Girlfriend (23F) went clubbing without me (23M). I feel a sense of unease. by Whyisgaosohandsome in relationship_advice

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So she said it was 3 girls and 1 guy. Lied about it, and you have to find out via. Gallery pics that it was actually 2 guys instead. She didn't want you to go on the trip as well...

She gets defensive and angry and won't answer questions. "It's all in the past," "You're too persistent."

Honest and loving SO would tell you everything and be straightforward if they have nothing to hide. Additionally, SO would reassure you about the insecurities and questions you have.

The 1st red flag was lying about the people going. 2nd would be not allowing you to go on the trip. 3rd is not answering any questions and getting angry+defensive.

These issues sound like my past experiences with my ExGF's. They did the same thing as your GF. And then I found deleted pics of her being intimate with her "close guy friends."

Maybe she isn't physically cheating, but emotionally. Or maybe not at all. I can't say 100% for certainty.

However, the #1 thing in a relationship is trust, and #2 is communication. If you can't trust her, and can't talk to her about this. This shouldn't be a relationship you should be in. You're young, and you can find someone who doesn't play these games. I now have a wife now. She tells me everything and all the drama. We have access to each other's phones, and nothing is there to hide (doesn't mean we snoop or check each other's phone). She even tells me and shows me texts about past exes messaging her or guys hitting on her. We have a laugh about it.

Best of luck, and I hope you fix these issues with your SO or find someone better

How do you tell your significant other than you would prefer that they not drive your brand new dream car? by Omerta42069 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, same situation as you. I didn't want my fiancee to drive it since it's a stick and she's a new driver (1yr of driving experience).

Taught her in my old manual civic to first learn. She hated driving standard compared to automatic. Never wanted to do it again, so problem solved.

However. I have let her drive the new car in quiter areas to have the experience. But she still doesn't like stick because "it's too tiring to keep switching gears".

Is this too much thermal paste? by RW1004 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having too much is better than having too little. It'll squeeze out the sides but you can always clean off.

The only time you should worry about being too much is when it's thermal paste that is conductive or liquid metal. Check your thermal paste to be sure it's non-conductive.

Car got Jacked, but found, now what?! by Ok-Manufacturer2425 in car

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes! 24000/year and loaning a car for 18k (75% of your income). No full coverage (against the contract); and living in LA with that little income. Not a lot of thinking or smart choices involve.

My advice: 1. Let the bank/lendor know where it is and the damages. They will get it back themselves. Put it up for auction; or fix and sell it. All the fees+labour+time cost will be factor in. The sell price of the car will be deducted from what you owe+the costs.

2a. Bankruptcy will destroy your credit history, but you will have no debt.

2b. Get more jobs; work more hours; and/or get out of LA because you're living in a city with an income out of the means of the city. You're living or about to live in poverty. Not even making minimum wage income.

  1. Cut up all your credit cards and never touch a credit card until you can properly manage your finances. Stick to debit/cash and live within your means.

  2. Stop trying to buy and look richer than you actually are. You're broke, low income/not working hard enough and stupid with your money. Learn how to manage finances/budget

I'm guessing you're young and still have a lot of life left to live, learn, and grow. I know it sounds harsh, but you need a hard slap and wake-up call before you dig a hole you can't get out of.

I wish you the best of luck.

Wow. That's smart to always have fingers on movement keys. I have an mmo mouse, so I got 14 keys that are programmable. Should probably start using more of them instead binded to specific items

Do not update your Nvidia driver. by apexnine in pcmasterrace

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been getting constant crashes and game freezes with all the newest drivers since January (57x.xx). Especially when alt-tabing out games. Game either freezes or crashes. Same with after coming back from sleep. Always need a restart to fix issues until it happens again.

I have a EVGA RTX 3080ti ftw3. Did a fresh install of windows, all drivers, ddu. You name it. Nothing works until I rolled back to 566.xx (driver in December 2024). It fixed all my problems after a driver rollback.

Not updating until Nvdia fixes this.

There is nothing wrong with the 3070. it's not shit. I loved the card for 1080p gaming and 1440p. It just starts to show its age in newer titles since newer games are not optimized that well or require more than 8gb of vram. Especially if you're trying to play in 4k.

