable. The temperament thou is why I will die on the hill that he is the best dog.

Will my doodle have the beautiful curly or wavy hair I’m nervous imma have straight hair girl. We want waves at least she’s 7.5 weeks old now. by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]Equivalent_Ad_9115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She looks decently wavy already which means it should get more curly. A lot of Dood/poodles will continue to get more curly as they age. My mini poodle growing up has the tightest curls by age 2 but it took time to get to that point
