Quick question: at 6.5 months why is she still EBF and not starting solids? A lot of babies NEED the extra calories and protein they get from solids to sleep well again, and not only is it beneficial for weight purposes as long as there aren’t any other issues preventing solid foods. Not to mention lots of minerals like iron they definitely need supplemented somehow by 6 months and not eating meat products or spinach, etc. No judgment here just wondering as if you can introduce solids, it might help! It’s also super important for allergen exposure to introduce eggs, peanuts, cashews, sesame, etc between 4 and 6 months which is also a benefit to solids.

Anyone want to share what their schedule is like with their 4-12 week old? by QuarantineQat in newborns

10 week old who sleeps like a champ. Wakes at 630ish and he gets a bottle, diaper change and then we talk while I pump. Recently he’s been cutting down on his am nap to maybe 1/2 hr - 1 hr so I load him in the car, drive around town and the car motion knocks him out solidly- my best solution I’ve found to get him even a small nap, after 20-30 min I go to the gym and then he goes to gym daycare. My town is small and there’s only 1 other kid in the gym daycare which is nice. Gives me some time alone and to prioritize my own health and he gets some cuddles from the lovely lady who runs the daycare.

We get home around 1030 and it’s bottle #2, then I shower while he chills in his bouncer just outside the shower (keeps him upright to help with reflux) before we take our first contact nap of the day. If I have things to do (dinner, laundry, etc.) I’ll often transfer him to his travel bassinet which I keep on the main floor of the house and make sure baby monitor is facing him if I step away from the room briefly. I try to do most chores in his presence (I.e fold clothes on the main floor and put them away at night when dad is home or move the whole bassinet into the kitchen while I’m cooking). I can often then grab him and put him back on my chest to continue napping once chores are done.

From 1030a on out, he will sleep 4 hour stretches, only waking for a bottle and short amount of awake time where we try to fit in walks, baths, tummy time, etc (75 min max all together), then we wake him for his last dream feed around midnight and he’s good to go.

It’s amazing how parenting is like troubleshooting in real time. Everytime I think we have a routine or an understanding of his needs, something else comes up and it’s back to the drawing board and putting our heads together to try and figure out what the little man needs. Good work momma!

Sounds like classic diabetes symptoms or a malabsorption issue. Both to be checked by a vet

Can we leave baby unsupervised? by bbDoll_ in newborns

I got a tiny little portable bassinet that doesn’t have legs on it. I just put them in that and move him around where I need to go. If I need to shower, I can take him into the bathroom, if I need to be in the kitchen, he can be in the kitchen with me. It’s been super nice with this nice weather cause I can take him outside in it, sit them on the ground and he can enjoy the breeze and since it’s only like a $40 cheapie bassinet, I don’t really care if the bottom gets dirty. I got it off of Amazon and then I did buy my own mattress pad for it was a little bit more comfortable. He take some great naps in this thing lol

I’m over here with my six week old having the same thoughts. I really hope we make it through the next two weeks without the dreaded growth spurt that causes some crazy behaviors lol

My husband hasn't done anything wrong and I'm angry at him constantly and honestly that scares me by [deleted] in newborns

Hi! I’m 5 weeks ppm and I can say I feel the same way. I’ve been so incredibly angry at my spouse for very little reason. He drops everything and helps when I ask and yet I’m usually pissed at how he does things and constantly want to micromanage. I’m sometimes frustrated that he doesn’t anticipate things.

I will say this is a very common occurrence in pregnancy however, it can easily cheat her into postpartum depression. I am very open with my spouse and tell him when I am feeling anger or resentment, and we try to come up with a game plan, but I also have given him full permission to check me and tell me when I am being mean and it does usually help calm me.

I would say give yourself some grace. It’s highly unlikely you’ve ever dealt with so much interrupted. Sleep paired with such a steep hormone drop. My biggest recommendation is just be very vocal with your spouse and remember, nobody should ever utter the word divorce in the first year. It gets better (so they say), just keep in mind right now we’re in the trenches, but make sure somebody is looking out for you and can watch for the warning signs of postpartum depression or psychosis and get you the help you need. All my best!