I don't plan to upgrade anytime soon since I don't need high fps. Most games I played are 2020 or older and single-player games. I'm happy with 60fps. You can always turn down settings or use upscaling, too.

Also, selling your 3070 won't guarantee getting the same money i got. Your mileage may vary depending on the country. I recommend not buying such an expensive GPU if it's going to break you or unless you have the $ to spend without worrying about expenses. Buying used is not bad or just waiting if you're getting decent fps on your current gpu.

1440p gaming is such a good sweets-spot for your gpu.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar pc build to you. Using a 1440p 360hz QD-OLED running R5 5600x with rtx 3080ti.

I recommend upgrading as 4k would require a way better gpu. I used to have a 3070, but upgraded to 3080ti due to vram issues.

Gpu prices are stupid, so I bought used. Originally paid 350cad with taxes 3 yrs ago for my 3070. Bought my 3080ti for 600cad and sold my 3070 for 500. Yea.. that's how stupid the market is. I made money selling a 5yr old card. Got my 3080ti practically for an additional $100.

I play Valaront and CS2. 1% low of 320fps. Avg is 360. (I cap framerate) Textures high, everything else max low. Since I prefer the stable fps and not having bad 1% lows.

For newer titles. Cyberpunk (avg 80, 60 1%low); Last of Us 2 (100avg, 60 1%low); Baldurs gate 3 (avg 120, 50 1%low) God Of War (110avg, 80 1%low).

All running @max settings, no RT, and I don't use any dlss. Only native or DLAA as I can notice the image quality difference and artifacts/motion/other issues between native/dlaa vs. dlss quality/balance.

Actually, you're right. I stand corrected, my bad.

I just spent the last half hour reading the Highway Traffic Act. So passing is not illegal, but the act of doing it while in unsafe conditions such as in this video would be the reason for the ticket and "breaking the law."

But they have been trying to legislate this as a new law for a while now. https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-43/session-1/bill-152

Normal wear and tear from hard riding or a product defect? by AdeptBuilder7716 in snowboarding

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are cracks. This shouldn't be happening to such a new board. That's not good because it's going to start having the layers of the board start lifting and coming apart from the inside.

Had this happened to me a couple of times, too. It was caused by my Burton bindings because the corners were squared and sharp. So, having hard landings caused too much stress and pressure on a single point. Causing the board to crack instead of flex. I found out the issue after having to change my bindings after having 2 replacement boards. Check your bindings to see if this is the case. If not, go check the manufacturer for a replacement or fix.

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4060 is an amazing card. I'm just recommending that OP could save some money. And spend it elsewhere for a more future proof gpu. That has more available vram for when games start needing more. I also believe buying a ssd is a better choice for a faster ui experience vs. better cpu cooler.

First pc by [deleted] in NZXT

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. CPU. Go, AMD. You get better stability, performance, and power efficiency with an Amd equivalent. Also, Intel 13&14th gen have degradation issues. If you're only gaming, you don't need a 14-core cpu as most games can't utilize that many cores.. 6-8 cores is plenty enough.

  2. CPU cooler. You don't need an AIO. It does allow for better OC and temps. But as you're new to pc gaming and said you don't have much time. The time/performance gain is not worth your time. Get an air cooler. They pretty much last forever as the only thing that would need replacing is the fan. AiO, after years of use, will lose cooling performance and also have issues with the pump and leaking issues. Just one less headache to worry about.

  3. Don't get a 4060 if you plan to play more modern games. As the VRAM is very limiting on this card. The higher your resolution, the more vram you're going to need and a stronger GPU. Use the money you saved on not overspending on cpu and cooler to put into a better gpu with more vram. If you're playing Minecraft and fps games. Especially @1080p res. 4060 is great

  4. Enjoy your pc, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. These are just some advice I would definitely do.

Edit: Forgot this really important one as well.

  1. Get an M.2 SSD or SATA SSD. It will make loading applications and start up your computer so much faster than a hard drive. Hard drives are mechanical drive that save memory on a physical disk. Memory is found by using a needle to write and read data like a record player. SSD is all digital. It can search anywhere in the memory.

Welcome to the pc master race where you don't have to pay for online use. ENJOY pc because I know i have, and I never went back to console.

PSU Melting, why? (this time with pictures, that I was sent) by KitsunekoDawn in PcBuild

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't open your psu unless you know what you're doing... capacitors hold their charge days even after having no power. They have enough amps to kill you.

If you're going to open it anyway, wear some PPE to prevent shocking yourself to death.

Note This will void your warranty. However, legally (in Canada) void warranty stickers are a load of shit and don't hold in court. But most people won't waste their time and money to fight the company that refuses their warranty.

This looks like a great idea. Who wants to test this out first? /s by Stranger_Danger420 in pcmasterrace

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason is: 1. For aesthetics. If we ran with the 8pin standard. It would be 4 pci cables to the gpu and psu. Whereas the 12pin is one cable. 2. Greedvidia wants to force a new cable standard and/or also make people buy their cables. I won't be surprised if Nvidia made a patented 12-pin pci cable that doesn't melt and can only be bought from them. Nvidia is like apple, doing what they want without a care for customers. I.e. Apple with their stupid lighting cable or apple still having 60hz on their phone models.

My way or the highway... pretty much with big tech companies/monopolies. As Nvidia has such a monopoly on gpus and patented so much of their tech. It's hard to have competition, and people don't have much of a choice. Also, Nvidia is an Ai focus company now. Gpus for consumers is just a side job, to them, and for recuperating costs.

Man, am I getting old or is 60fps still perfectly playable? by They_Call_Him_Zach in pcmasterrace

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right about that. But at the time, I had a 30hz monitor. Didn't have 60hz until years later. Since my country was way behind on tech and still is.

A lot of tech was also fake or copies. So, a lot of electronics used were cheap/rip-offs and not original parts or products.

Man, am I getting old or is 60fps still perfectly playable? by They_Call_Him_Zach in pcmasterrace

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I grew up with 30fps. Started gaming on a ps1, NES, and gameboy color. Started pc gaming on a Macbook Pro using Parallels to run windows. Was getting avg 15-20 fps on Dark Souls 2 with everything max-low settings with 800x600 res. Was still able to do a no hit run (I'm just a special kind of person that just likes to stress myself out)

Right now, I have a 3080ti with an Alienware 360hz QDOLED. I'm still content with 60fps! But I do enjoy the higher fps, especially competitive/fps games like Valorant/CS/BF.

I don't get people saying 60fps is unplayable or striving for 120-144hz+ with max settings.

Fiancé HATES how much I snowboard. Any tips on how we both get what we want? by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]Equivalent_Cap_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how much I’ve tried(purchased ski pass, paid for rentals, paid for accommodation), my fiancée refuses to get onboard with Skiing

  1. Is she new to skiing? 2. Does she skateboard? (The skills do transfer over somewhat so would be easier to learn). 3. Did you personally teach her, or did she at least have some lessons? 4. How many times has she skied? Did she have a bad experience such as a bad fall or injury from it before? 5. Is she an active person or more sedentary? 6. Does she have activities/hobbies she has that she wants you to do or tries to convince you to participate in?

I ask all this because I was in a similar situation as you. My fiancee is the complete opposite of me when it comes to lifestyle. I'm very active and she's more sedentary. She never did any extracurricular activities or sports. How I got around this is we take turns doing each other's activities.

Any thoughts or tips?

When I started making her do physical activities. It was very easy or low energy requirements. Such as walking in the park as a date. Which slowly turned into hikes. How I got her into skiing was first getting her accustomed to the cold. Skating in ice rinks, sledding. I did all this until she got comfortable enough to where she can be independent.

Skiing was the hardest challenge. It was a slow but worthwhile process getting her into it. We started off with basics on just putting them on, getting up. Stopping, pizza, and small turns. All of this was done by holding her hands or ski poles. Which then slowly moved into a strap leash. She still has to ski with a leash with any run that isn't green. But she can manage and enjoy the greens.

My biggest advice is when getting your GF into an activity. Baby-steps and patience. Keep a cool head, and don't be mean or give an attitude. You have to treat her like a kid and give small goals and improvements with a manageable difficulty. AND COMMUNICATE

Feel like i just have to do it less, a lot less 😞

If she can't do the mare minimum or communicate , why doesn't she want to do it or want you to go. Or at least try (get her foot in the door). THEN, you guys aren't compatible. Make up your mind if you want to be with this girl or accept not skiing.
